Soft tissue work with chiropractic care

Moving/manipulating the skeletal system without addressing muscle/tendons/ligaments is useless because the bones will misalign again if adhesions, etc. in muscles (from previous injuries, bad biomechanics, gravity's effects on our up-right postures,etc.) are not dealt with. I'm in my late 40's so I speak from experience. Muscles are often the culprits that pull bones out of proper alignment. Stretching muscles with adhesions is moot. Consider most of the time we are bending forward in our daily lives; psoas muscles get stronger but back muscles (S.I. ligaments) do not.
Soft-tissue work is essential. Chiropractic care alone doesn't complete the job, hence, need for repeated visits over months/years.

Hi there!
Just wondering if anyone has had any positive benefits from chiropractic care? I have pins and needles in my face and arms for about two weeks every since the "pickle jar" incident...yes, I somehow managed to hurt my neck by opening a pickle jar!!! Since then, the pain is pretty much gone, but I still have the nagging pins and needles feeling, so I scheduled myself an appt. for x-rays and treatment with a chiropractor for the first time and I'm a bit nervous. Any advice? TIA.

I work strictly for chiropractors only and I charge all of them $2.50 per page. One of the accounts I do only S.O.A.P. notes and they want them on labels, so they provide the labels, so it is just ink. I use an ink jet. I have been with them many years. Hope this helps.

I don't know if any of you out there work for SS but I think it is a bunch of bull that they can make the decision that they will not pay if someone makes a mistake. EXCUSE ME I thought we were all human but obviously they in management think their **** don't stink. I am definitely looking because I do not believe my paycheck is right however their is no way of checking as they have it posted nowhere. THEY SUCK!

How soft is the touch, is it a muffled sound (microsoft used to make a very soft touch keyboard.
You can't buy it anymore and I hate the clacky ones. I think a really soft one sounds muffled when you hit the key. Thanks

I have been working for a chiropractic neurologist for about a year, part time. I received my certificate from a local college in May. Stedman's also makes a neurology word book that may be helpful to you. I love doing chiro work.

kleenex, tissue, butcher paper and/or cotton balls. then you can "build" a snowman with it - which coincidentally gets it all picked up:)
One of my mom's friends has a whole closet with nothing but toilet tissue in it.
It seems like there is ALWAYS a reason, it's just hard to figure. I'll do that sometimes, come home with a whole bag of something, open the cupboard and realize i already have it!
Need input on chiropractic account rate
Does anyone do a chiropractic account? I am wondering what is a proper rate to charge. The account is basically patient SOAP notes, fairly easy. He has just started dictating his notes. I don't want to overcharge him, but I want a decent rate too. I don't want to charge separate for paper and toner, just add it in to my line rate. Have to take into account the cost of gas for pickup and delivery as well, which is about 10 miles one-way for me usually once a week, but I do try to run other errands when I deliver work as well. I am in Michigan. I have no idea what the going rate is in my area, as I don't know of any local MTs here. I am sure there must be some here, but in my 10 years in this area, I have yet to run across another local MT, nor have any of the numerous people I've met been aware of any as well. I have made between .10 and .13, be it 65-char. or gross line, for at least several years now as a subcontractor. I have 15 years of experience, mostly in acute care, so am not well versed in the going rate for clinic notes. Any input is greatly appreciated!
frosted jars with tissue paper and glue..
like we did in kindegarten class. You could use white tissue paper, watered down glue and a clear sealer. I can't say that I have tried this technique on plastic. Hope this helps.
Does anyone know of a way to make a tissue paper (or anything else cheap) wreath using handprints?
I am trying to come up with something cheap since I am the only one footing the craft bill for 25 kids!! I have all of their handprints and was thinking it would be a nice keepsake craft to have them make a wreath with them. I was going to use foam, but it is way to expensive to buy enough to make a wreath for 25 kids! I was thinking of using tissue paper and just cutting about a zillion handprints of each kid out and putting them together to form a wreath. Any ideas on how to make that work? A few years ago the class made the other kind of tissue paper wreath where you just wrap strips of tissue around the hanger and it turned out pretty nice. This would be nice too, since it would be with the kids' handprints. Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks everyone and Happy holidays!
If you are that slow, why don't you stop in some local doctor's offices, pt, chiropractic, etc
do their backlog? That has always kept me extremely busy.

I only wish that the service that was transcribing our hospital's work did the same. Their work is beyond horrible and the account manager that we have to deal with is a b**** on a good day!! She has every excuse for every request or correction we send back to her. Oh... I'm getting off track.
Anyways, the service that our hospital uses has transcriptionists that cannot punctuate if their life depended on it. The sentences run on and on and on and on. The doctors even say the punctuation and a couple of transcribers STILL WON'T PUNCTUATE!!

it gets done and doesn't cost them anything. That's what they think. If you can't do it, they'll get somebody who will. 
Acute care work goes by
work type. Consults are a work type, discharge summaries are a work type, OPs are a work type, H&Ps are a work type. They might also have ER, cardiac procedures, neurology procedures, and others, but the bigger hospitals may have other, possibly in-house, MTs doing procedures and ER, so it mostly refers to the Big 4 work types.

Clinic work to acute care
You are on the right track but it's just that no one has given you the break. Most MTs start with clinic notes and then wait for a break into the Big 4 doing acute care. Don't get discouraged. Yes by all means, test away and you might just get lucky. Take any job you can doing acute care even if the pay and hours are bad just to get experience under your belt.
It's not easy making a go of it these days even with tons of experience. Ya gotta be a little clever and have a game plan. Look at it as a challenge and keep at it. Best of luck to you.

I worked clinic for my first 8 years. From September until March it used to be slim, very slim. That was half the flipping year! In acute care there is less ebb and flow, in my opinion. It gets lean around spring break time, and again when school starts. How long it is slow can vary. I can't even believe how swamped we are at this point. I can see the number of reports are awaiting transcription and it has doubled every 4 hours all weekend AND people have been working all weekend.
If you do clinic, I wish I had an suggestion of how to break into acute care and I don't. I went from clinic only, to a surgical center doing all OPs, which was HARD HARD way to do it. I ended up in an enormous teaching hospital because I had OP note experience. Mine was sheer luck. I'll pray you have such a neat opportunity and can make that switch.

getting paid is showing appreciation for my work. that's all i care about.
who cares if some supervisor "appreciates" me? i'm in it for the money not for someone to "appreciate" me.
Try to work w/o distractions, if the cost of day-care is an issue -sm
then you will have to learn to work when your kids are sleeping basically. That is what I did. It is hard and you do not sleep much...I generally worked at night until 2am and got up at 8am before they were old enough for preschool, and squeezed in work here and there during the day. The younger they are though the easier it is to work I think. But you can do it, but you better be determined if you want to do it that way. I still work at night but not that late anymore since I have 7 hours during the day to myself now. It's still very hard to work when they are home (5&7) but my DH watches them a lot and takes care of them when I do have to work and they are home, so good home support helps too. I have 2 jobs so must still work crazy hours but I do what needs to be done.
You can't take care of an infant all day and work full time.

Clinic work or acute care question....sm
If you were offered a job by two different companies, the benefits were the same, line rate was the same, everything was the same except one was exclusively acute care and the other was clinic, which would you choose and why? I have two offers and everything is even except for the type of work. I would think clinic work you could get more lines, but then it is not as marketable later if I have to switch companies as staying acute care would be. Any input?

It can be a challenge juggling things, and I really do not have much of a social life, but for now it works. It not only keeps the wolf away from the door but allows me to build up a little nest egg and save for a mega vacation I have planned in November to celebrate turning 50. Having goals definitely helps me get through it all. 
I started on Acute care, then went to clinic work, - sm
and then back again. I found clinic work to be more challenging, plus it often included radiology. I think it's more a matter of just getting familiar with each institution's way of doing things, along with new doctors, and getting familiar with a few new terms (which don't we all do every single day, anyway?) than it is one being easier or harder than the other.
Would anyone care to share where you work? I love OPs, but do CONS and DS all day.YUCK! nm

Acute care work is operative reports, consultations, H&Ps, emergency room, DS basically the type of
dictation found in a hospital setting as opposed to a clinic setting in which you just type office notes and minor procedures.
Soft
Some of the type that fit into your ears are really soft and squishy and pretty comfortable. I use some of those with good success. They had a bigger end that would rest outside the ear, but I got rid of that by cutting them in half (horizontally). Only about 1/3 of an inch is left.
Even amongst that type of plugs, some are squishier than others. You might have to try a couple to find ones you like.
They can get kind of grubby looking, but I just wash them with soap and water and give them a day or so to dry. Usually at least a few pair come in a package.
P.S. You could resort to the ole broomstick on the ceiling message. : )
Soft Script
You know I have only been with Soft Script for about a month and I am really beginning to wonder why they will not explain line counts and how they come up with them one day their website shows 138 lines for me and my line counter program shows 245 what is up with this? Anyone else out there feel the same? Or you ask a question and the The BIG HEAD WOMAN rips your face off.

When I first started 4 months ago with SS I thought it was great but now I am seeing the light shed on some of what people are talking about on this message board. I wish I had been a little more patient and research this company before accepting their offer, I may have missed out on a good job opportunity as I turned down another offer and went with SoftScript but I guess I will never know. If nothing else my experience with them has been a lessen well learned. PLEASE, look at the numbers, compare the number of people on this board that oppose to those that agree with SoftScript and it will tell you the real truth, the numbers do not lie and as far as the line counts go let me add this....I work for two companies. A small company I have been employed with for the past 7 years and SoftScript I have been employed with for the past 4 months. On the same day with the small company for approximately 4 hours work I transcribed 61 reports with 1200 lines very easily with minimal effort, with SoftScript (now remember this is on the same day) for approximately 8 hours, working as hard as I could I transcribed over 100 reports with under 900 lines. This tells me something is definitely wrong with the line counting. Needless to say I am turning in my notice to SoftScript and seeking new employment.

What I'm saying is the doc feels around for position sometimes and that's probably why he said soft. Contractions make it hard, oh, and also huge babies, like mine. Ouch!!
Soft abdomen
On abd. exam, they're checking the actual abdomen, not the uterus and whether it's contracting or not.
As in a non-gravid exam, the abdomen can be soft, rigid, with guarding, rebound, etc. They're looking for the abdominal signs, not the uterine signs.
So - your abdomen can be soft, and you could be in the middle of a whopper contraction!

Not meaning to be sexist, but the soft talkers are usually women, sometimes almost whispering like they are trying to be extra confidential or something. I can max out my volume but still strain to hear them.

Soft Script and Accustat
I am busting my hump trying to learn SS (I am a newbie with some experience but under a year) and I also am an IC for Accustat, now I have to really work for hours on end to try to get a line count for SS and on my Accustat its a nice account where I can have a line count with normal speed and hardly any ESL's
So basically here is my problem should I keep working for SS ( i have had no problems with pay, of course I don't make much of a line count) or should I just do my Accustat account and quit SS
Did I forget to mention I also have a day job....lol (My hope is to just MT and make some money someday)
SS takes out taxes and IC does not so I going to just go with SS but reading all of these posts makes me think just do my IC job for awhile and stop working three jobs busting my but
Get a soft neck collar and try
Roll up a towel and put it under your neck when you sleep for support. If you don't get a collar you can also use a rolled towel and pin it while you're working.
Neck pain is horrible. Good luck
