Where does one find these wonderful gloves? I have tried everything and not much helps, certainly not splints. TIA

Soft-Flex and Handeze are 2 brfands of gloves
that MTs often use. I use SoftFlex. They are thin nylon with a bit of spandex. I got them for the little wrist cushions they have that protect the medial nerve when the heels of my hands started burning. They do protect the nerves and cured the burning, and I remember to wear them because they keep my hands warm. I love stuff that serves a dual purpose. :oD Oh, and I do have Raynaud's, so these gloves are good even for somebody with that problem.
In addition to the Soft Flex gloves I recommend...sm
an ergonomic keyboard (the old Microsoft Elite PS-2 is my favorite and I have three stockpiled); but, the thing that has made the most difference for me has been typing with my keyboard in my lap. I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthitis in my hands, as well as CTS. Transcribing with my keyboard in my lap has been a miracle for me.
Hand-Eze and/or Soft Flex...probably
Soft Flex forsure
I wear my SoftFlex gloves daily. I agree that after 15 minutes without them you can definitely tell a difference. I also have the Smart Glove- (had to dig them out of a drawer to make sure what the name was). To me they are just plain awkward. The bean-bag feeling is weird and feels like more of a strain on my wrists to type with, like my wrists are too elevated or something. Wore them once. My vote would be SoftFlex!
I actually wear gloves, regular knit, but thin gloves.
I get so used to typing with them on, when I take them off I have a hard time adjusting again.
Smart gloves vs. Softflex gloves - Advice
Anyone use these for typing? Do you still have enough range of motion? I am struggling and have tried to type with my braces on but of course I can't. Any advice would be great!! Thanks.
How soft is the touch, is it a muffled sound (microsoft used to make a very soft touch keyboard.
You can't buy it anymore and I hate the clacky ones. I think a really soft one sounds muffled when you hit the key. Thanks
I flex when I have to, which is often.
xx
I'm going to try that. I did the flex point sm
counting once and was always starved.
I lost 72 lb in 2 yrs on WW, mainly flex. sm
I had trouble with Core plan b/c, ahem, "eating until full" wasn't mentally do-able for me. I needed more strict limits. WW works wonderfully, either program, but I recommend joining Curves or another type of weight-training / cardio program, or even walking, to realy boost your loss.
WW is sensible (eat ALL foods in moderation) and long-term do-able. Good luck.
need flex hours MT-ing?
www.accentus.ca
Best company for flexible scheduling. They ask for a committed number of hours but don't care when you do those hours, as long as it is within a 2-week time frame.
Flex time
so this means instead of being told to flex our time and come back later or on our day off we should be paid for the time there is no work to transcribe?
flex hours
The company I work for used to be very lenient of when we typed just as long as we got in our hours for the week. This got out of hand and they wanted more of 8 hours a day, but still lenient of when we typed (some where putting them all in at the beginning of the week and having long weekends every week, making the workload really crazy on Monday and not good for patient care). Now they are making different hours they want covered and we have to work exactly the times assigned. Some of us are fine with this, others are not. Do you work scheduled hours or whenever you want. Just curious what is happening out there in the rest of MT world.
I can flex some, but I cannot make up an entire day of nearly no work!
:-( They do not want any excuses as to why people cannot work, but those of us who are here and WANT to work have nothing to do. Really makes me feel loyal to them, 'ya know????
my personal experience on a set schedule versus flex
I have worked for 2 companies now that want a set schedule and they DO watch to see when I will be on. There are several reasons for it, and I'll try to explain from their standpoint.
First I found that if they have a stat and I am scheduled to be working, they NEED me to be on to take that stat. Another issue is QA coverage. They need to hire QA personnel to pick up any blanks I left and still get the report to the client withing TAT. So if I work outside my assigned shift time, they may not meet TAT because they didn't have enough QA staff. On the flip side, if the QA staff has nothing to QA, then they transcribe and take the work I would normally get, leaving me without any work when I eventually DO log in.
I am a high producer and can get my required line count in 5 hours, not 8, and when I do work 8 I may find myself without work the next day.
It is a delicate balancing act for everyone. I decided to take the 9-5 employee job, but also have a back up account on those no work available days as an IC so I can always make sure my paycheck is reliable.
You have to go with what works for you.
Has anyone had good success with Weight Watchers flex point program? sm
I tried South Beach for about 10 days and have lost 10 lbs but I want something that is lifelong and to me SB is too strict....Thinking about switching over to Weight Watchers...Anyone have good long term success with it? If so, how much did you lose and how fast?
Soft
Some of the type that fit into your ears are really soft and squishy and pretty comfortable. I use some of those with good success. They had a bigger end that would rest outside the ear, but I got rid of that by cutting them in half (horizontally). Only about 1/3 of an inch is left.
Even amongst that type of plugs, some are squishier than others. You might have to try a couple to find ones you like.
They can get kind of grubby looking, but I just wash them with soap and water and give them a day or so to dry. Usually at least a few pair come in a package.
P.S. You could resort to the ole broomstick on the ceiling message. : )
Soft Script
You know I have only been with Soft Script for about a month and I am really beginning to wonder why they will not explain line counts and how they come up with them one day their website shows 138 lines for me and my line counter program shows 245 what is up with this? Anyone else out there feel the same? Or you ask a question and the The BIG HEAD WOMAN rips your face off.
Soft Script
When I first started 4 months ago with SS I thought it was great but now I am seeing the light shed on some of what people are talking about on this message board. I wish I had been a little more patient and research this company before accepting their offer, I may have missed out on a good job opportunity as I turned down another offer and went with SoftScript but I guess I will never know. If nothing else my experience with them has been a lessen well learned. PLEASE, look at the numbers, compare the number of people on this board that oppose to those that agree with SoftScript and it will tell you the real truth, the numbers do not lie and as far as the line counts go let me add this....I work for two companies. A small company I have been employed with for the past 7 years and SoftScript I have been employed with for the past 4 months. On the same day with the small company for approximately 4 hours work I transcribed 61 reports with 1200 lines very easily with minimal effort, with SoftScript (now remember this is on the same day) for approximately 8 hours, working as hard as I could I transcribed over 100 reports with under 900 lines. This tells me something is definitely wrong with the line counting. Needless to say I am turning in my notice to SoftScript and seeking new employment.
Soft belly (sm)
What I'm saying is the doc feels around for position sometimes and that's probably why he said soft. Contractions make it hard, oh, and also huge babies, like mine. Ouch!!
Soft abdomen
On abd. exam, they're checking the actual abdomen, not the uterus and whether it's contracting or not.
As in a non-gravid exam, the abdomen can be soft, rigid, with guarding, rebound, etc. They're looking for the abdominal signs, not the uterine signs.
So - your abdomen can be soft, and you could be in the middle of a whopper contraction!
Soft Script
Could you folks talk about Soft Script, good or not so good, as best you can. Thanks in advance.
soft talkers
Not meaning to be sexist, but the soft talkers are usually women, sometimes almost whispering like they are trying to be extra confidential or something. I can max out my volume but still strain to hear them.
Stay away from Soft Script...sm
I won't go into details, but if you do a search on this forum, you will find plenty of reasons and they are all true.
Soft Script and Accustat
I am busting my hump trying to learn SS (I am a newbie with some experience but under a year) and I also am an IC for Accustat, now I have to really work for hours on end to try to get a line count for SS and on my Accustat its a nice account where I can have a line count with normal speed and hardly any ESL's
So basically here is my problem should I keep working for SS ( i have had no problems with pay, of course I don't make much of a line count) or should I just do my Accustat account and quit SS
Did I forget to mention I also have a day job....lol (My hope is to just MT and make some money someday)
SS takes out taxes and IC does not so I going to just go with SS but reading all of these posts makes me think just do my IC job for awhile and stop working three jobs busting my but
Get a soft neck collar and try
Roll up a towel and put it under your neck when you sleep for support. If you don't get a collar you can also use a rolled towel and pin it while you're working.
Neck pain is horrible. Good luck

Because real estate is so soft right now, there are
a lot of home for sale and it's difficult to sell. I would not recommend selling by owner or going through a by owner agent. If the market was hot like it was before it wouldn't be a problem, but right now you need a bulldog real estate agent to represent you. As well, you'll probably want to consider offering some incentive to any third party agents. That's what I had to do. There are so many brand new housing developments out there and the incentives that are being offered are crazy. I had to be competitive because my house was not brand new, but had a ticket price that was about the same as a brand new house. I did sell, but I took about $15,000.00 less than what I had hoped for. The good news for me is that I don't have dual house payments anymore. Good luck!
It's not muffled soft, but clicky-ish; however...
it still has a somewhat light touch, and my wrists aren't in pain anymore, which was a big thing with me.
does anyone else have a problem with Soft Scripts dictators....
I can't get anywhere on a line count, I cannot understand what they say
Are all MT jobs like this !!!!!!!!!!!
Great news for Soft Script
There are a few of us going to the labor board in reference to Soft Script and their stealing of lines. So far, we have a good case per the labor board. Anyone and everyone that is interested in possibly getting their back wages, contact your local labor board and help us get what we have earned.
2 jobs Accustat and Soft Script
I cannot work for Soft Script anymore the dictators are the worst I have ever heard and Accustat has the best !!!!!! I think I know which job to go with
One of my daughter's soft stuffed animals....
when she's not looking!! It's a soft little pink elephant, not scratchy at all.
I need a very soft touch keyboard. Any suggestions?
I bought an expensive (over $200) 3 piece comfort keyboard that you can position the sections anywhere you want. That feature is nice, but to me the pressure you need on the keys is too muHIS IS A for this particular model. This is the cause of most of my pain. Anyone know of a very light touch keyboard? TIA
Have you tried the wireless MS natural keyboard? Very soft!!

Keyboard with an extra soft touch?
I am dealing with repetitive stress injury and can only type about 1 hour a day. Does anyone have a brand name keyboard that has a particularly soft touch to it? I am hoping changing to a very gentle keyboard might get me another few hours per week.
Any Soft Script Employees invoice question?
I am new at soft script and wondering if anyone knows if I'm suppose to invoice or is it automatic???? Help anyone
Soft Script is a real piece of work
I don't know if any of you out there work for SS but I think it is a bunch of bull that they can make the decision that they will not pay if someone makes a mistake. EXCUSE ME I thought we were all human but obviously they in management think their **** don't stink. I am definitely looking because I do not believe my paycheck is right however their is no way of checking as they have it posted nowhere. THEY SUCK!

Soft tissue work with chiropractic care
Moving/manipulating the skeletal system without addressing muscle/tendons/ligaments is useless because the bones will misalign again if adhesions, etc. in muscles (from previous injuries, bad biomechanics, gravity's effects on our up-right postures, etc.) are not dealt with. I'm in my late 40's so I speak from experience. Muscles are often the culprits that pull bones out of proper alignment. Stretching muscles with adhesions is moot. Consider most of the time we are bending forward in our daily lives; psoas muscles get stronger but back muscles (S.I. ligaments) do not.
Soft-tissue work is essential. Chiropractic care alone doesn't complete the job, hence, need for repeated visits over months/years.
Hope this helps.
We're getting lovely soft quiet snow now.
It's winding down now (2200 hours) here near Bangor, ME, but it was just so beautiful and soft--super fine and it looks like glitter when light hits it from flashlights or porch lights. It really is quite beautiful out there and not too awfully cold. No wind to speak of and everything is muffled quiet-like. Just beautiful and the animals are having an absolute blast playing in it!
Soft Script just called me out of the blue looking for recruits...
I must have inquired about a position well over a year ago, and thank goodness it did not work out based on the archives. But, with no warning, no provocation, they called asking if I or anyone I knew needed an MT job. Hmmm, weird huh?
gloves
I wear gloves that are made for carpal tunnel, cock up, and have modified for thumbs to have more freedom. I also own a pair of gloves designed for transcriptionists. use search enging on internet and put in gloves for transcription. I cannot remember the name of the company, but they are great.
gloves
I have the Soft Flex and I absolutely love them. This is my second pair.
Kid gloves sm
You sound so....ANGRY. MT or editor, it's just a job. Some editors have the mistaken idea that they are somehow above errors.....like the editor that tore me a new butt because I typed, "at the time of intromission" (dx pelvic pain during intercourse), corrected me to "interim admission." Doncha think that was pretty pathetic too? I laughed. I also demanded that the report be corrected back to the way I typed it....it was.
Anyone use gloves?
I'd like some feedback. My hands freeze, get stiff and hurt. Does anyone use gloves?
Shawnette
gloves
this is awesome! thanks!!
Gloves sm
Yes, I've been wearing them for the last 15 years. I use Handeze gloves. I bought my last pair at Osco. I absolutely love them! My hands don't get as tired and sore when I use them. They're thin, and I can hardly tell I have them on.
Hope that helps!
gloves

The above gloves are especially designed for typists. They have foam strips that take the pressure off the heels of yours hands, especially if you prop them on your keyboard. I love them and they work really well.
I tried the gloves to see if they would help...sm
many MTs swear by them, but I just hated the feel, guess I never got used to them, and thus I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands (16 years will do that to ya!). Be sure to stretch your fingers regularly, and don't forget to take a break here and there, my neurologists told me it was crazy to just sit and pound away at a keyboard for hours .. but then, they were the doctors! I have a doctor who believes in naturopathy, and believes taking B vitamins, especially B6, can decrease carpal tunnel. Give it a try, the vitamins AND the gloves! Take Care!
Gloves
I tried compression gloves (supports). I bought them at the local drug store. They do help on my very busy days or on long-winded doctors and we all know they're out there.
