It appears to be a good study with what was excluded. However, don't tell me about the opportunity for increased financial gain with this so called wonderful increased production of 30% when you decrease my pay by 20%. The only financial gain I can see in all this is in the profit margin for the company.

Increased production
Do you suppose increased production basically just come from utilizing the Magic Keys over and over until they become habit. If any one has a link to an article or any information, please share. I feel like I just landed on the moon with VR and no interpreter.
THANKS MTStars! The See's Candy tin arrived.
I cannot wait to dive into it!
I was working in-house, but didn't know 'til I arrived. - sm
Was having the nicest, QUIETEST morning up until then, too! (Didn't realize this was largely due to no jets flying overhead, as I live along the flight path for both SFO and Oakland Int'l. airports.)
I believe the phone had rung around 6:00 AM, (my sister calling to ask if I'd heard the news), but I tuned it out, turned over, and went back to sleep. Never checked my messages, either. I never turn on the TV before work, and it as a gorgeous fall day. I lived near where I worked, and decided to ride my bike to work that day. As I was riding along a street that bordered a creek, I remember thinking was a PEACEFUL morning it was.
So I get to work, and as I arrive at my workstation, feeling all smiles & calmness and 'coombayah', a co-worker asks if I've heard what happened. I just assumed the system was down again, which happened often there.
So then she says, no - New York was attacked. I thought she was joking, and then my sister reached me and was breathlessly telling me what happened. She said a jetliner had hit the World Trade Center. 'How can that be an attack?' I asked, 'There must've been something wrong with the plane or the pilot or something.' But she said no, she was watching live coverage of the aftermath of the 1st tower on TV, and actually saw the 2nd plane hit the second tower. She'd called because she heard one was headed for San Francisco (the one that went down in Pennsylvania).
Anyway, for the next couple days it was weird to drive past SFO and see NO planes taxiing on the runway, and to pass it at night and not see the lineup of jet headlights headed from East to West towards the main runway. Although I have to admit it was rather nice not to have to listen to planes overhead for a couple of nights, now when I hear a jet, it's sort of a relief. If a long time passes where I don't hear a jet overhead, I start to get nervous......
On my way to a Bible study. When I arrived, the other gals there had no idea what had happened. sm
I couldn't even find the words to explain - it was a little after 9. I was listening to, like the poster below, Bob and Sheri (on my way to Bible study - go figure) and Bob and Sheri were in a mood I had never, ever heard before. Very solmen. Describing word for what what they SAW. I didn't even know they were in NYC.
Anyways, I had to pull over as I started bawling. My younger son had taken an accompanied minor flight just a few days prior to that out of Dulles, so this hit quite close to home.
Anyways, we heard while in our Bible study (we decided to meet and pray for our country) about the other flights, but not flt. 93. We heard about that when our local newspaper (a giant) had people walking around McDonalds handing out FREE newspapers around 12 o'clock with pics and everything. The last time that newspaper did that was probably after JFK got shot. We were all scrambling for a paper which I still own to this day.
I remember my 9 year old son reading it in his room (I left it out like a dummie) and he cried like a baby for all those people on those flights who died. The WTC accident got to him the hardest. He still talks about it to this day. Tragic.
I don't know about you, but I do fear another attack like this again. It's hard not to.
Ordered a Dell with XP Sunday night, arrived here Wed morning!
This is my 3rd Dell computer over the years. My current one is more than 5 years old and is just getting a little slow and outdated, so my hubby the computer guru suggested I get a new one before you can no longer find XP. He is still getting it set up for me (I am pretty picky!). Been VERY happy with Dell. Never had a single problem with their computers. My current computer still has lots of life in it, so he is going to use it as a backup for his laptop. BTW, we went right to the Dell website and ordered. Good luck to you!
Nothing has increased for me except gas and
it isn't $3 a gallon. 21 cents a gallon makes a difference over the long haul. Oh, but I guess you don't worry about things like that with your ridiculous bills and horrible increases!
Go ahead and continue paying your bills, dear. Or at least try. I for one have mine well under control with a 4-digit deposit in savings every month.
:) Enjoy your high cost of living wherever you are!
OK ... LOL ... that explains it !! nm

Wow this explains it ....
I was hired by a very nice woman a while ago who has great accounts. I had to also sign a non-compete form. I had no clue exactly why they would ask me to do that and asked them to explain exactly what this clause meant. They explained it and I was left with my mouth hanging open that somebody would really do something as low as stealing an account from somebody who was willing to give you a chance. After reading these other posts "WoW" I had no idea some people were really that low and greedy. But like one poster said, "What goes around comes around." I would not even want to work for somebody so unethical !!! It goes to show how trustworthy that person really is.
That explains it!...
LOL...
thank you - that explains a lot
I don't think I travel enough to warrant an air card if that is the case. At relatives's homes that means they have to have a router also and I don't think that is going to be feasible since most of them just have 1 computer. I guess I need to get something that makes my lap top hook into my router without a cable so I have to be right there.
That explains a lot
No wonder you believe what you do. If all I had was good dictators, I may not care as much either. I appreciate reading all of the responses. Some of you really do get it. You understand the lack of ethics of cherry picking. They're robbing the rest of us of income, since our $$/time is reduced with the disproportionate number of bad dictators the ethical MT gets when there are cherry pickers on the account.
My lines have increased by 1,000 per mo. and it's
just September. I'm feeling fairly confident about this fall/winter.
increased work
Mine is just the opposite, I have 2 accounts and they both increased
Wow! That certainly explains some things..

Hmm, guess that explains
why Hollywood is so wacky.
I think you're right, that explains it! lol :)

well i guess that explains it
People come on here saying they make upwards of 50k a year but never say how they do it. I suppose they are IC and work all the dang time. I'll take my peanuts and benefits and enjoy my time with my family :D
Central FL hasn't increased at all yet. nm

I increased RAM - made all the difference
My computer was freezing up all the time, and now it zips along and doesn't get stuck at all. Everything is much faster.
If you know someone who can install it, you could save a few bucks. But I don't think it saves you that much.
RAM will also help you with all the technology upgrades going on, even just for using the Web. It's a good investment if you have a good computer to begin with.
Increased speed with Expander
How much faster would you say an Expander can make you when transcribing?
Abby
Percentage?
Can anyone estimate a percentage of letters/words straight typed versus expander? I am quite sure no one type 100% expansions, but I am hoping some of you can give a good estimate.
I make lots of them but am wondering what your ratios are.
Thanks for your feedback!
You can only take a percentage of
things related around the home if you have an office. I take 7% off of anything around the house, but not 100%. I take 50% for the internet. I do take my office supplies off, but only a percentage, I do use my printer for things other than work. Having a home office and taking deductions is a red flag for the IRS.
That explains ALL your childish behavior.
.
Completely different state, so that explains it!
There is often no work, and lots of posts in the archives about people who have gone there and had no work at all. We are not talking about the same place. I didn't think so. Its a shame. It would be nice for those I know who work there if there was lots of work. Funny that both with the same name don't pay for spaces.
Who wants playback speed increased on DocQScribe?
Sorry to repeat this post, but was hoping for a better response, so have moved it to the top again.
Over the past months I have been trying to convince superiors at MQ of the need to have the playback speed increased even more than we are able to at the present. I proofread all reports and when you have a slow dictator, it can take forever. If you agree, please make a post and maybe that will convince them to do something about it.
Well...let's see. In 4 years rent in our area has increased at least $500/mo.
Health insurance has gone up. Cost of prescription drugs has increased. Food has increased. Gasoline prices are now over $3 a gallon ($2.69 a gallon BEFORE the storm). Now they're saying that we can expect a 20% increase in our electric bills and up to 71% increase in our heating/fuel bills. All these increases and I've had a 40% CUT in pay. You can believe any paper, magazine, TV news show, or politician you want to believe. I believe my paycheck and my bills.
But isn't the increased incentive JUST on whatever is over 300 lines? Not applied to the first 3
;P
You can only write off the percentage actually used...
for work. Who uses 40% of the space in their house??? I write off 10-15%. You also must use that work area for work only. Come audit time (and it eventually may happen), you will need to show a floorplan of your house and what area is for work exclusively. If you're writing off 40% you will be in deep doo-doo.
but what percentage of hospitals allow that?
From what I've been reading ... the home-based service MT is averaging 8 cpl, for those dictators which make you run screaming from the room. And, I don't forsee things improving. Then again, some are lucky enough to make a line rate worthy of their skills, without worry about the dictators from Hades.
This is a bit out of date: http://www.bls.gov/oco/pdf/ocos271.pdf
Percentage of ESL dictators
Have been lied to on 2 jobs now and it is about to give me a nervous breakdown wondering how in the heck I am going to pay my bills with so many ESLs. They tell me 35% or 50%.....90% or more is about right. I'm looking for a non-MT job after almost 10 years as an MT.
Percentage of loss.
Line pay it's about 15% if my calculations are correct and as far as vacation/holiday pay, it's about 27%. So sorry for you.
Some companies just take a percentage
of each report to compensate for headers and footers, not what those headers and footers actually are. The same thing happens to me at my company.
What percentage for state and fed? nm

Finally, a thought that explains the mess down there!
That would make sense, those that worked, had familes, had ties all fled when possible. Those few for whatever reasons did not make it out appened to get "stuck" with the lowerclass and those released from jails, which finally explains why in the world anyone whould shot at cops and enlisted servicemen/women trying to come in and help!
Good grief that has been driving me NUTS! As it IS an unAmerican response, unhuman response to distaster. Hecks, we had a string of house fires, and people who battle it out everyday in our area were bound together....we do living in a working class are where most families have two working parents...but still a shame to think that is the cause of this extreme maddness, but at least a better thought then they all just went mad suddenly!!
You can't do it that way. There's a post on Productivity Talk that explains how.
Productivity Talk at http://www.productivitytalk.com/forums/index.php
See the Shorthand Commands forum for instructions.
That explains a great deal. Thanks for the heads up.
I unsure what the rambling incoherence was due to, but that makes more sense than just her being off her meds or something.
Yes, renters can write off percentage (sm)
of apartment/house used for work. In the area where it reads, "rents," you can write off percentage of house used.
Brother is a tax attorney and helped me out with this. I used to pay a fortune, but no more! On top of that, if you are claiming under $25,000.00 they don't even check for small businesses anymore.
Just trying to help. You sound like a tax man! A tax man will say the same thing, you can't write off this, you can't write off that, but if you read the IRS publications there are a lot of things you can write off. They don't want to end up in tax court, want to run through your return and get it done. They don't care if you pay a fortune. If you have receipts for everything what are they going to do? The IRS is not going to bother with our piddly incomes.
How is the error percentage calculated? nm
nm
I do all ER and only a small percentage are gruesome. sm
The bulk of them are minor car accidents, asthma attacks, chest pains, bug bites, high blood sugar, household injuries, rashes, babies with fevers....and on and on and on. I thought they were easy to learn and get used to because so much was so similar, docs use the same formats for dictating. The charts flow pretty quickly and I make good money on them.
What would be a late fee or percentage suggested?
I think your idea is excellent. Other companies do this. Why can't ICs? Of course we can. But how do you decide on the late fee amount? Certain percentage after a certain number of days. What is the usual company procedure on this? Does anyone know.
Oh, that explains your open-minded, intelligent demeanor

You pay your home state tax, whatever percentage that is. You can claim
deductions for anything associated to your job....i.e., a percentage of your utilities, expenses such as supplies needed to do your job, etc. Save all receipts for any of those items that you purchase related to the job, and I think the 1099 would be sufficient.
As far as I know you can earn up to a certain amount - you cannot exceed a certain percentage of the
salary you were making when you took your disability. I do not think it is uncommon to work as you could certainly not make it on disability alone.
What percentage productivity gain do you get with InstanText?
Am thinking of switching. I currently get 400% productivity with SH8 (it types 3 characters for every 1 I type). Can anyone out there get similar figures with InstanText?
Late period, test negative, 1 week later my period arrived.
To be honest, when I did become pregnant, I knew it right away. Sounds weird, but I just knew and it showed up on HCG test at 4 weeks.
Sometimes, you just know! Good luck whatever results you have.

Own accounts, line charge, MTSO percentage
I think you might have posted this same question about a week ago. I take anywhere from 20 to 30% on an account from my IC's that covers my being the QA, the accountant, the customer service rep, the go between and the relief transcriptionist. I really think you MTSO is being more than fair. Stop and think if and when you get your own accounts, would you only keep 25% if someone was typing for you? Sometimes it is hardly worth my time to keep the accounts for the IC's as the time I spend on those accounts I accounts I could be typing and earning $30 to $40 instead of the $10 to $12 that I get when someone else types it. Remember when you have your own accounts there is no one to cover for you when you are sick, your child is sick, you go on vacation, holidays, etc. There is always a flip side to the coin. I do wish you luck but there is more into doing your own accounts than you realize.
Not a word help question: Would menstrual blood mixed with urine cause increased microalbumin? (pl
My 21-YO daughter has type 2 DM, but it is very well controlled by diet alone. She just had some lab tests done (blood and urine), and they called to let us know her urine microalbumin was slightly elevated. However, she was on her period when they did the urine test, and she said there was definitely blood mixed in with her urine because of this. Does anyone know if this would affect the microalbumin result? They want her to start taking a small dose of lisinopril, but she doesn't want to and wants to wait 6 months for the next test. Her hemoglobin A1c and other values were "perfect" according to the nurse who called, but we are waiting for the actual results to come via mail.
