Snakes do a lot of good in nature, most are harmless.

I'm in NC too! We have good & bad snakes, unfortunately.
Don't take any chances. Call somebody. They won't kill it because the State law won't permit them to here, but will attempt to remove it for you (for $, of course!). Good luck!
You're right - harmless.
nm
could be a harmless snake...nm

LOL...you're hilarious! It's mindless (harmless) fun, that's all. No biggie. NM

Odds are its a harmless snake, open up then vent but capture it - sm
rig up some sort of box for it to crawl into, put some food in there for it (dead mouse, whatever) and when it comes out, close up the box. Take it outside and let it go. We don't kill anything if its not poisonous, even then I don't (have a lot copperheads around here), though my DH does. My 1 neighbor kills all snakes unfortunately. Snakes are good though, they keep down the rodents. They won't bother you if you don't bother them.
How about snakes?
I found a little small snake in the house in December, it got away before I could get it and we haven't seen it since.
Help! Snakes!
Snake in the heat/air vent. His head was right at the vent exploring to see if he could fit through but he's too big I think. Anybody know what to do? He's disappeared now so worried where he went to and if there are more. Thanks.
Keep snakes away!!
Sprinkle some moth crystals around in your flower beds around your house and the snakes won't come around. This worked for me!
Good Luck!
You must not have snakes around...
I have lots and it's extremely unnerving to see, step on, or work in the garden and have one slither away from where you just had your hand. We do have poisonous ones too. If there were anyway to get rid of them, I certainly would. Unfortunately, some snakes do "hold their ground" and will bite if you unknowingly bother them. I had one fall off the roof onto my glider right where I had been sitting a few minutes before. He was trying to get to the bird house hanging near by. Needless to say, I moved the birdhouse away from the house.
I don't like snakes either.
May seem odd, since I have 5 PET geckos... but they have legs. Big difference. There's just something WRONG about anything that can move without benefit of limbs....
Comedian Bill Engvall talked about being afraid of snakes. "Snakes are of the devil. It's in the Bible. Look it up."
One time back in my teens, before we knew what we know now about skin cancer and sun damage, I was sunbathing in the back hard, opened my eyes, and found myself nose to nose with a 3-foot black and white king snake. Perfectly harmless--but I think I jumped about a mile straight up in the air!

snakes
We had a couple of snakes that got into our church (found and sealed up the holes). However, I found out they have large sticky traps like they use for mice that are for snakes. Maybe that would do the job. Good luck. I don't like to kill snakes, but if they are invading my space, then so be it.
IN THEIR NATURE ?!?!?!!?!
It's attitudes like that that make them think they have a right to cheat, after all, Boys will be boys............ PLEASE
the nature of what you are looking for
? is it only what we wished we knew as a beginning MT, or every other aspect of the business too?
killing snakes
If an animal is endangering my life, of course, I will probably have to kill it, snakes included, of which we have many out here. If I was on an island, just me and a chicken, of course, I would eat it. My take is that, as long as there is other healthier food, I will continue to eat that, veggies, grains, fruits, and leave the animals to live their lives.
Hating Snakes
I would be totally freaking out too! Find it and kill it. I'd go to a hotel until you find the thing. Like you, I would be way scared. I hope that you find it, but in the meantime, you certainly have my sympathies.
Snakes .. continued
Well, finally ventured out to finish putting the flowers in and (btw I am in Florida) so every nasty thing is here along with me in the yard probably ;-) but have not seen it again. I am sure it is in the bushes for protection and I am just concerned that the mommy is nearby and wants to bite my face off for screaming so loud when I saw it!! From what I gather, it could be just a black variety of nonpoisonous whatever they are or it could have been a rattler because there used to be orange groves everywhere .. and it could be water because I live across the street from the bayou. The dog pooped today on my brand new den carpet .. you should have been here for that war dance and yoddling display!! Mama mia!
I know men cheat, its in their nature. I'm just saying
They don't commit either, and when we get cheated on or rejected it hurts and its just difficult. I wish they weren't like that, always wanting to go after something younger, better or sexier, but yes thats the way it goes. Its awful. Women get the short end of the stick in just about everything. I'm not saying there are no good men out there, but for the most part, I just cannot ever trust one or give up my life for one ever again. Its sad. Guys can find committment and love easily but we women have to claw, grip and lose our minds to find it and hold on to it.
Yes, I think it's human nature
NM
I don't understand it, but it's nature.
Like any other pet, the owner should read up on them and educate him/herself about this particular kind of animal before getting one. If you separate them at the right time, they're fine. You just have to know how to take care of them.
I still think they're pretty. I love their colors and they're comical too - they just "vant to be alone".
LOL
Human nature
People generally don't talk about how happy they are on a regular basis. They tend to want to talk to others when something is bothering them, and focus more on the negative. So I guess it makes sense that you don't see a lot of posts that say "Ladeedah, how I love my job and what a stupendous day it is in the transcription world today!" The job is just a means to a happier life, not the definition of a happy life.
Personally, I feel honored that I am in this profession. Not because of the money or the skill and intelligence that it requires, but primarily because it allows me to be home with my daughter instead of shipping her off to daycare every day for some stranger to screw up. That is why I will deal with the lack of raises, crappy dictators, periodic lack of work, mgmt that is too overworked to care, etc. To be with my baby all the time and still bring in a paycheck, however meager it may be.
nah, just snakes.....and spiders.....and roaches
nm
I absolutely hate snakes.
And spiders. Anyway, 5 years ago we had just moved to a different house. I was sitting on the ground on the south side planting some bulbs. Just sitting indian style, enjoying the weather. Well, I got my 2nd bulb in and picked up my pack of bulbs and went to move over to plan another and there was a snake coiled up on my sandal. I flipped. All my bulbs went flying in the air, along with my little shovel. I screamed. The thing was probably not even 2 feet long, I didn't care. Anyway, my neighbor and her friend came and chased it away for me. At the time, they were 8 and 9. lol
Question about snakes .. yuck!
I know that this is the time of year the babies are born, but I want to know how to get them out of the flowering bushes in my back yard. This merry widow stuff is for the birds!! If someone has a remedy that does not have me putting my hands where he/she is .. I am all for it. Yesterday as I looked out the window he/she was looking back in at me .. gag!!
there is an advantage having black snakes
in the basement, as they eat rodents. So keep this in mind.
What do you prefer? Rodents or black snakes?
I just hate both, but if I had to choose I would choose the black snake.
all this talk about snakes and guess what..
the dogs had cornered when we got home from town today.. geez. a stinking snake..went down to see the dogs in the pin were going crazy, yard dog was even down there barking.. he always greets us when we get back home, so I knew something was there, went & looked, it wasn't a black snake, kinda grayish.. so went back to the house, then went back again & the stinking thing had its neck spread like a cobra, and then it hissed at me, creeped me out and sent chills all the way down, so back to the house I went, dh got home, went out to tell him, he went & got the shovel, that things head was almost diamond shaped it was evil looking, dh got it on the shovel & I think he was going to pitch it over in the woods, but then it held that evil lookin head up & hissed at him, it fell off the shovel & he killed it.. heard it was a spread adder, here people call them spreadenadder.. lol.. needles to say, Thank God it's gone..
Given the extreme nature of your anxiety
plus your other medications, I wouldn't mess with it. Just because it's "natural" doesn't mean there aren't any side effects. The warnings on RxMed say not to take with MAO, SSRI, tricyclic antidepressants or dopamine agonists.
For starters, St. John's wort causes skin photosensitivity, mucus membrane inflammation, and interferes with birth control pills. I don't know if that's a concern for you or not. Kava kava can cause skin reactions, pupillary dilatation, lack of skeletal muscle coordination, and may exacerbate depression.
There are some European studies out there indicating that St. John's wort is effective with mild side effects. Still, I'd avoid taking herbs period with your existing symptoms and medications.
oh you guys are so far out of touch with nature...
you think the whole world is Disneyized. You think the male buck stands over the baby deer and protects it, on his wife's behalf. You think Simba's daddy looks for him when lost. Nature is nasty and completely insensitive to feelings. The law is survival of the fittest. Even daddy seals come in and slaughter babies when they find out a rival fathered them. But go on...dream on your pretty little dreams. I notice the only babies ever really championed for are the cute fuzzy ones...go cuddle a rattlesnake, why doncha!
oh and ps I was not original poster who put this controversy on the board, now was I?
Because of my competitive nature, I would use it as incentive to
produce more and make more money.
I always like to know where I fall compared to other MTs - am I in the middle of the pack, on the bottom or on top. If I am not on top, than I would do my best to get there. That is just my nature. I strive to be the best that I can be, although sometimes we all fall short. No biggy!! Just do your best and produce what you physically can, and that will have to be enough for that particular day.
Just use the daily information as an incentive for yourself!
Good luck to you.
missed point nature
North, south, east and west do not change, correct. It was funny as she said "depends on which way you are coming from." Here in our berg, streets try to be north and south, east and westbound, as that was an east and westbound street they were on. Just killed me, sorry I was entertained.
poster is wrong - snakes do have feelings...N/M

Use mother nature's WOOD HEAT !!

I used to let mine out too and thought nature was great -
Until he went missing and animal control brought him to me in a bag the next day! Who knows how long he lay in the road after he was hit by that car. It just breaks my heart thinking about it. My cats stay inside now and are very happy with their cat trees and toys.
Hope U are just baiting us and your nature isnt

All diamond-shaped heads are poisonous snakes! I do know that! nm

Its human nature to impose on other people whats right for yourself!
Even when its not asked for. Maybe some people like to surround themselves with nonsense and chaos, where as I like peace and quiet! I think people who like working with other people are either pretending or just plain crazy!
No - I do not want implants or a mastopexy - I was just wishing for nature to take care of it!
My breasts are of a nice size naturally. I am not vain - underwire bras are fine for me.
Tax guy told me because of nature of job and way computers outdate so quickly, could get new one
:+
I'm paranoid by nature, I guess. :) I agree that not all of the services out there are bad. SM
I've just not had much luck with any service and the one I spoke about above was the worst. That was early in my career and I felt like I was pretty close friends with the supervisor and then to be treated the way I was treated, really just hurt. Ever since then, I've distanced myself in my work life. Business is business.
I will say, though, that I am a loyal person. If I'm treated fairly, I will give 110%. I think that's what happening these days in the MT world. MTs aren't getting treated very fair and there are just bad feelings everywhere. You're constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. If a job offer is too good to be true, then it probable is too good to be true. And now everyone is playing cover your behind and making sure contracts cover everything. I just think MTs need to play hardball like the big companies. If you are working as an IC, you should have a ready made contract for whatever service you contract with. Why should you be the only one signing rights away?
I've also had the opportunity to read the contract between a big service and one of their hospital clients. The line rate that this particular service charged was mind boggling. I don't feel bad about stealing accounts away from services like that.
I agree Nature Sounds better than music.. IMHO.. NM
