short cut program
Hello:
I am using Shorthand. I seem to have problems saving entries into the dictionary. I have tried to get onto the board at the ShortHand site, but cannot. The problem with the entries seems to be that I can use them for 2 or 3 days, and then I cannot make them work any more and cannot find them on the list. Also, entries I have made 4 to 5 weeks ago sometimes disappear (on large group of docs rotating through their various office locations).
Any suggestions as to
1. How I should save my dictionary entries? I press OK to get out of the entry box;
2. I hit "save" at the top of the shorthand screen when I make an entry;
3. How can I get onto the Shorthand productivity board?
Thank you.
javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
Thank you.
Happy Holidays.
What expander, short-cut program (sm)
works best with Transnet ExText? Will Keystrokes provide this Expander if you purchased the foot pedal? Feel free to e-mail me if you like, I'd appreciate the helpful information.
You can use Shorthand in ANY program, it works outside your program
I have never found a platform it did not work with and I have worked on several different versions of Meditech. Just start using it.
What is the best short-cut program to use to increase you speed?
I've only been on it a short time but love it - I use Shorthand, though with it.

IT - great program, great support system. nm

It is in the Shorthand program.
Open ShortHand and click on help.
It's a really good program. I use Shorthand with it.
Instant Text also works
Shorthand program with Citrex
I believe that Instant Text will work and it is an awesome program! I have been using it for about 7 years, really helps production and more.
Shorthand program question
I am using the trial version of the ShortHand program from pcshorthand.com. I have some long entries in there and it seems to take forever for it to go into my report. I sit and watch each sentence come onto the screen. Is there a better shorthand program? Where it just instantly pastes the entire text "BAM" instantly without having to stop and wait?
Also, maybe it just does it like this because it is a trial version????
Thanks!!!
shorthand program/bayscribe
I am having problems with this too. Did anyone resolve this? I turned of teh Bayscribe player, but how do you get ShortHand to start working>
Yep, in Shorthand & SpeedType since they are the same program.

Is Shorthand a "separate" program/not DQS?
It sounds that way, but just checking. Thanks.
Shorthand works with every program, it works outside the program you use, does not interfere.

Is there a way to copy Shorthand program from one computer
to another when I do not have the disk anymore? Any help appreciated. I recently bought a new computer and am looking to install my ShortHand on that computer.
SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program.
SpeedType is just a different brand name and costs a whole lot more.
You cannot import into AutoText. You can copy your spf dictionary into Word and then you'll have to create the AutoText entries one by one.
Save yourself some $$ - Speedtype and Shorthand are the exact same program.

Get a decent word expansion program like PRD or Shorthand sm
autocorrect is very limited. If you want to make money, your really need a good expander.
SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Smartype only
works in MS Word.
Shorthand and Speedtype are the exact same program, just sold
under different brand names. ShortHand does have a trial version.
Not on dial-up, but use ExText. I just keep my own Shorthand program open and minimized and use it

I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM
I have used with Word and Word Perfect. I have used it with Meditech and Cerner. I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology. I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose. If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.
I was really simple to learn to use too. Very user friendly.

Great Program
I don't us MPWord, but a lot of the MTs in my group do and love it. I use MPLite and I love it! I don't use MPW simply because I bought Smartype before I found MPW. Vann Joe is absolutely the best to work with also, excellent customer service!!!
yaay! Isn't that a great program? sm
I know what you mean re: PRD vs. IT. AW is indeed impressive (and long overdue), well worth the money. Did you check out the forum on their site? This program can do a lot once you learn the scripting. I'm only scratching the surface myself... but yes, a real timesaver.
Well, hey, glad someone around here has good news and glad I could help!
I use Shorthand. It works great in there. sm
The Scribe platform is easy to use once you are used to it. My lines have doubled in the past two months. I use Shorthand for EVERYTHING.
Go to www.pcShorthand.com. There is a trial version.
I agree.... the A Beka program is great!!

I use ShortHand with my ExText. Works great! nm

How much does it cost to buy a great voice activated program...
Does anyone know how much an accurate voice activated program costs? If so, does it take a long time to train it to your voice? Will you still need to make a lot of corrections due to misinterpreted words? Is it worth buying compared to typing it out?
Thank you for any and all advice. : )
Shorthand works great with DQS and is half the price

See inside for a great website for using ShortHand/Speedtype.

Go to forums and scroll down to commands/glossaries/dictionaries then ShortHand Commands. Hope this helps.

I know of a company who is restarting up their mentoring program for newly-graduated MTs. A GREAT
company to work for - I think they are independent contractor status, though not sure about their mentoring program status. At any rate, they are willing to take new grads and help them transition into actually working! The women who owns the company is truly wonderful. I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her, though I don't at the moment. The company is Accu-Stat in Wisconsin! Keep that name somewhere on a sticky or something! Really great people, and she did mention that she really wants to restart this program she used to have for newbies! Blessings to you and good luck! Have fun! Cause it sure can be fun, while having to work, which, of course, is not fun in and of itself, huh?? Oh, to be independently wealthy. Congrats on your new baby, by the way!! And that's SO great that your Mom is there for you! You have a good example to follow!

I used Short Keys, not Short hand for Bayscribe, it worked fine.

Speedtype is also the exact same program as Shorthand, but Speedtype is a lot more expensive.
SpeedType AND ShortHand both come with a converter file that will import your AutoCorrect entries to either program. You do not have to pay Betsy to do that unless you flat can't figure out how to do it. It's not at all hard to do. Productivity Talk has posts that even tell you how to do it -- for FREE.
Ditto, short ERs or short OPs....short anything! sm
And I especially don't like long OPs, they are the most boring for me, and the doctors pause a lot cause they have to think more. I just want to be done with it! Next!!! ; )
Long short forms vs short short forms
Carla,
A long short form is usually easier to remember. So I would definitely assign the short forms as suggested by Kelli: SmithCThead SmithCTabdomen etc
In most Expander programs you would opt for a short short form as you have to type the whole short form before you can expand. In Instant Text you don't have to type the whole short form: you type the first two letters of your long short form and then you can type any of the following letters. So in this case you would type smcth for the first one, smcta, and you may also type smhead, smabd
This is possible when you use the Instant Text marker key to expand. If you use the space bar to expand, you may be better off assigning the initials as suggested in the second response, as you would not be able to "jump ahead".

{@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year is for Shorthand. Using the semicolon works with both Shorthand and
;yo = -year-old
;py= -pack-year
etc...
PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

It will count everything if you go in the settings and program it to. Good program!
Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
I took shorthand too. But it sure comes in helpful for my expanders. I view words in shorthand for
i did use shorthand once in a job but i was so nervous the "boss" took pity and dictated the report on dictaphone.
If it is Shorthand, save the SPF file to a disk, then if you buy Shorthand yourself....
you can just drop the SPF file into it. That is not dishonest since you are the one who put the macros in. I am sure is it is another Expander there is a way to save the macro file and then drop it in the expander you buy on your own.
