I bought my software and pedal, currently on my second pedal. However, I have asked for mine to be rest as I have burned up 4 top of the line computers in the past year due to this and that and the friendly too much time on your hands, here's my new gift to eat your system before the virus programs are updated. I will not repay for a license I already paid for and have the receipt due to have to reset up another computer due to a crash so I can work. I replace my pedals through them as needed but to keep paying for the same program you already paid for with no updates or changes at all is insane when a computer dies and you have to start from scratch. It should be like anything else, once you buy it, have the CD, then you have it for personal use. Do like other programs do, make it so you cannot burn the CDs but you can use it personally whenver you need to redo a puter or start from scratch after a major crash.

Uninstall software
She could do a system restore but she would have to backup any work she has done since then and then reload that work. I personally have not had good luck with the system restore. I have tried it before when I had software issues after an update and it didn't restore correctly. It just made the mess bigger to the point that I had to reformat hard drive and reinstall everything to fix it. It sounds like she is going to have a tech take a look at it.
I would uninstall SP3 and do a system restore.
I've read that SP3 can be problematic.

They guarantee their work - so I'll repeat what the other poster said - if you have the backup, go for it.
I use the online turbo tax and have had no problems the last 2 years. It is easy and fairly fast.

Satellite/VPN probs
I have the very same problem. From what I understand, there's nothing that can be done about the download speeds. Hughes won't give tech support concerning VPN issues. If anyone else has any other information, I would appreciate it. I am working with a VPN now and have satellite and can't connect, period. Does anybody know why that would be? I get a message saying that the remote computer has not responded. The last VPN I worked with, I could connect; it was just very slow.

Probs with Editscript
One of the companies I work for have recently switched over to Editscript. I have been moving and have finally settled down and for the first time this week attempted to type. The company says that you have to buy a special footpedal that goes with the software. Instead you have to use hotkeys. I could not even make my way through one dictation without giving up. It is so hard not being able to use my footpedal. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

if you determined you do have a sound card, uninstall express scribe and reinstall. sm
i have had some computer issues recently and it seemed there were some quirks with downloading it. i had to reinstall to get mine functioning although i wasn't getting the exact same response as you, but issues. i would also update your drivers if you do have a sound card before buying another one. right click my computer icon, hit properties, hardware tab, device manager, look under sound, video, and game controllers and you will see a sound card there if you have one. also notice if there are any yellow triangles or anything as those signal a conflict. email me if you need to.

Actually the flu is a 10 day to 2 week episode, with fatigue often lingering
after the symptoms begin to go away. The way to tell if it's a cold or a flu is that a cold is usually from the neck up, the flu causes body aches, fatigue, coughing, etc. Also, the duration. Colds go away much sooner than the flu.

Anyone having probs searching for docs on ExText?
Is anyone else having this problem lately? In ExText, when I search for a physician's name by using the Cntrl-A function, it is extremely slow, and about half the time, the search seems to freeze, and then I get a message that the connection has been lost. I click on "Retry", am connected, and physicians' names are displayed. The whole process is as slow as molasses, and occasionally, I get completely kicked out of the system, or everything freezes up solid. This has been happening for about 2 to 3 days.

You might want to investigate further the post someone made about 2007 and VOiP. Seems the government is all hot and bothered because they need to tap phones and cannot do so with VOiP. They probably will end up taxing and surcharging eventually, as well, but for a while it can save you a lot of money...

I do not understand why this post continues to be deleted. I am simply stating what you have already said in your statement to the board. It IS sad to think that this wonderful board, who has been so supportive of American MTs, seems to have given up the good fight. I truly believe if legislation to enforce HIPAA regulations, as well as regulations on financial records, is focused on, rather than simply trying to compete monetarily with offshoring (which, frankly, we cannot do), we will have a real chance of at least stopping the flow of medical and financial personal records from leaving this country. Just because outsourcing exists does not make it right, and as long as we continue to fight it there is a chance to make a real difference. There are still many, MANY physicians for whom the "bottom line" is not the most important aspect of transcription, and many others who have experience offshore transcription first hand and realize the quality is not there. As long as there are people in this industry like Sheri with integrity and the willingness to fight for what they believe, even if it is against the odds, there is hope. THAT is why I am quite saddened to see this particular forum, one of the staunchest supporters of US-only transcription for US physicians, fall by the wayside. I don't think I"m bashing anyone. I'm just hoping you will reconsider. We need people like you!!

At what point does delete that go to far? It's an op note and I get the pre and post diagnosis, procedure, surgeon, asst, anesthesia, etc. Then she goes on to hpi, ros, fh, sh, meds, allergies, and exam. After exam she realizes that she's doing an op note and tells me to delete that and start over from preop diagnosis. Needles to say she was an extremely difficult to understand ESL, wasted about 20 minutes of typing time that I won't get paid for and I had to split my shift.

when i worked in editscript, i typed right through microsoft word. it was prerequisite that i get rid of all msworks or it would mess everything up. i would delete msworks.
delete key
The reason the delete key is not above the arrow keys is that with this keyboard you will do as much work with your thumbs as possible. This is part of what makes it ergonomic, & I would strongly suggest re-learning "delete" in its current position rather than try to circumvent their system. When I first got my Kinesis keyboard 7 years ago I went through a whole relearning process that was kind of slow & frustrating but worth it in the long run, & now I'm glad I didn't try to do an end-run around their thought process.
But you program keys this way:
Hit "Program" (upper right-hand corner) + F11. The 4 keyboard lights will flash quickly. Then hit the key you want to reprogram. The lights will flash slowly. Then keystroke what you want the key to do. When you are finished hit Program + F11 again. The lights will go out. It's programmed.

For private MDs, I only keep their diskettes 6 months, since ALL the work and an additional diskette has been provided when I returned the work.........
If you worked for a national, you need to send the diskettes to them I would think.........that is, IF you worked for a national MT company. If not, I'd just delete them..........keeping the floppies for myself.........for future....(yep, I still use floppy disks...*LOL*).........
You say you can't cancel it - does that mean you can't delete it?
Have you tried using both the delete button on your keyboard and the delete icon in Outlook Express?
If your camera came with any kind of software, you should be able to reduce the size of the pictures so that this won't happen again. A lot of times I will do a test email and send the picture to myself to be sure it isn't too large.
If your camera didn't come with software and you don't have Photoshop (and don't want to spend the bucks for Photoshop), there are lots of freeware/shareware downloads for basic photo editing software. Just Google it and I'm sure you will find something that fits your needs.
