Mayo Clinic
They have run that ad in "Advance" for years. I had a friend who applied for it and they told her they were just "making up a list". I don't know if that has changed or not. Also, to work at home, you have to live in the Phoenix area-- no way for me! It used to be nice when I moved there in 1964 with large citrus groves, beautiful clean air, etc., but now with the traffic, high crime, illegal aliens, gangs, road rage, shootings every day, etc., it is just like living in LA. If that appeals to you, go for it, but not me! I have a horse and used to enjoy riding along the canals and cotton fields, etc. Now it is just wall to wall houses about 3 feet apart. I got out of there in 1997 and not a moment too soon!. They are trying to make the rest of Arizona just like it and ruining everything, unfortunately. It used to be a beautiful place, but not any more. Besides, all the Californians are moving here with their money and are pushing housing prices out of sight.
Mayo Clinic
I know for a fact that all of the Mayo System clinics here in Minnesota run ads just to collect resumes. They will lie and tell you that the opening has been filled, but I have an insider who tells me what is really going on and you also see the ad continue to run. There are no job openings. Not nice.
Spheris/Mayo Clinic
Anyone with info on Spheris and/or Mayo Clinic Scottsdale? I've been an IC with MQ for 10 years and it's time for a change. Need to convert to employee status. Want to still work at home. Mayo may offer that after a while. Spheris is at home all the time. Anyone know cost for health insurance with Spheris for employee and spouse and child? Thanks for any info!
if this is about the Mayo Clinic - then forget about it - sm
The Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale has been running an ad for transcriptionists for almost three years now. NO LIE!
He is a Mayo Clinic doctor - he does a ton...
.....
Why hasn't Mayo clinic signed on with a large
Like Spheris or Medquist??? What is so special about them?
Mayo Clinic in AZ has an ad for in-house MT in Advance Mag, $19/hr base pay. sm
Plus shift diff and bonus, plus $1000 sign-on bonus, and relocation $. What a great offer if it's true.
While there may be some institutions that do not care about...sm
grammar and punctuation, there are several that do. The MT should verify what is the case with each account/facility for which the transcription is being done. Grammar and punctuation make ALL documents readable.
Medical institutions are going to feel it as well. They WILL be cutting

Help, has anyone heard of or dealt with Deborah's Touch
Has anyone heard of Deborah's Touch in Arizona? I bought her course and finished it but cannot get her to okay my homework so I can test, and get a completion certificate. Has anyone been able to get results from this agency? Very frustrating and not what I was told when I paid for the course! Any ideas or guidance?
EMRs already in place and working well in larger institutions
The midsize MTSO I edit for uses an internet-based transcription system. Our programmers re-wrote some of our proprietary software so we could interface with one of our clients' (university hospital) EMR system. What it amounts to for us is that the dictator now dictates only the objective portion of the procedure/op note or followup note. The demographics, history, etc., are already in the record. In other words, what used to be a 150-line job is now less than 50.
for lung cancer in 1980.......nm

I know what you mean, I lost my dad to lung cancer....sm
about 9 months ago and then my 12-day-old grandson passed away the day after my father passed away. It seemed like for the next month or so every day I typed at least two terminal cancer patients and several sick children. It is hard not to get emotionally attached sometimes.
Believe it or not, nonsmokers get lung cancer too. It's genetic NM

Here's a different perspective on what really caused lung cancer.

I heard you get lung cancer by eating animals.

Dana Reeves lost her battle to lung cancer.
Please keep their son, Will, in your hearts and prayers as he has had to endure so much loss in the last couple of years.
Really - calm down. My MRI had me having lung cancer with metastases to lymph nodes sm
guess what - they were inflammatory active lymph nodes and not cancer at all. I am 40 years old, healthy, and was in shock when I got my MRI report. It really does depend on how experienced the radiologist is that is reading your study. Some really "over-read" studies, especially the new docs.
Needless to say, I went through all those emotions thinking "oh my gosh, I'm gonna die in a few months and leave my kids and my husband behind." This went on for 2 weeks until I had to have a medistinoscopy. I only had that done for my own peace of mind. I have 3 specialist radiologist look at my films and all said, it was probably just reactive inflammatory lymph nodes, but after hearing the "cancer" the first time - I just wanted them biopsied to know for sure so I can sleep at night.
Everything turned out fine - just as you will see - yours will probably turn out fine.
Many, and I mean many films are "over-read"!
Look on the brighter side of things - at least the Impression didn't say "metastatic lung cancer or liver cancer." Just slightly top-normal size liver and probably 99% of the American population are walking around with the same "normal" finding.
I agree with the poster below. My friend died of lung cancer
last year, and the doctors had him drinking Ensure.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I know how tough that can be.
OSi does Mayo in Florida. NM

Mayo in Scottsdale
They just make a list-- in case they ever have an opening. They have been running their ad for years.
how about using Kraft Fat-Free Mayo?
Not sure how it works with cooking, but I can't think why it wouldn't do just fine.
Guess that means my husband is doomed....quit 15+ years ago (46 now)--GF had lung cancer
so either cancer will get him (his dad had bladder cancer, doing fine now but it did recur and lost his kidney about 10 months ago)...figure either cancer or cirrhosis will get him (drinks 8-12 "light" beers a day...for over 20+ years). So can you say semi-young widow?? (39). Naw....he will probably live forever, which is good.....lots of longevity in his family despite the cancer. Good.
Health department here said straight mayo. SM
Slathered it on, put on a shower cap and left it for hours. Not only were the lice gone, but our hair was so soft and shiny and conditioned!
As a former supervisor of Mayo's Transcription Dept.
I can say that, yes, they continually run ads whether they are hiring or not. HR keeps resumes on file and refers to them as they need to fill a slot. Mayo is not the easiest place to work. Incoming MTs have to go through pretty rigorous training and you have to have 3 passing QAs before you can work out of the home. Many of the dictators are horrible due to their very thick accents or racing dictation methods. It's been a while since I've worked there, but when I did, I know that their word processing system was rather cumbersome and required a lot of mouse work and their Expander wasn't very good either.
clinic is not walk-in or ER notes; it is clinic
could be a small clinic with just famiy practice, internal medicine, maybe physical therapy, or it could be like mine, large, every speciality, cardio, nephro, neuro, ortho, endo, surgery, ENT, podiatry, ophtho, derm...
I've tried mayo cooking fish - DELISH (sm)
for cholesterol-watching husband, JUST DON'T TELL HIM - he'll never know
When I worked at Mayo the desks had the capability of raising up. The keyboard,
so you could stand and type. It was a refreshing change. I really liked the set up. Mayo paid a chunk of change for those desks and there were over 90 MTs in our office.
I think you're a little off center
Attitude has nothing whatsoever to do with "success" these days. I personally know too many MTs, working for different companies, with very legitimate complaints and they aren't the cry baby types. I am a good MT also but what difference does that make if there's no work? I always asked the same question, "Do your MTs run out of work?" I do not have time to sit around all day waiting to see if there might be some work to do...either I work or I don't. Every recruiter assured me that there was plenty of work. They lied. I have worked now for 2 years for the same company and this time the recruiter told me there was plenty of work and obviously there is or I wouldn't still be there. If and when I start running out of work with them, I am out of MT period. So, I guess, I have to revise my first statement a little. If anyone finds the right company for them, then attitude probably does have everything to do with success. As for myself, I rarely hear anything from the company I work for other than regularly getting my pay stub that my pay has been direct deposited on time and for the correct amount. I think some MTs put too much emphasis on line rates. 1500 lines per day at 8.5 cpl comes out to a whole lot more than 200 lines at 15 cpl. As for my line rate, it isn't terribly impressive but I make as much as I want to make and don't have to kill myself doing it so these days that's about all one can expect IMO.
We have a bowling center
And our employees get free bowling, lol!!
How do I center something in Word?
thanks

Jen: Is that the one in Gadsden? with Tina Parker as president? You can email me for more info, but I worked for them for 2 1/2 years and I would not recommend it to anyone. Thanks, Beth
Dell's support center
Dell provides technical support from their American staff only to CORPORATE clients, all others, like you and me, we get INDIA.
The medical center by my home is the same (sm)
The last time I was in there the receptionist said that all their dictation is done by EMR. The doctor pulls up the patient file, dictates into a little black machine, and it is automatically put into the record. The receptionist said this is done at THEIR medical center and ALL THEIR SATELLITES. I was not at all happy to hear this. They used to have transcriptionists.
It's probably a telemarketing call center
using a computerized sequential dialer program - I think they've been outlawed in most of the US states. If you have caller ID, just don't answer unless you know who's calling.
Here are some more - Maine Medical Center, sm
Fairview Health System, Gwinnett Medical Center, Atlanta, Piedmont Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess, Charlston Medical Center, West Virginia, Pacific California Hospital, UMass hospital, Marin General Hospital, California, New England Baptist, and the list goes on and on and on.
No, it does not. The call center is probably overseas

I miss working with other people. I miss having a QA person or a supervisor I know and can go talk to. I miss the hospital gossip and hearing about people's grandkids. Sigh. I left them to work at home figuring it would be all that. But it's not. Sigh....

It depends on what department you are going into. Are you Medical Records MT? or Radiolgy MT?
The surgery center personnel are just as guilty, IMO. sm
Doctors are not untouchable. Any nurse or tech or secretary who has direct knowledge of a doctor using illegal substances and going into surgery is contributing to the problem.
I do virtual call center work and was having sm
trouble with people knocking and calling me interrupting my work. They were always asking for dumb things! (I'm single and this is our only income.)
The more time for homeschooling was a surprise!
We have been to the park more too. He is getting to bed by 8:30 (before it was Always after 10 no matter what I did) and I'm getting more sleep too.
Thank you for the help and advice. :)
SIL says she went through Wellspan Community Health Center. sm
any idea how to call them? i am not finding that exact name info. i did find roseann freundel as a DO student in WV but just pictured and an article. no contact info.
Actually a surgery center is acute care.
But surgery is surgery. Clinic work is not transcribing anything too invasive other than a Botox injection if you're lucky. I would think about that rate for transcribing surgeries. 8.5 is low.
