Thanks for all of the input. I would much rather not type the slang but we are told to type as doctor dictates -- slang and all. :-( I guess from this point forward I will go with the majority of the board. Thanks so much!!!

Satting vs Sating
If client specification is verbatim, then satting would be the choice. Otherwise, expanded.
Sating or Satting on room air?
Okay here we go again. I was told by one person in QA to type satting. Did that with the next report containing that phrase -- it went to some other person in QA who told me no satting is wrong it is to be typed sating. Okay which is it? You can't have it both ways. How is an MT expected to come off of full QA status when she keeps getting conflicting information as to how these ER reports are to be typed? You do it they way one QA person says and then the next QA person comes along and tells you that you have made a "major medical error". Come on -- what are we supposed to do? I have tried to address the "person in charge" regarding conflicting statements and get no answer. Glad I have a second MT job without all this stress because it is just not worth it for what little money we get per line these days.
Sating or Satting on room air?
AAMT says on page 234, language to avoid, sometimes a noun or adjective is used as a verb. If possible edit awkwardly created verbs.
Of course, you may get some QA person who tells you the account is verbatim and to type what they say.
Examples given are D: Stool was guaiac'd. T: Stool guaiac test was done.
Therefore, I vote to avoid sating or satting, which is not verifiable in any book, and change it to room air saturations or saturations on room air.
As for what to do with conflicting information, ask QA for page numbers and references where they got their info and if you get 2 references with conflicting information, then choose the one you like best and go with it.
I vote for satting
You would double the "t" here just as you would in matting, batting, tatting, cutting, etc.
