The people who own Same Day live in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. I used to work for them and will again if I can find the time. Nice people. They pay well and on time.
I agree with Megan.

Wow,with MQ being in New Jersey that would be awful with the taxes in New Jersey.
:
Line-based vs. hour-based requirement
Hospitals do have an hourly requirement, and generally incentive after a certain line level. MQ only has a line based requirement, which is 12,000 per pay period. The hourly requirement is strange, unless they now plan to convert to an hourly pay plan?
You must be from New Jersey office.
as an MT you'd have a different attitude.

I have been in the same boat since being transferred to Amherst. I have contacted New Jersey and
spoken with one of THOSE WOMEN and have gotten very little response other than oh we will see what we can do and things continue to just go on the way they were. I think it will take a lot of people calling Human Resources and emailing those 2 women or getting transferred or quitting that will change things MAYBE. Are many people quitting up there in Amherst. I know since my office has been transferred they are quitting now.
Has anyone heard of the company Trans-Scribe out of New Jersey
If so, any pro's or con's
You can check the web sites of the major heart centers in the US, too, like Deborah in New Jersey,

Transcriptions, Ltd
I worked for a company called Transcriptions Lts from 1984 until the mid 90's when another company took them over. I thought TL had dissolved. If it is the same company, it was a great, small company to work for.
ANP Transcriptions
Michelle,
Thank you for your question. My name is Errol Stryker and I am the Production Manager at ANP.

We are a fast paced, consistently growing company, that prides itself on delivering high-quality transcripts that are turned around quickly. We accomplish this through good organization skills and cutting edge file access technology.

It is preferred that our contractors turn around about 1 hour of recorded audio within a 24 hour time frame. If your skills and needs can accommodate it, then we can provide more audio than that on a regular basis. Our main focus is to make sure that we know what your needs are, and what we can expect from you. With that information, we assign work that fits your schedule/workload needs and fulfills the turn-around expectations of our clients.

Since we have such a large range of clients, the projects our transcribers work on change constantly.

Our clients range from world wide medical and pharma companies to small research groups, police departments, to churches. And everything else in between.

Some of these projects are rush jobs, most are not. I would be lying if I said that we provide perfect audio each time. I would love that for our team, but the reality is that we have to work with whatever our clients give us.

What is nice about the variety of work we get is that we can offer a healthy mix of content and quality.

All audio can be downloaded from a personalized online folders. In that folder one can access all necessary templates, guidelines and sample documents.

In addition to having easy access to your audio, we provide large amounts of support. We have a dedicated email account that fowards all "help" issues to everyone in the production department. If your issue is time-sensitive and critical to your project, we will get back to you, even if it's 11 at night. Also, our proofers are available to answer all of your formatting questions during the course of a project.

We only ask that you practice healthy communication habits and submit good work by the agreed upon deadlines.

I hope I have answered all your questions.

If you have any questions that I have not addressed please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi!  Has anyone heard of this company and have an opinion?  I am looking for a position at home (preferrably Radiology but I can do acute care "kinda") and I am nervous about all the national companies.  I don't know who to trust. I don't know what equipment I must purchase or even  how to set it up!  I worked from home for a local hospital for many years and also 3 years for a service who provided all equipment.  Any advice would be appreciated!

transcriptions have a skill also
as far as looking up addresses go!
It was Dependable Transcriptions, I think
Just so we all know where NOT to look for work! LOL
canned transcriptions
I think I would ask the company if I can correct all the errors. I have done that with my employer and he is happy that I have fixed things. I can't stand to have things be wrong and have my name on them.
disabled transcriptions
Thanks to all of you that gave me an answer.  It is for my friend and I will pass on the information as this is something that she really wants to do as being disabled it is much easier working from home than trying to use public transportation in our little rural town.   I will certain pass on you sugestions.
Same Day Transcriptions IS a US Company
You people don't know what you're talking about. I've been working for Same Day Transcriptions for three years. The company is owned by a young couple who live and work in New Jersey.

I do know that they have a facility in Manila because the wife (I will leave names out of this) is from there, but they live in New Jersey. I also know that they have - like me - transcriptionists around America too and they are very good to us.

It's one thing to bash a company that is bad, but these are good, honest people. That article was very unfair, not to mention inaccurate.

I think we should all rememebr that just because it's written in a newspaper doesn't make it true. I am really tired of seeing these threads of false rumors hurt good people. Please have more responsiblity about what you post.

legal transcriptions...sm
Cold you please explain a little further why you hated legal transcriptions?
Does one also go through a training for that and needs a certificate for that?
Also ASR?
I guess payment is equal to MT?
Thanks

California Transcriptions Unlimited...SM
No schedule, no line commitment.  They presently have an ad on the Job Seeker's Board.  All radiology.
Transcriptions Unlimited Denver?sm
In Vegas now, but from Colorado Springs. Miss Colorado too.
Transcriptions, you are saying, are unskilled workers?
I spent over a year training for this job. It took my total attention, I spent so much time in books be it the regular dictionary or medical books. I thought I could go right into transcribing because after all, I had worked in hospitals, medical offices and the like and if I were not a trained professional then, I do not know what it was. Very, very hard for me to understand the ESL physicians and most of the hospital dictators just that, training hospital. I was glad I kept it up but I in no way demean the profession I choose for myself but putting a slant on it like you have. I feel sorry for anyone thinking in this day and time they will be able to make a liveable salary because it would take more than 1 job to do that, a full and a part I would think. Our jobs started being outsourced and that is why the really lousy salaries now, I do not think has to do with being unskilled.
Same Day Transcriptions IS a US Company - I work for them
I would like to clear the record for a good company that I have been working for for over two years now - Same Day Transcriptions.

Same Day Transcriptions is an American company. I know this because I have been working for them for over two years now. The owners are a young couple who live in New Jersey. She is Filipoino and it is my understanding that her family also works for them in Manila. I know that they employ many people like myself right here in the US.

I get very irritated with people (reporters) who spread gossip without checking the facts first. These are good, honest people who don't deserve that kind of slander.

Anyone looking for a good company to work for, I highly recommend talking to Same Day Transcriptions. They always have a lot of work and they are very fair people.

Rochelle Patrick, CMT
When I was an IC, I just used my initials like this: "XXX Transcriptions, Inc"

NM means "no message," so why are you looking?

Any current info on X-press Transcriptions?
I was told that I passed their test and was sent an IC contract out, but just wondering about any good/bad experiences before I sign for sure.  Also, how are the pay and accounts?  Thanks!
Curious question about overseas transcriptions...sm
Do companies that outsouce work overseas have to pay taxes on the money they pay to the companies overseas or do the overseas companies have to pay taxes on work they do for the US? TIA.
Just curious if MQ/TL in your message meant Transcriptions Limited, Nashville, TN, bought by MQ?..nm
nm
I don't think so - my pay is based
on my base rate of 9 cpl and then my incentive that can be as high as 2 cpl.

Nothing was mentioned about extra pay for weekends or holidays.

M, based on what you know,,,,
from doing transcription for an insurance company, what do you feel is a fair price to charge per page.  The font is Courier new 12; the right and left margins are 1.5 inches - each side, with the top and bottom margins being 1.0 inch - each side.
If her job was based on that and they
found her out I guess they could fire her, but unless she is saying she is an MD or such and practicing, doubt it.
Have set up the new web-based email,

still not getting any info that you are "quoting" on this board.

Wonder why ALL MT's are not getting the same info???

levels are based on what you can
do, i.e., can you do ANY type of report or only clinic notes? the more types of work you are able to do the higher your level. Supervisor told me about levels, I think they are relatively new.
I think your compensation would be based on the...sm.
following:  Your level of experience, the time that you are able to commit to transcribing each day, your use of expanders, your baseline typing skills, your ability to utilize the software package utilized by the company, your ability to adapt, and you ability to negotiate your line rate.
DOS based system
Has anyone ever worked for a company that is DOS based? I started a new job today, and their system is in DOS. To me it is really old-school, but I guess I will just have to learn.
American-based here!

What exactly is a DOS based program?
I think I have heard this is kind of an outdated platform; is it really?  Also, is it anything like Word or WordPerfect, and is it complicated and slow to use?  THANKS!!!
Most are internet based. $$$

Based on the definition above...
I would come away from viewing that site with an unfavorable impression and unjustly so for the name of the company as well.

I think there's a good argument for libel there.
Yes it is word-based and it is a
terrific program.  I give it 2 thumbs up.
Word based.

Ask for time-based pay
You're an independent contractor. That means you can choose what you do. If an account is not productive for you, you do not have to do it. You can make a suggestion for another type of compensation.

Write out the issues with the account. Keep a log of the time it takes you to do each part of the task. Figure out a charge for that part of the report--like a surcharge for the demographics or whatever it is that takes all that time.

Present that to the service with a request that you be compensated adequately for the work. Specify exactly what that needs to be. You can do this verbally, but a written copy would be good.

They may be unaware that this account is such a problem. It may be that when you point out the issues objectively and dispassionately, in a business-like manner, they'll see the light.

If they do not agree to do compensate you, be prepared to leave. Find another job and, if you really want to remain with these people -- although I can't imagine why you would want to, other than due to inertia -- explain that you would really like to stay, but you cannot under the circumstances. Your previous written explanation of the inadequate compensation should be helpful here.

If you do look for a new job, don't quit this one until you're settled in at the new one. Even if you have to work 2 jobs a while, do so until you are sure the new job is ok. Then quit the old one.

Be sure to be very polite and give adquate notice so you can return if you need to later.

Is that Medrite windows based or DOS? nm
nm
I think it was based on 65-character line

All these formulas are confusing to me. I guess I need to ask some more questions. But, it's also an IC position, so that makes a difference doesn't it? Low pay for that? But, you are right, might be good experience.

The treatments are based on weight normally.

I have a Frontline spray and it can be used on either, 1 to 2 pumps per pound, but if you have the other kind it is premeasured based on weight.   Can you call your vet and ask them?  The people at the front desk should be able to answer your question.

I looked on-line and there is only 1 dosage sold for cats, but it didn't say what the dosage was so I couldn't compare it to a dog dosage.

If you buy your flea treatment from your vet check out www.entirelypets.com.

You R probably right about PRD/Dos. That Cottage Prog I was on was DOS-based. I have never used

Will go check that out in case the tower turns out to be too expensive right now.

Need help with Word-based expanders ....sm

I am starting with All-Type soon, and the handbook says that their platform works with any Word-based expander.  That's all fine and good, but I have never used one.  I'm a PRD+ girl from the old WP51 days, and currently work in Bayscribe, and the Expander in it is a lot like PRD.  Are any of the Word-based Expanders like that?  I tried Instant Text once and hated it.  I don't want popup windows and such.  I like it to be simple, like PRD ... enter copdd and get chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc.  Are any like that?

Thanks for your help!

Winscribe-is this Word based? nm
nm
It is based on lph, not total lines sm
produced.  It is based on lines per hour over the total pay period.  200 lph, one bonus, 300 lph, another bonus.  Per line bonus based on all line produced.
None from what I can figure based on the numbers - sm
listed below. The amount of lines was the same for 65 cpl with spaces versus 55 cpl without spaces. So I'd say you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The smaller number of characters per line is your saving factor. Wish I had a 55 cpl, but I get 65 cpl w/o spaces and by comparison lose about $200 a month due to this. Like I said you have nothing to lose, lucky duck!
Web based transcription/dictation
The company I now work for has asked me to look into web based transcription/dictation applications.  They are currently using tapes, and going to a web-based application would be a real time saver.  Does anyone have suggestions?
have 18. expand library based on your need,
not on what the 'jones' have going on!!
Not anymore. Most are internet based.
