You're forgetting that because we have outsourced almost 100% of our manufacturing jobs, our pharmaceuticals (Yes, your drugs are made off shore, almost 90% of them), and are increasingly dependent on goods from foreign countries, that if something happens in those countries, either a political upheaval or a natural disaster, we will not have our drugs, our oils or our widgets at any price.
The only people who benefit from globalization are corporations. They can manufacture cheaply in poor nations and then sell at top dollar to idiots like us here in the U.S.A. who will buy anything at any price from any country because we don't know who to deny ourselves anything and don't have a backbone to stand up for ourselves or our fellow citizens.

Gadgets or widgets are (sm)....
...little applications (also called "applets") that add extra functionality to a web application like your iGoogle homepage (you have to have a Google account, but they're free).
For instance, one gadget might show you the local weather after you tell it your zip code. Another gadget might present news headlines. Another gadget might provide you with an appointment calendar. Each person decides for herself which gadgets they want showing up on their homepage by browsing through a large list of them and selecting them - usually by a button that says "add this" or words to that effect.
