Reading your post and frankly, my dear,

I do not believe if you transcribe 200 lph manually that you can do 6500 lines a day on Escription. Manually I always typed 250 or more an hour. I now work on Escription and have for some time. You would have had to go from manual from 1600 lines a day to over 800 lph. I have NEVER done 800 an hour and have done Escription now for 5 years. If I kept my foot on the pedal without making the first correction I do not think 800 would be possible. You must be in sales for the Escription platform.

Frankly my dear...
We MQer's are soooo sick of the whining non-MQers who just don't "get it." Sorry if U have so little energy that navigating around our posts is so darn hard on U. Sheesh.
Frankly my dear, I don’t give a
hoot about what my family or anyone else would THINK about my work, why should I spend my time even considering that?? You only need to burn energy for things you can change, not things you cannot. I think it is a waste of time. People will think what they want to think and all the breath in the world will not change them. Let others vent, I could care less. I have more important things to do besides wondering what people think of me, my family, my pets, etc. I live my life like I want to. As you age, you really could care less about what people think. Waste of time. Do like Sylvia Browne says, if anything toxic around you, be it a child or whatever, you put it aside. Life is too short, much too short.
after reading THAT post, certainly...sm
certainly happy you don't work for me and happy you're happy too about it....
Changing poor non-English (ESL) dictation to reflect gramatically correct reports, using the poor dictation sample provided by the original poster, isn't changing the doctors words, nor patient care. If you want to attach your name to that, and the OP stating she/he is refusing to correct what she/he knows is supposed to be, BE_MY_GUEST!!
Your comment about how long YOU *think* I've been dealing with MDs speaks tomes.......been in and around this business probably longer than you've been alive!!
After reading the above post..sm
I was going to say the same thing, basically. I use macro's all the time, too, but I would also like to know what exactly the macro feature is CAPABLE of doing. I know the place I work for just designed a macro to line count and change font on a whole folder of typed files at one time. It is things like this that I would like to know...how do you *program* macros to do this??? So, I know what you are saying.
Reading your post...
I'm sure it is. I could have written that same thing exactly!!
What is up with that?
Re-reading your post.
"Shouldn't the line counts be exact since the company issued their own program? The program works with MS Word's count, and their reasoning is that Word counts differently on different computers" So, are you using a program that uses Word or are you just using the properties as listed in the actual Word document?
"Is MS Word that inaccurate on their counts on different computers?" If you had already checked with MS they why are you asking us to tell you something different?
Bottom line, ASK THE MTSO. Verify that your settings match. The posters on this board couldn't possibly answer that question for you.
After reading your post, I'd have to say
it seems that your hospital wants to take advantage of you both as an employee and as an IC. I don't think those 2 should mix. I would start with the Labor Department for your state. They should have a website to answer some of the general questions and probably can direct you to the more specifics. You may need to file a complaint with them. Good luck.
AWESOME! Reading your post gives...
...me more hope than I have had in awhile (since I have been seeing this coming). Can you give me anything concrete (or ideas where to look) to include in the presentation? I need to jump on this. I feel like I have been given a gift, and YOU are Santa Claus!
And it was 'funs' reading your post.

loved reading this post :)
i absolutely adore houses, and thought that is why i would take the real estate class, it wasn't to "make money" like most, it was simply because i cannot get enough of houses. I have drug my boyfriend around to all the new houses going up to look at the "model homes" and there aren't any left! I try to get him to go to open houses with me all the time and he always refuses, and I always have trouble understanding who wouldn't want to look at different homes!! haha. but like i said that dream ended when I had to get all the technical learning... so boring.
I'm now in my late 20s and I'm just feeling like my life is in such a downward turn now that I know transcription won't last forever. I now have a mortgage to pay (because i was making enough a couple years ago) and now I'm barely scraping by. I'm going to look for other work but it's scary for me. I know I am young (but i dont always feel it) but your stories of different jobs inspired me. I feel sometimes I should go back to school but I'm afraid the commitment isn't there on my part...
I know I have it better than a lot of others so I am thankful for that... but it doesn't mean Im not sometimes feeling lost!
I remember when I learned transcription 10 years ago, my mom taught me as she has done it for like 30 years now... it was hilarious :) but now 10 years later I feel strong and good at it and it's hard to wonder if I'll every find something else that I feel that way about :)
I am reading your post and thinking
i have been doing this work for years and years, can hold (as per my previous boss) a conversation on almost anything, I read a lot, interested in things going on around me and yet I could not tell you what is north, south, east or west. Raised a family, owned my own home, but my father always amazed that I was not able to stand in a yard and know which way south, north, etc. I am also challenged with anything doing with math. My family kids me with the fact if I could not type fast and spell I would have really been in trouble!!!
After reading your post, I have to comment
Ella states: "It's not fair to form one's opinion of people by their nationality or ethnic background..."
"New Yorkers and damyankees are rude, abrupt and downright hateful."
You state it is unfair, but you've just passed along your own stereotypical close-minded opinion with this post.
Substitute nationality and ethnicity for Northerners and folks outside your little circle there in Texas and bingo Ella! You're a hypocrite.
I am from NYC. I happen to think you're words above are ruder than most NY'ers. In all my years, I've not been as offended by something or someone as much as I have been just reading your post.
Feel free to share more of your prejudices and sling further insults all you want, but it's plain to anyone reading your offensive post above that you speak from the side of your face and are filled with hate.

In reading your post, I just want to hug that poor little girl.
I can't imagine how depressed she must be.
Reading my own post .. .i realize I messed it up!
and it didnt read that it was my first time SELLING on Ebay... Sorry, but you guys got the message.. THANKS
I was thinking the same thing before reading your post!
lol Reading all of this, your post struck me funny.
You state that you would think her equipment is paid for by now. You would? Considering what? You know her? LOL You know her equipment purchases or lease agreements or what?! LOL
It just seems like everyone is assuming quite a bit.
She sounds like she has more than a rinky-dink small-time business.
I especially love the "get rid of the QA" vote! As if that poster has any clue what her needs are or what her contractual obligations are!
Just kind of funny to me.
And I don't understand why you are not reading this post correctly, it says
being as it was elective on my part, all lawyers I contacted said no case. What else can I say?? Simple, elective, you did it to your own self, not like you had to have.....
I was very spooky reading your post because you are describing me and you have no idea who I am.
I have tried over and over the diet thing and I hate how I look, although, I think there are some heavy people out there that do not care and are very outgoing even though they are heavy, unfortunately that is not me. I tend to not want to go to social things because of it. I am very lucky too in that I am almost 6', I could not imaging weighing my weight and only being 5'4".
Does anyone else have trouble reading this post and previous one from this poster?
It is hard to read when correct punctuation, etc. is not used. I know everyone returns to work. I am just saying that it would be nice not to return to 40 hrs worth of typing & it be expected to be caught up on the day I return. Call me crazy, but I believe there are only 24 hrs/day. I may not be able to read this post well, but I can do math! It is also not fair for them to dump all my work on 1 other person. Jobs come & go, but children grow up & life is too short. I would like to thank those who posted support & compassion & hope when this poster needs help, you will overlook her insensitivity & give support anyway.
Your post should be required reading for anyone wanting to do at-home MT to be with kids...SM
I just don't get why people think that just because MT *can* be done at home that it's appropriate to try to do it with babies or small children in your care. It's no different from any other kind of on-site job...you couldn't very well take a baby to any other kind of job, so why is MT any different? It's not, and I wish people (mostly women) would lose the notion that MT is a good option for them *just because* they happen to have little kids.
I feel kinda lazy reading your post as i'm content just
Where I feel crazy, I set a goal of around 300 lines an hour (ha! not with these dictators but 250 is still good), every two hours make a snack to get me moving. I love juicing veggies and making fruit smoothies in the blender, coffee makes me nuts. I also do calisthenics (sp?) every couple of hours for about three minutes to keep my blood flowing and keep toned. I walk the dog two times a day for about 10 minutes to get energized from the sun and keep a good color. I take an hour break to watch good ol Judge Judy, and fix myself something nice n yummy, and after Judy I crank out my last hour called the 'power hour' where I take no prisoners and smoke comes off my keyboard! Like a race to the finish line.
I can't see how you could do the 20 and the 10 minute clean break, that would slow me down! Maybe I should take cleaning breaks, because I never want to clean when I have a block of time off and the dirt just collects.
Can point in a direction but takes reading, re-reading sm
Goggle.com and enter various phrases to get articles and companies. I use a free doanload of ExpressScribe, yep, it is free. They have a number of various software things on their site to read and perhaps one will fit. The express Scribe is a piece of sotware to download, it is very simple and I like simple. You can listen and transcribe various voice file formats. You can use a wav pedal one is called a serial pedall and I think it is 9 pin and plugs in the back of PC and also another pedal I think a 15 pin wav pedal and goes in the USB port in front. However, you can also use it without a pedal and it works fine. You use a couple of key to stop, pause, rewind, I forget the key. There are a lot of pedals so don't just jump in. On this site you may benefit from emailing the company after reading and rereading, even if you don't understand. .

This year is just not as good as last year. Maybe it's because the contestants aren't as good as last year, I don't know, but I do know that I'm becoming bored with the whole show!

Frankly, this all sounds hateful. sm
Saying you hate coddling minorities, etc., is pretty scary. What's wrong with a play that includes the full religious and cultural beliefs of the season rather than just yours?
And yes, you could probably tell there weren't any blacks in the audience, but you couldn't tell if there were any Jews.
There's a lot of hate here and a lot of xenophobia. Frankly, the attitudes don't sound much like Jesus at all.
I got some last year and frankly, don't seem to work...sm
for me. I think they would probably do better with boots on, but that isn't going to happen. They seem to just heat in the toes and really not very much. Don't keep me any warmer than heavy socks. I also have some socks that are to microwave. They have beads all through the bottom of the sock. Not bad, but very temporary and tough to walk with.
Quite frankly Karen, I LOVE MY JOB!!!
I love my company, my hours, and most of all, I feel I am paid an honest wage (more than I was making in-house at a hospital). So, no, it is not ALL bad. I went through several companies and was very discouraged, but no longer. Good luck to you.
Frankly, I am not too concerned with offshore
MTs that give up their control to a company until their lives are adversely affected.
I frankly am amazed that most let this happen
When I had to work and support a family I did not have the option of sitting around and waiting on work. Hubby and I had a talk about this just last night. He said as long as they allow it to happen it will continue. Years ago as a divorced mother who had a family to support, out of work, well then I got out and found something else. I was never without work, in fact I worked several transcription jobs because I always wanted to have more money as I loved to travel and hated to not be able to buy like I wanted to. Never had food stamps, no welfare, nothing from outsiders, just me doing it. Bought a home on my own, cars, traveled, food always on the table. I never just sat and waited for work.
Quite frankly I am surprised at Snow Bunny
You have been on these boards long enough to know better. I am very surprised you would say such things in the manner you did. I always held you in such respect. Goes to show, you never really know someone.
Frankly, if you are an educator, I'm am surprised at your response...
aren't you required to have ongoing training regarding learning disabilities and disorders such as ADHD? After all, federal law requires that teachers provide accomodations for this "fake disease" so maybe you better catch up with what evidence-based medicine is teaching these days.
Frankly, Frank's rank rankles the ranks!
AAMT has been working on that for a long time. Frankly sm
I would prefer AAMT start working on getting us better working conditions, a more standardized and fair pay scale, and benefits, instead of certifying offshore MTs and getting involved in offshoring to the extent that they are. Really, now, which do you care most about?
QA works on quota. Frankly, they don't try that hard, either, to fill in the blanks.

Thank you dear!
But, my dear, you see, when you are able to
see another MTs line counts and the job #s that they have done, and how they skip many, many reports, when the work was sent and how the job #s went for each job type, you then KNOW when someone is cherrypicking!!! It is also great that you are able to go into the system and check out the job #s she DID and know that they were the best of the best dictators!! Believe me, it does make a huge difference to those of us who do not cherry pick. The account I work on is relatively small and only 5 or 6 MTs working on the account. When the cherry picker has her two days off, I really, really make great line counts. The rest of the week is a real struggle. I say keep showing the other MTs work.
This is definitely not someone's hallucination; it is a reality and happens all the time. Once an MT gets all the proof she needs, then it is only common sense that she should go to the supervisor to point it out and the situation should be corrected. What I try to do, at times, is go on very early in the morning, around 2:00 AM; do all the "crap" that she left for me plus then be able to get some of the good guys. There have been times where I've been tempted to skip the bad just like her and leave her the bad!! However, then I feel guilty!! Cherry pickers need to be ousted from MT work. Do the job that comes up and be happy about it!!
Then my dear ..
You have no clue about the workings of an inner city. I am not saying walk into bullets or gangs .. what I am saying is that you have no clue how the plantation mentality looks to the rest of this world .. lining up all the wrongs do not make them right and it is downright ignorant to be so obviously insensitive to those who live differently than you do. Mother help us all when there are people like you who have no concern for simple human suffering .. this is not a race issue god blast it .. it is a human issue and we all got here and are going out of here the same damned way.
Hello there my dear
You HAVE deserved it honey. But this post is neither the time or place to discuss your "bonus." (I am chuckling and I think you know why).
My dear, I think you know your beauty is more important to me than any report you could ever type. Perhaps, the next time I drive by, you could be in, um, lets say, your birthday suite? UH OH - I hope my wife don't catch me on here (shaking in my boots).
Smooches and Kisses my lovely.
Frankie Boy
Sorry, my dear
I am sorry you had to share it with so many women that night. It was getting difficult to get 15 gals hands around it.
Believe it or not, my dear...
Until recently MQ was THE best company around - and many of us do not want to "jump ship" just yet - we're trying to figure out how to "take a sad song and make it better" and not have to go to these other truly foul companies that aren't big enuf to pay what MQ pays and benefits MQ has which most other companies can't begin to compete with. Its like New York City - people complain about its problems all the time but nobody wants to leave to go to Podunk, Iowa. Well, we don't want to go to Podunk Transcription Company, thank U very much. MQ has a huge amount of potential and the fact they are going thru changes is to be expected - and we have every right to work together on a solution for us all. So go back to Podunk!
OH DEAR!
Much work! I would like to add ADHD has nothing to do with intelligence and autistics would never be able to speak out a story as you have detailed, or plan a revenge, especially weeks ahead. Her previous environment and genes I think win the cause of her behavior, and sociopath does comes to mind, seriously, and children do and are maturing much earlier now-a-days. . .especially females.
Thanks dear!!!!nm

Oh dear!!
Yes, veteran MT made a typo on CONTINUE....happens from time to time with rheumatoid arthritis and AGE....still trying to make a decent living....even after a big pay cut for me and fellow account MTs from my current employer without a reasonable explanation. Unfortunately, I do not see the situation changing for the better for any American MT. Have a beautiful Saturday.
Dear RE
I believe you should contact an attorney or Google "free legal advice" and ask these questions. I do think you would still be violating your non-compete even though they pursued you. You should explain that to the company recruiting you and they should understand. Good luck to you.
Dear QA . . .
I understand there are two sides. I have nothing against QA -- really I don't. I feel we all learn and better ourselves from mistakes. However, I think everyone needs to be on the same page and QA would do better to leave out nasty comments when there is no need for them. Really I left a blank while typing an ESL doc that I had only typed 1 time before and QA faulted me for omitting dictation? Since when is leaving a blank for a word or two you cannot understand omitting dictation? And when I questioned in writing the "QA Head" about conflicting feedback she/he never bothered to respond. Do you have any idea how confusing that is? I want to do right by the company and be a good MT but how is that possible when no two QA people follow the same rules? I am the first to admit I am far from perfect but I give it my all. With almost every other MT job I have had I was taken off QA within a week or two. I guess I was already angry because my check was late, this only added fuel to the fire. There are days I feel good and days I am made to feel lower than dirt. I pray this board will always be here for those of us that need to scream and vent. :-)
no, dear, it's all about you and how you - sm
and how you utilize yourself with the knowledge and tools you have accumulated.
sheesh...you just Won't (not Don't) get it.
Oh, dear.
Doctors do not take it kindly when you take a swing at them. (Just ask that unfortunate, long-gone children's dentist I once went to....)
But seriously... take a good deep breath, let it out, then take another one, and remember, it'll all be over quickly. And whatever you do, do NOT watch that needle coming at you!!
Interestingly... I was about your age when I thought I was going to have to change jobs. Of course, back then, I'd been doing MT for about 8 years on typewriters, and I'm not sure they'd invented the word "ergonomics" back then... and the workman's comp carrier laughed in my face, because they hadn't figured out the concept of repetitive strain injuries back then either, except when it came to farm workers using short-handled hoes.... But "girls" sitting at desks? Fuhgeddaboudit. Go fix your lipstick, and shut up. (No, not quite, but close.)
Anyway... keep that left wrist immobilized as much as you possibly can, and watch out that you don't overcompensate with your other hand and make it start hurting too! (I know whereof I speak. Trust me.) Do whatever you can to adjust ALL of your daily movement activities--every little bit helps--and speaking from the point of view of an old geezer-chick, get used to living with pain. 'Cause the older you get, trust me, something hurting is going to be a way of life. You just sort of learn to ignore it after a while. Case in point--that would be me, still transcribing nearly 30 years after I thought I was going to have to quit.
And get that computer arrangement fixed up! :)
