If you are transcribing short chest, abdomen and bone reports pay per report may work out for you. However, if you are working for a hospital who does MRI, CT and Neurointerventional procedures, pay per report is a rip. For example, yesterday I only did 72 reports. If paid by report, even at $2/per report that only amts to $144. However, my line count was 2173 and I am currently making .10/line and that gave me $217.30 for the day. Sorry, but I do not know how much is the going rate for per report...I've heard everything from $1.25 to $2.00.
