Are there any RHIT's out there that could give me any imput. Is it better to go ahead and go for your RHIT then decide if you would like to get a specialization afterwards, such as MT, or CPC(coding), etc. What home based/online programs exist that offer RHIT. Anyone heard of Penn Foster?

RHIT
I'm an RHIT and my certification has definitely been a factor in boosting my income. I have had two positions that agreed to my higher requested starting salary, and one specifically told me they agreed because of my degree and certification. Coincidentally, both administrations subsequently raised the overall payscale for all of the transcriptionists to be equitable with my salary. It was a great boon for all concerned!
I have the RHIA (more than RHIT) and I don't get any extra! nm

I have held all the positions I mentioned without having an RHIT.
She was asking for ideas. I gave her some.
Maybe it was tough for you but it doesn't have to be for her. :)
But don't you now put RHIT on your resume since that's the current official title? sm
I earned my RRA, but in the time since I earned it the AHIMA has changed the title to RHIA, so that is what is on my resume.
