doctor credentials
I just got new health insurance and am searching for a new doctor.  Does anyone know of a web site where I can check credentials of doctors?
LOL. Did you tell your doctor so he could record it? - NM

Check with your doctor...
It could be a sign of high blood pressure or heart trouble - probably not but best be on the safe side!
Please check As the Doctor about Lipitor

I would not do it. Go with a free FTP site for use by you and the doctor's office access only.
All you need to do is create files or folders, for example by date, upload them to the FTP site, and the doc's office can in turn download them directly to their computer. This uses a secure password on both parties' end, and is much securer than emailing.
Have you tried the AMA Doctor Find site? Link inside.
http://webapps.ama-assn.org/doctorfinder/home.html
Anone else lost without the AMA doctor finder site?

First, the AAMTOnline site disappears, and now the AMA site is gone.  Does anyone know of another doc finder site where you can search for "sounds like" names?  I know about the WebMD and 411 sites, but I find these very limiting if you don't know the exact spelling of a name.

Please, please double check with your doctor before taking

Did you check the web site? I think the CEO won.

Just kidding.

PS:  It's not like MQ would be dishonest or anything.

Someone there may be able to help you. Other than copying the macros from WP document into Word document and then creating the macro again, I can not think of a way to do it, though there probably is a way.

Unless you want to work on site, that is. If so, check Manpower and the newspapers for starters. nm

We have not much to fear from overseas, in my opinion, compared to the technology being created every day to reach the goal of the 'standardized text' paperless record (EHR - electronic health record).

No more 'free text' or dictation in the future.

Same for billing/coding, which will be done automatically with mobile point-of-care hand-held PCs.

Certainly, there will still be editors, but I can not get any solid information as to how this technology will affect MTs. Will be still be needed, if so, in what capacity.

I keep hearing we should be open to being trained in the new technologies that are coming, but hey, what ARE they, and who will train us?

The only thing AAMT seems to be suggesting/promoting, is (what will make them a lot of money) for certifying MTs...what good is that going to do us?

I would gladly train and learn new technology so I can 'stay in the game,' but how, what, where, who pays, when? What will it be, what do I have to do?

I have E'd several people, including Ms. Tessier herself, and have not gotten any kind of response, period.

Heck with being certified, tell me how I can keep my job for the next decade before I can retire and MT as we know it is extinct!

My apologies up-front for any typos - I am not 'on the clock' so-to-speak...thanks.
Forward it to spoof@paypal.com, also check your acct directly through their web site...
just don't click on a link in the emai. The hackers are getting better all the time.
credentials
There is a website called www.healthgrades.com that gives the info. You do have to pay for the report though.
M.D. credentials

B and E and have never had a recruiter ask for CMT credentials ever! nm
n
...and besides, who needs their stupid credentials?
All I did was line AAMT's coffers.  I no longer belong to AAMT nor do I keep up my CMT credential.  Has not hurt one bit professionally.  Please point out something positive that AAMT has accomplished for our profession.  All CMT does is provide AAMT with more money for their dog and pony show.  AAMT?  No thanks!  We need someone who REALLY represents the day-to-day MT, not a select few.
CMT credentials and AAMT
The post below about AAMT certifying offshore MTs made me wonder. Do you think an offshore CMT is just as good as an American CMT? I ask because I am quite certain most doctors would think so. I remember hearing once about an Indian MT that took the test over 6 times before passing. They just kept giving him money to take it until he passed. Doctors may not know or care what CMT means as far as we are concerned, but if an Indian company telemarkets your doctor with a too-good-to-be-true offer, and oh by the way, did we mention we were certified by the AMERICAN Medical Transcription Association? All of a sudden your doctor and my doctor and all doctors will care what CMT means, and to them it will mean, same quality - but cheap.

So, the CMT definitely benefits someone, though if the transcription service doesn't live up to the doctor's normal quality standards, what does that tell him about the CMT or the AAMT in general?

Am I ranting or rambling? You decide. :)
What do the credentials FAAMT stand for? TIA
x
Why would you want to spend $298 on credentials that don't matter anyway?

For a penny more a line?

Either way you were wasting your money.  The thing is, you probably failed by one point on something totally irrelevant question having to do with one of the ever-changing BOS rules.

In my opinion, experience wins over passing some lame certification exam concocted by an organization of fat cats looking for more ways to line their pockets with our money.

Don't be too disappointed that you failed.  Be disappointed that you bought into the AAMT hype.

Those credentials for teachers in public school are NOT the norm...
At my daughter's school when she was in 3rd grade she showed me her final spelling test.  The list contained the words:  You, me, and two, among other similar ones.  My daughter was in the gifted program, and those were her final spelling words in preparation for 4th grade!!  We do NOT have public school teachers with PhD degrees in anything.  They're lucky they have a Bachelor's.  I have a Bachelor's and consider myself quite capable of teaching.  Believe me - all schools are NOT created equal.
lie detector tests too huh busy. just to see if everyone tells the truth about credentials and goal

I think they should check your medical and psychiatriac records too and see what type of medications you may be prescribed.  Maybe they could interview your neighbors and family to see if you have a history or lying or fabricating, delusions of grandeur, bipolar or just plain character flaws.  I have noted that on these boards sometimes people tend to fabricate.  hahaha. bwaaaaaaahaaaaaaa

Check it all out before you can get a job working at home.  I mean the pay is worth it to go through all the hoops and if you are exposed as a deviant too bad. No sense it taking ridiculous risks for .8 cents per line doiing medical transcription when you can ship it to India for way cheaper to all those good souls who don't have any vices.

Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.

It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.

We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.

It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!
For the record,
the solo-practices and smaller offices are outsourcing to the hospitals...

can anyone set the record for

My record is around 45.  Right now i'm on a report that is up to about 23.  Talk about toxic!

re-record
If re-recording to digital, pretty easy. Play either in handheld or transcriber, and use either computer or digital handheld to capture. Just need the connecting cord between two units - can get at Radio Shack.
if it was in my medical record?

It would depend upon whether or not it could have a negative impact upon my medical care. If the doctor dictated something like, "The patient has diabetes" (when I don't), yeah, I would ask them to correct the record. But for something like what was stated originally ... heck no. Let it stay.

But that's me ... I don't have OCD and I'm not anal retentive about this business like others. Never have been and never will be.

I still think you need to lighten up. There's a lot more to worry about in life than something like that.

expunging record
Just a thought -- a friend had a felony from years ago expunged from her record -- but background checks from then on noted the expungement on her record -- which raised red flags in itself.
another broken record...
me too. It absolutely befuddles me that anyone would be trying to get INTO this field, especially with all the ominous signs that are right out there for anyone to see. I think new moms with babes are just blinded by the idea of "working at home" and can't see the competition they are facing.  Me, I am in nursing school... not an easy job by any means...but I'll be good at it and will find my niche quickly and will always have a job! My biggest account is making noise about getting a VR system. If I wasn't in nursing school, I would be having a panic attack instead!
How did he get his record cleared?
You mentioned that he has a "clean record." I still have this thing on from 11 years ago. Did he have to do something in particular to clean his record or did it just drop off?
We all make dumb mistakes at some time in our lives, eh? LOL
Med Record Retention
That's a very broad question. It's my understanding that the answer depends on the State and the age of the patient at the time of service. Liability required juvenile records be kept forever since it used to be a base could be brought when the injury was first noticed, and that could be well into the adult years.
You have to record to the computer
Get a program like GoldWave (I think goldwave.com). You can buy a plug that goes one end in the transcriber and the other in the computer. One end goes in the transcriber earpiece plug and the other goes in the computer microphone plug.

Then play the transcriber while using Goldwave (or whatever) to record from the microphone input. It creates a WAV file or whatever you specify.
That particular patient's record
is still confidential information, thus protected. Who knows, there may be contributing factors about that other patient and that is why the name was mentioned. Either way, if it was dictated to be transcribed and fits with the account specs, it is to be transcribed. I've worked for companies that did and did not allow patient and other names in their records, sometimes it just depends on what the client wants.

These 2 companies were just awarded all of VISN 7. Not sure exactly where the split is. Look on VA website for hospitals make up VISN 7.
Why don't you set the record straight Ms. AAMT?
Why are you sooooooo defensive?
Setting the record straight

You purchased an IN-155 foot pedal for compatiblility with DVI VoiceWav.  (We have sold nearly 1,000 of these with zero returns.)

When you called our toll free 800 number for support we told you that the problem was not the pedal and was either the software you were using or your computer.  Reluctantly, we agreed to do an exchange for you.  (FYI, when your first pedal came back to us it worked absolutely perfectly and still does.  In fact it is plugged into the same computer I am typing on at this moment.  It has been tested daily since it came back with no problems).

Now, you voice incorrect information on MTStars.  Your problem is in your computer.

Please feel free to call us yet again if this is not clear to you.

It is about CLARITY in the medical record.
It makes the medical record easier to read, which means more accurate patient care
Try expunging the felony record. sm
My friend's daughter did this after being turned down for a job at Target. She was an adult. You will need some legal assistance to do it.
