Can I use AT&T unlimited home long distance with a c-phone?
Hi all! I was wondering if anyone here using a C-phone uses AT&T home unlimited long distance? If so, do you have any problems with them? Thanks for any help you can give!

If you use LecStar as your home/business phone service read this....sm
They had a judge sign a Chapter 7 bankruptcy order on 10/2 and have begun cutting off phone service to residental and business customers. I found out about this when I attempted to make a long distance call today (I had the unlimited long distance home phone plan) and got notification that I had no long distance service available. Upon calling them the representative told me that they're working on cutting phone service to everyone and at any time I could lose service. I've called the "mega" phone service for my area, BellSouth, and signed up to switch hopefully before the line is disconnected by LecStar.
Interestingly I had signed up for their service through a cooperation they had with my power company. The power company just found out yesterday about the bankruptcy and services starting to be cut off and is in the process now of calling every power company customer who had phone service with LecStar and telling them what is happening so that hopefully no one else will be caught off guard with a disconnected phone service.
deduct everything you can think of, electricity, phone, home office if you chose to, supplies, inter
you get the picture. I don't do the home office deduction though because we keep saying we are going to build on a lot we have and things get screwed up with taxes due to this, something with depreciation, not really sure, know someone who had this problem though, owed a lot back. When we do move, then I will take it since I know it won't be an issue then. I write off about $2-$3K a year which helps some. Was paying quartly but have not done it in 2 years as I usually don't owe more than $1200 and my husband has extra taken out of his pay, so that has always, so far, taken care of any taxes I have "owed". -- Check out the IRS website they have plenty of info on the subject.
C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm

I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big
difference. Also, have you tried a different headset? Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone. It's a tiny hole. If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well. As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year. Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology. So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.
I know very little about Lanier equipment. I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone. Is there a local appliance repair place in your area? You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think. Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.
Not much help, I know. But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.
I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as
xx
I think you can dial into most systems that require C-phone without having a C-phone nm

I am wondering if there is a way to use your C-phone with Vonage phone service?
??
May have to change phone companies, have switched to job using a C-phone. sm
Currently have Embarq (formerly Sprint), and my usage will be going up about 12,000 minutes a month. What phone companies offer really unlimited for a flat rate? TIA.
C-phone and ATT. There is no problem with the C-phone, but ATT wouldn't let me use unlimited.

I have cable phone access and my C-phone works - sm
I am not sure about you problem, because it sounds just like I have mine hooked up. The only thing I can think of is that mine has 2 line hookups in the back of the phone. If you have this too, I would just try the other one, which you probably have already done. Sorry that was not much help. I wish you luck
I have a very loud hum when using my C-phone, but no hum when I'm using the regular phone. SM
Anyone else experience this problem with their C-phone? Is there a problem with my C-phone? At first I thought it was my telelphone line and called the phone company. They sent a technician out to replace the lines and check the house, but the hum is still there on the C-phone.
It's driving me batty!
C-phone info regarding phone lines etc.
I am completely clueless on the subject of a C-phone. Can someone help me understand exactly how this works? Do you have to specifically have a separate "dial up internet" service to use the C-phone? I currently have cable internet and am wondering if there is anything else I need to get. I guess I should contact my phone company. At any rate, any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
If you use a C-phone for work and have a digital phone
through cable, have you tried to take an incoming call?
We only have one phone line. I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones. I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone. I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report.
I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie.
Anyone use/try C-phone with Medicom's phone service?
Wondering if it works?
My kids have suffered greatly from me working at home with them home. SM
I have been working at home as an MT since my two kids were born. They are now 4 and 5. In the first few years, I had no help whatsoever. Their father was a bum who didnt work or take care of them while I worked. Your children get neglected while you work basically. And babies and young children desperately need your attention while they are home with you.
My kids have so many behavioral problems right now because of their neglect. I would try to set them up with things to occupy themselves, like coloring or a movie, etc.
I finally put them in day care and things have improved, but there are still a lot of issues because of the damage that was done. They still try to seek attention by doing bad things and they dont listen to me because they are so used to me letting them get away with a lot of stuff because I was too busy typing to discipline them in their early years.
If I could do it all over again, I would definitely have put them into day care from the very beginning.
My advice would be to seek PT care for your baby. Maybe you can do some work around her schedule a little when she is home, like when she takes a nap, and then bang out a bunch of work while she is in day care.
I enjoy being alone at home, but I've got one home sick from school already.
One on one with a kid is nice, too.
This summer has been absolutely crazy. I haven't had a moment to myself for three months because all of my kids were home traipsing their friends through the house and yard. My husband switched his work schedule, too, so he's around more than usual. However, I like not having to do two loads of dishes and four loads of laundry a day. There are no toys or clutter dragged out everywhere. I can clean the house first thing in the morning, and it stays clean until everyone gets home at night.
I even got to relax with a cup of coffee and watch TV for half an hour this morning, something I liked for a change instead of cartoons or kids' movies. I signed up for an online class that I've been wanting to take. I can exercise without being interrupted. Yesterday, I went to the mall and spent all my saved up gift cards. I got some clothes, books, bath stuff, and a new coffee mug. My work gets done a lot faster, too. Call me nuts, but I've never had the luxury of being alone in the house for 14 years. It's kinda nice. I love my family with all my heart, but I love having a few hours to myself each week, too.
Except now the cat and dogs have been acting weird since the kids went back to school. They must think that I need someone or something to clean up after and correct behavior on. They're getting into everything and racing around the house behind me.
my take is that she worked inhouse, not at home, and now wants to find out how to work at home. nm

Forget "per line." Your take-home pay should be taking home SM
roughly what it was before. If it is not, is it because your current pay rate for editing (which in many companies keeps changing as the VR system is developed) is too low or is it because your talents and skills are more for speed typing than speed editing?
If the first, discuss it with higherups, and go get a new job if you don't get the response you need. My last MTSO was secretly refiguring how production was counted to pay us less. I can accept hard reality, it was the secrecy that burned. Sometimes, though, it's just that the learning curves of individual editors and that of the system aren't in sync, and you end up temporarily making less.
If the second, though, recognize it as soon as possible and change to straight transcription work, in your company or a new one, for as long as you can find it.
As for why we aren't paid more for a higher skill, that's just the way the labor supply ball bounces. Best wishes.
I think she means she has wireless TO her home, not IN her home..nm

hospital at-home -vs- national at home
I have an interview today with a hospital...work in-house for 3 months, then go home, paid on production. I don't know as of yet what they pay production, so my question is to anyone who works for a hospital at home AND has also worked for a national at home...
Which would be the best to choose? The hospital offers great benefits, but the national I work for now also has benefits, not as good as the hospital, though. Any input would be most appreciated!
C-phone and phone line
I have cable for my Internet so I have my C-phone on my regular home phone line and forward my home phone number to my cell phone.
A c-phone is just a phone, with headphones sm
and a foot pedal. You call into a number (hopefully 800 number), put in your codes, and a voice file comes on. You use the headphones and the foot pedal, and transcribe on your computer into a word processing program, then send the finished file back per their directions.
The c-phone is not connected to the internet in any way. There is no downloading involved. It is just a phone by means of which you get your voice files. It needs a phone line and you stay on the line the entire time.
c-phone from cell phone
I believe if you check with your cell phone carrier they have an adapter that you can use to plug into your cell phone from the c-phone. Not sure about this but I think I had a friend tell me she had to do this but it was a year or so ago. Hope this helps.
It connects via phone like, just like a C-phone.
I have an old actual C-phone phone if that is what you mean, (sm)
not the newer kind that connects to a computer. I don't know if yours is programmed the same, but mine shows 8 to decrease and 9 to increase. Hope this helps.
C-phone and phone plans....
I have a company that I have recently hired on with that uses c-phones. At home I have an unlimited long distance plan, but I'm wondering if while traveling there is a plan that you can get in order to use a c-phone in a motel, relative's homes, etc. I like to be able to still work while traveling and I feel this is going to limit me. Any suggestions or ideas?
Digital phone/C-phone
Does anyone use a C-phone with digital phone service? Does this work out okay?
Ditto for me. Have done both outside the home and in the home. We all have
bad days, but I sure would not want to trade working at home for anything. Just being here for my kids is worth every bad day!
You can get a used C-phone for probably
$150.00 on E-bay, new about $800.00. The re-record equipment is about $15.00 at Radio Shack, but re-recording takes a lot of time and the sound quality is diminished, so figure that into your line count.
C-Phone
Hi Jo,
I have a Dictaphone C-phone that is just sitting here and has barely been used. Will sell for $100.
C-phone
Thank you very much. I am currently looking into a position which requires a C-phone but have not actually tested and accepted a position yet. Please let me know your email address and if I decide to work for this particular company, I would like to purchase the C-phone from you.

Thank you very much
for your help.
C-phone
Hi Jo,
email is lanajack@suscomme.net
I have another lady interested in this C-phone too and have told her I was waiting to hear from you by the end of the week.

What is a c-phone, how does it work?
I just got off the phone with them
and they said they have been cracking down because they have had too much pirating. I could purchase a license again at a nominal discount...I think it works out to be about 30% but it sounded like they would make no exceptions.
Would it work burning it to another disk? I don't think it will as you still need your serial number to register...
c-phone
As you can maybe tell, I have no idea how a c-phone works, but I do have a job op where I would need one. I already have a phone line and a dedicated dialup line, so I should be good to go, then. Thanks for your reply
They said I would need to get a C-phone.
I'll have to really give this one some thought. Thanks for your help.
I am on the phone with them right now...thanks..will let you know how it goes...
c phone
Happened to me also, i took it apart and 2 screws had fell out, once i replaced them it was as good as new!
Usually using a C-phone you do have better
sound quality because you are getting first-hand dictation. When using wav files they are usually bled off another system and you do tend to lose some sound quality, though it most cases is not significant if the original dictation is of good quality.
Sound quality can also be affected by sound card or computer settings. I used a C-phone for years and now have been using wav files for about 8 years. There was a period of adjustment while I had to retrain my ears, the same way I did when I started doing 95% ESL. Since most decent-sized MT companies hire from all over the U.S. I'm surprised there are still so many using C-phones, though many companies do not pay the cost of long-distance or a second phone line so it is cheaper for them not to have to upgrade their equipment to convert.
I have gotten used to wav files now and don't think I could go back to using a C-phone. I have a laptop and I like to sit outside when it is nice, so I can download my files and just carry my laptop and foot pedal outside and work away or I can get up in the middle of a report to take a shower, fix dinner, or whatever.
Need a C-phone
Looking for a used Dictaphone or comparable. Hopefully, a complete set.
C-phone
Hi:
I have a couple complete C-phones that I have used in the past. What are you wanting to spend?
Help with C-phone
Bought a Dictaphone C-phone online and when I got it, none of the buttons at the top (the two rows that run up and down) are marked, so therefore I can't find the headset button to turn it on. Does this have to be programmed to make one and if so, how do you do that?
on my phone
the "2" button slows dictation down and "3" will speed it back up.
c-phone
Missy Lee... I have a c-phone that I only used for about a year. I paid about 700 for it, but I just don't need it anymore. I don't know how to arrange this, but you can have it for 200 if you want it. E-mail me if you are interested. I have the foot pedal, but no headphones.

Hi Valerie,
You should use Vonage, it's great. Unlimited calling throughout US and Canada. Call waiting, ID, 3-way, vm. My total bill is 27.00 a month. Why waste money?
DA-127 D phone
I have one with no instructions. I can get dialtone on the regular phone reciever but when I try to use the headset or switch to speaker I get nothing...the light is still on for dialtone. If I keep the receiver down and use the Transcribe button (which I believe should give me dial tone on the headset or speaker, I hear no dialtone but the light comes on like there is dialtone.
Any suggestions to try?
