QA scores vs limits vs less money for MTs and QA

In new QA plan, if MQ pays on your QA score and limits the amount of reports you can send to QA (was it 15%?) doesn't that essentially cut down on QA personnel and while looking for an excuse to pay you less and it is contingent on QA and percentage of reports sent to QA, MQ wins again in its master plan to pay MTs less and eliminate jobs.
Then think about this. If you must proofread every report to get required QA and must relisten and reread difficult reports because you have limits as to what you send to QA, how much of a pay cut is that for MTs?
MQ SUCKS!

determine our place in life. It's not the cards you are dealt but the way that you play them that counts. AND BTW just remember that half of the docs (and lawyers, etc) out there graduated in the bottom half of their class. Something to think about.
limits in AutoCorrect
The limits are determined by the amount of memory in your system. The more memory you have, the less like you are to reach a limit in the # of entries.
If within city limits, you will.
I at one time ran an ad in Yellow pages with my last name and then "Typing Service" as I was trying to get students and those needing resumes. The city called me and told me I needed a business license. It is a small percentage of the gross annual income. Then, you can display it. They also want to know if there is incoming and outgoing people, whether I would be selling a product or if it was a service and whether it will be in your home and if so, would there be traffic coming and going. I did not contact my insurance company but probably should have...(I had very little business lol).

Question about time limits
Do doctors have a certain time they have to have office notes on a patient's chart? I know for H&Ps and ER notes, at least in Georgia (maybe nationally) that they have to be on the chart within 24 hours.
I ask because I've been typing a doctor all morning who is dictating office notes from January! How can he even remember what was said or done that far back? I can't remember people I talked to last week!
Yes its true. They seem to be setting impossible limits for everyone lately and you have to wonder
if they just want people to quit.

MT IQ scores
Wow. I caught this while looking for something else. The impression I get is that the poster who talks about pathological liars is insecure and probably does have a low IQ score. My husband is at genius level, 179. I'm only 136. What matters is we know our terminology, grammar, sentence structure and how to use a computer and dictation equipment. :-)

Otherwise, she'd wonder how she was doing instead of speaking the truth.
I too have high QA scores but the QA
percentage is killing me (over 30%). When work is low I am reluctant to take on another acct because once again all would go to QA and affect that percentage. I have decided to just type and not worry about my QA percentage for now, just continue to type and send quality work (of course when there is work).

SAT scores aren't everything.
In my other job, I work with colleagues who are current and past admissions officers for several prestigious universities. They have told me time and time again that although SAT scores are considered when reviewing an applicant, they are far from the most important determinant of acceptance or denial.
Yes, it's unfair that someone can manipulate the testing system, but no one gets in to college based on SAT scores alone. You've got to have the grades, recommedations, achievements, etc., to back it up.
That was the old advice before FICO scores came out.
The new advice is to leave some of them open. You want to show that you have credit available to you, but that it's unused. Having just a few maxed out accounts or having no credit cards is bad now.
Genius IQ scores are not the issue!
I know, and apparently you do as well; life and the decisions we make are what makes us what we are, not our IQ score! There are lower scoring IQ docs and lawyers out there that worked their tails off to be what they are. IQ scores didn't do it for them. My problem is not with the IQ score, it is with the PERSON having a genius IQ score who thinks they are "something" because of a number.
My company minimum is 98.5, my scores are
consistently 99.9. My company doesn't count off for punctuation, although they will make corrections to it. I get daily feedback. I get my corrected reports and I also get access to the audio. The last day of the month we get a report that shows us lots of information and also gives us our QA score. If you drop below the minimum you are given a warning and given 2 weeks to do better. If you do better they will work with you, if you don't do better you get axed.
My work is good, but not perfect. When we get corrected reports there are many categories in which they take off points. Rarely do I have a critical error, but I frequently have minor errors, some just careless, some because account specifics changed and I didn't preview them before starting work and unaware of updates - all that said I still make 99.9, so I would think I would have to make lots of errors or serious errors to get even 98.5 with my company. If you're only making 97% and you are getting regular feedback make a list of errors and keep them where you can see them regularly. If you are consistently misspelling a word or not capping, etc. put it in your expander. You should also do a 100% review with the audio for at least a few days so you can see where you are making mistakes and they will become habit to check for, or when you make errors automatically correct them at the time.
If your errors are because you don't know terminology get a notebook and write down things alphabetically. If you are pretty much using the net for all you reference sources be sure you have some good websites as there is a lot of misinformation out there.
When a friend asks how you are today you reply "Oh, I'm feeling within normal limits."

I would think that our QA scores honestly reflect the quality of our work
and are not infuenced in any way by how we interpret the status you may or may not hold. Hopefully, you are not basing QA statistics on whether or not you like a certain MT's attitude about you.
Our school has good scores but my kids have never been stressed
Probably depends on the teachers and the corporate culture at your school.
Why not mention the other side? That MQ payes BONUSES FOR GOOD QA scores!

RUN, do not walk away! I do an entirely different side business now that I really love (in addition to my MTing, which I also love!) Find something you're good at and that you truly love doing. Then make a business out of it. That's the best way to have a side business. Selling discount toilet paper through Amway/Quixtar? Not so much.
The CMT exam is overrated. Don't waste your time & money. Use that money on
paid anymore just because you have it. There are a few CMT cheerleaders that post to people like you but they are pretty well sucked up into that association.

I am going to continue with it and my dog will continue to be pampered , educated, fed, kept warm, and love me for everything that I do for him even when I remind him that his barking needs to stop. if you do bring it to the attn of the office manager, why not offer her a raise to compensate. it is obvious she just needs or wants more money than your office is paying her. I agree, it is a free country and although it seems odd, unless you had it outlined in contract, she can work for whomever or whereever she pleases on the side. at least she is typing and not at a strip joint, lol. I see no conflict of interest, she has experience obviously in whichever field you are in and what is wrong with doing extra in that field. i agree with MYOB "nicely" and concentrate on your reports than looking at older reports and seeing who they are typed by.
No need to wonder..It always means less money for the MT and more money for MQ.

Here's how to get your money....sm
Do an internet search for the small claims court that she would need to report to. Typically this would be either the city or county her business is in or she lives in if she doesn't have an official business name.
File the claim and in the claim be sure to include that you're seeking the costs of travel to court if she fails to pay up ahead of time, as well as the time off from your current job. You can even give rough estimates for the plane fare, hotel, rental car and time off from work.
Generally speaking most small claims court cases are heard within 30-60 days. All you'll need is to take the judge proof of the work you did, money she owes and that she flat out refuses to pay.
Once you win the case (and you will if you can prove you did the work and she agreed to pay you) then immediately file a lien against her home or business - that will quickly get her attention that she needs to pay you, because if she doesn't pay up quickly then she risks losing her home or business to you. You can do all of this without collection attorneys or any attorney - this type of thing is generally handled by individuals since the dollar amount isn't high enough for an attorney to be interested.
I had one friend who recently won a small claims court case against a car dealership over a faulty engine that was sold to him and the owner refused to pay him until he placed the lien against the business.... and of course the owner realized he wasn't playing games any longer and had the cash ready that afternoon (I told my friend to place the lien and insist on cash only, no cashier's checks, no checks, etc - cold hard cash!).

Here's how to get your money....sm
Send her a certified/return receipt letter giving her 7 business days to get the money to you via a cashier's check or you will file a claim against her in small claims court. You don't need an attorney to do this - just contact the city or county courthouse in the town/county the business is located and file a complaint. Be sure to ask that the filing fees as well as time off from work and travel expenses to be reimbursed if you have to show up to small claims court. Most of these cases are heard in 30-60 days. My husband and I both had very low scores, but the mortgage company searched and got us a 6% interest rate on the house we wanted, no money down, and we even got money at close. There are ways. A good mortgage company will work for you! Our scores were less than 600.

  a lot of the things she seems to take credit for are donated by the manufacturers or come out of her "Angel Network". I quit watching her after she made such a spectacle of herself after Katrina. Her and Tom Cruise are on my boycott list.

It is often less because many places want to pay by the report - piddling $1.00-$1.24. Wait til you see the CTs and MRIs and interventional reports - 30/40/50 lines. Per line is the only way to go with this. I would imagine it would not be difficult to learn tho, just a lot of detailed structural anatomy.
