QA discrepancy... told 2 different things by 2 different people. How would you handle this?

You need to know how to handle these people. sm
They will try to get you to work like a dog, your fingers to the bone. You just tell him no. I will work x number of hours a day and that is it. That is what I did and it worked out fine. They will try to push you to work 24 x 7 if they can. That is the way they are (men from India). Just hold firm and they will accept it. You need to be "thick-skinned" I think to be able to work with them.
WHATEVER. I can't handle ignorant people, which means this conversation is over.

these companies do? I'm really curious because I've been experiencing some really strange things going on lately, like jobs suddenly disappearing when almost completed, no work when others on my account have work, etc.

Teasers in school. They just do it because they have no life, no self-esteem and they just try and feed off the misery of others or try to make themselves look better than everyone else.

I have a low flow shower head and a water conserving toilet. You don't even need to shower or wash your hair daily. Nobody gets that dirty. Take a sponge bath every other day. I had my house weatherized and analyzed for energy efficiency to be sure I wasn't wasting gas or electricity. Then I updated the windows, insulated the house, and installed a new energy efficient furnace. Then there's the on-demand water heaters instead of the ones that run all the time. I have no magazine or newspaper subscriptions because you can find everything you want to read online. I resell, reuse, or donate everything I can. I recycle aluminum, glass, paper, plastic, tin, and any lumber or metal scraps. I avoid styrofoam and CFCs. I work at home so I don't have to commute. I have an electric scooter and a bicycle so I don't have to drive. I have my own organic garden and compost bin. I freeze or can my homegrown fruits and vegetables, then reuse the jars the next year. This reduces the need for tin cans and for semi trucks to transport the cans to my grocery store, too. I even divert rainwater for watering purposes instead of running a hose. Everybody I know of does all of those things and more. We're not treehuggers preaching to everyone else about how we're holier than thou either.
Star is a glutton for attention and told PEOPLE
That Tuesday that Star made her announcement....she had ALREADY gone to People Magazine PRIOR to the Tuesday show.......and spewed to them first - thereby sabotaging ABC's/Barbara Walter/Star Jones' already agreed upon announcement for that Thursday.
Star did this with the intention of *if I'm going down, I'm taking all of them down with me* and as a result, the View has lost viewership and probably will never come back as the once-good show it used to be. Star definitely did this with an ulterior motive and then tried to act like the VICTIM. Many saw right through this! How is someone going to STAB their *mentor* in the back like she just did?
Remember Joan Rivers? She did something similar to her *mentor* Johnny Carson and he never forgot it.!!!
Hopefully, Star Jones will become blackballed from Hollywood, albeit next week she is hosting at 10 pm House Hunters on HGTV.
I'm more annoyed to read that she is married to a Muslim *who hates Jews* - I did read that online in one of many articles. And then to listen to Star push Xtianity on The View seemingly contradicts her line about *it's very important that both married people have the same beliefs and religion* - is that an open admission that Star is now a *Muslim who hates Jews*? *curious* and not a religious discussion. Merely a discussion on Star's credibility which, to me, is NIL at this point.

Most of what she says is true. It's been far more documented as fact and the truth than the information the administration has given and still gives.
As far as soldiers.....read optruth.org. There are many soldiers who do not agree with this war or how this administration has handled it and they need to be listened to.

I love the way everyone things VR people are the slow ones
I type about 140 wpm and averaged on straight typing over 2000 lines per day. The hospital was outsourced and VR took over. I love VR and why do you assume that only slow typists like? I love it, our system is not crap and now I average above 500 or more lines per hour. Don’t know where people get off talking about the slow ones. You are assuming.

If, and this is huge speculation...If he was on drugs before or then, then an MI is definitely possible and not unusual at this age.

What I think is so sad is that people may give up good jobs to go there to find out these things all
to late. The newbies can learn and use MQ and move on which they do but of course the clients suffer then with all the people learning on them but this is what MQ causes and when they lose clients with poor quality or people that just throw out work then they caused their own problems. You cant keep good MTs with no work I dont care what incentives you offer because they mean nothing with no work ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I wish people would understand that when MQ hires them.

MQ discrepancy...
Has anyone ever noticed that on "the other" very popular MT site (don't think I can give the name but most know of it) almost ALL the MT's are very positive about MedQuist, while on this site it is completely the opposite? I sometimes feel schizophrenic after visiting both sites - any ideas why this is? It just seems so strange to me...
Would you consider this a discrepancy?

Every company I have worked for, each separate QA person seems to have her own rules, even if there is a company standard. You QA people need to confer with one another and get your rules straight. It is really annoying for the MTs trying to do the lines that make the money for your companies. Companies would not get very far if all they had were QA people who disagreed.
Is there some way to emphasize the HIPAA discrepancy? sm
I mean, why do we have to be HIPAA compliant when off shore isn't? Shouldn't we demand the same standards? Maybe this will put pressure on HIPAA proponents to look at the off-shore system.
Be sure to note that off-shore MTs are being certified at a lower level than on shore, so (former) AAMT can't continue sponsoring certification inequalities.

content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.
As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.

They also wanted his social security number....N/A There is no reason in the world they should need his social security number and I asked about this.. They said it was for when he signed up for college loans etc. I told them he's not in college yet and I would not be furnishing that information to anyone.
In a post below someone said something about ppl being over paranoid these days....I had my identity stolen a few years back. It nearly destroyed my credit, wiped out my bank accounts, and took me literally years to clean up. In this day and age you can never be too careful with privacy. You just cannot be sure what anyone is doing with your private information. Better safe than sorry.

My DBF can't even handle the 2 hours
that he watches them every evening. They drive him nuts. He doesn't help with the cleaning, cooking, laundry, and like I said-those 2 hours from 8pm to 10pm, I don't really get much done cause they are in the next room screaming-him included. It's not fun. He does his best with them....when he takes them places in the evening, but of course, this can't happen every night. (I'm ready to bail in the relationship anyway) Just be so thankful to those of you who have "adult" spouses, he's like a big kid, leaves clothes all over, etc, doesn't know where the garbage can is. He is still in the dark ages I'm afraid when it comes to "women in the house, barefoot and pregnant" attitude. He's only 39. Blames it on the way he was raised. K. It's 2005, get with the program. May I ask, what is the lowest to the highest rate of pay. What pay rate formula is used, for example, by the line, by the minute, by the word, by the gross word. Are spaces paid, ALL spaces.
some in their ads say "we pay for ALL spaces" so I guess some companies pay a percentage.
For instance Medquist does not pay for the demographic screen, the CC notation or the headings. and prob more that is not known. .
You need to know how to convert this to an hourly rate so you know how much you actually are making.
Below is a quote from a company in Texas TSI and I sat down with the calculator and figured some of the hourly rates. For the most part, way too many lines for most MTs

This is $90. for 8 hours $11.25 hr and 150 lines an hour about almost 4.5 pages/hr. This is a lot of pages/hr.
1400-1599 average lines per day = 8 cents
This is 1400 X 8 = $112 per 8 hr.
8 divide into $112=$14/hr
1400 lines divide 8= 175 lines/hr
Figure 34 lines/page+ 5.41 pages an hour.
No way I could do this. I would not work for 6,7,8,9- no less than 10 and this is not really great. You cannot predict what you will end up with. You could be on target and lose it all, wham. .
1600-1799 average lines per day = 8.5 cents
1800 or greater average lines per day = 9 cents So then this would be:
225 lines per hour, about 6.61 pages
112 lines 30 minutes, 3 1/2 pages
56.2 lines 15 minutes 1.65 pages
nearly 4 lines per minute
Well over one million keystrokes/8hr

Here's how I'd handle the situation...
First off I'd tell my mom that he's a pig and what he has done.
Secondly I'd never be around him without a recording device turned on in my pocket so that way you can record his comments, and if he touches you or flirts then get a recording of your asking him to not touch or look at you that way and his response. Then play the recording for your mom and other relatives.
While it may be true your mother may go into denial you need to stand up for yourself. My mom was a fool and protected my father when she was told about his untoward advances towards women for years.... and then something happened that made her realize that she had been a fool for years and that he was the one with the problem.
