No, we do not set up specific company boards. Posters are allowed to post discussion about MQ here
or on the Company board, just as any other company can.
Discussion boards!! (can't resist, lol)
and other distracting Internet surfing, neglected art projects on the desk behind me, sunny outside, new powder on ski hill, new German Shepherd pup....
There are several forums to post on at the Religion link.
I wouldn't call it "fragmented". The poster can ask his/her question on more than one religion board and receive a variety of responses in which to make an informed decision.
I would like to post on these boards. Can anyone help?
I am totally confused as to what section of the religion board to post on. There is nothing for general Christianity or perhaps Quaker pursuasion, etc.
I also have no idea what I am, liberal or conservative or what. I liked it better when you could have a real discussion. We exchanged ideas. I know sometimes they got out of hand, but I don't like any of these boards now. They are just plain too confusing now.
I think it's because most of the ones who post to the message boards
.
You need to post your resume on the job boards. nm
Post your resume on all the various job boards and keep checking the
help wanted ads. There are companies who will hire from posted resumes that don't post jobs. Of course you can be more productive with just one speciality, but it is also extremely boring. If you are happy with your current company and they have other specialities ask them if you can do something else.
Doctors sometimes will post on the state boards, though
usually they don't post, but ask other doctors who they use. If they do post it would most likely be in your local classified ads.
It's ok to post most topics here now except for the few boards to the left. Cool, huh?
I've had that cappucino, too, and it's great!
Why am I getting asked for email confirmation to post on some boards but not all of them? nm

Night Owl - Yours is the most worthwhile post I have ever read on these boards
When working from home, whether dealing with clients, MT management, or QA personnel, you can just feel the negative vibes coming off of people over so little. It causes a very stressful environment. Maybe that is where some of the MTs on here develop that attitude, I don't know. The awful insults, comments, and degrading people on here is absolutely unbelievable. Just because you have 15, 20, 30 years of experience in this field, that is no excuse for rudeness. Once you have insulted someone to the point I have seen here, your MT experience means nothing to me, and if I were a management person and knew this about you, you would not work for my company no matter how perfect your MT skills are. This says a great deal about you. Perhaps people in general will write things they would never say to a person face to face. I happen to be a very mature, very experienced MT. I feel like my knowledge should be used to help someone, not degrade them. I hope the MTs who have posted above on this comment will continue to call these people out when they post these horrible comments. Even if you are right (which seems to be the most important thing in the world to them), there is a way of stating facts, opinions, and comments that you have yet to learn in dealing with people even if it is not face to face.
Well from what I read on the boards "Busy MTing" can afford to post but you need to sm
go look in the mirror and ask yourself why are you so miserable?
There is NOTHING to post! The boards were trolled for a long time by the lawyers AGAINST MQ, looking
for any lame info in a very unprofessional (not to mention unethical) manner. They used us and left. Now the law suits are in the "discovery process", where both sides are gathering info, where they can then decide whether to proceed forward or not. No news at all for us MTs. Again, the $$-hungry lawyer(s)? were all over this board months back, stirring up the pot, begging us for info, and then VANISHED!
Signed! You should post this on all boards, including Medquist, where I'm sure a lot would sign

how about your spiritual connection?

Maybe something spiritual or a powerful show tune? nm

Anyone ever had a ghostly/spiritual experience? Was watching CNN last night.
I was watching Larry King last night and something came up about being "frozen" a couple minutes after awakening. That has happened to me a few times and I have read Sylvia Browne's books and she explains it as something like a noise waking us up too quickly before our spirits come back after astral travel. Just wondering if anyone has ever had a ghostly spiritual experience or any interesting stories about it and beliefs.
I am sorry. I meant boards not broads. Now those darn boards have disappeared again.
:
but boards will be dano's boards and that's the issue. no one dare disagree with dano.
yes the boards will be boring with just one-sided opinions but we need to please dano. isn't that the purpose of MT Stars?
This isn't RELIGION 101
This happens to be medical transcription we're talking about....maybe you're one of those recruiters that will hire just about anyone, including illiterate people, to take more of our jobs away....this isn't about JUDGING anyone.....it's only about raising the bar and DEMANDING quality and professionalism from our peers......I wonder what you're work looks like......hmmmmm. I still stick to what I said.....If you can't pass a basic vocabulary test in the ENGLISH language.....MOVE ON!
Religion
Can you spell blasphemy?
"Wacked out about religion". How come you sm
don't say that about the others who are completely wacko? I can think of Tom Cruise and Scientology Richard Gere and Buddhism (I believe)to name just two. I say good for Stephen to share his faith. If others in Hollywood can do it, he shouldn't suffer the consequences for it.
pushing religion
I say that about anyone pushing their beliefs..be it gere, cruise, the pillsbury dough boy..You have beliefs, wonderful, so do I..however, that all changes when you try to push your religion/beliefs on others..More power buddists, scientologists, christians, pagans, hindus, muslims, you name it..just dont try to sway me unless I ask for it..
we now have freedom OF religion for all
you are perfectly free to celebrate whatever holiday you wish to NOW. The majority celebrating Christmas does not diminish that in any way, shape or form.
The only time religion
is when people try to force it down your throat or give you the holier-than-thou attitude of "I'm going to heaven, and you're going to hell."
religion board
How would one access the religion board.
Einstein did not believe in religion.

Organized religion
basically is another club. It ends up being about its own entity and not the spirituality it is supposed to embrace. Christ said basically the same thing when he was on earth.
Maybe you could get the other employees together to voice your feelings and needs to this employer to see if you can prompt some very necessary changes. If not, I would start seriously looking for a healthier work environment.
Remember that it is also not good for the people who take advantage to be allowed to do so (work or personal).
I am so sorry about your friend/co-worker. I hope you can gain strength from this loss to make some changes.
organized religion
Your comment aboput organized religion is off teh subject and snarky. This person did not die because it was A CATHOLIC hospital and I for one am tired of this sort of modern day sneering. I work at a Catholic Hospital. I absolutely loathe the manager who will not give me a singel Sunday off but she herself is a Catholic and tries to tell me waht church to go to. She's not a jerk becuase of her religion. She's just a jerk. Period. I won't die from stress becuase my life is worth more that 400 lines. But to make off the wall comments about religion is not ok.
Religion vs. spirituality. sm
Religion is for people who are afraid of going to h*ll. Spirituality is for those who have been there and don't want to ever go back. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
No one who is actively abusing drugs and/or alcohol can have a relationship with Jesus Christ--or with anyone else, for that matter, other than a very dysfunctional one. You must first be clean and sober.
If I'm that much of a sinner, maybe you should just pray for me instead of flaming me here on this message board. Jesus might like that better, who knows? :D
IMO - no. If he hits you once, he will hit you again. It will not matter what religion you believe
x
It is not about religion being a sensitive subject, it is about
posting on the correct forum. The Main board gets so jammed that we have had to create other forums for particular subjects. We only ask that posters kindly utilize those forums instead of posting every single thing on the Main board.
Again, thank you.

Trying to keep this discussion near the top... SM
not because I am egocentric and feel I need to be at the top, but because I just don't want to have to scroll down and look for it every time I have something to add. So, it's not arrogance, it's convenience. Also I would just like to add that I posted my "credentials" so to speak because I was asked to defend my position with what made me qualified to talk about poor MTs.
Anyway, I don't know if I could be classified as an old-timer as I've not had to transcribe on manual typewriters from belts, but I did start out in transcription in the late 80s, right before the internet boom. So I did start out in an office with other MTs who could lend me an ear and give me advice, but most of them were old-timers who felt lost when the internet did hit and changed our profession forever. So all of my computer skills, internet skills, and researching skills are self-taught out of necessity. Because I took the time and made the effort to hone my internet and research skills, I moved up the transcription food chain and moved passed a lot of the old-timers who trained me. I guess I just have no patience for "old-timers" who wear their years of experience like a badge of honor, but then use those same years as an excuse for not using the internet efficiently.
I am more than willing to educate or mentor an MT, whatever it takes, but the MT has to want and accept constructive criticism gracefully instead huffing and puffing about how mean and evil QA is. Most of the time MTs ignore their feedback and make the same mistake again and again. I can quote chapter and verse out of the BOS to an MT trying to illustrate why they are wrong and it will not matter. They see "QA" on an email in their inbox and automatically hit delete without a passing glance.
I am not the enemy in this war called transcription. MTs and QA should be allies against offshoring and we should be trying to elevate our status in health information chain, but we can't be allies and we can't accomplish anything if MTs are constantly paranoid that QA is "out to get them." The sad truth is that eventually we QA people are going to have no other options except unemployment or educating the Indian MTs and ironically the Indian MTs will welcome any feedback that will help them get more work from American MTs.
To all those who posted that I have a big head and have launched personal attacks, I would say you the ones who are arrogant and big headed if you can't just accept that you are wrong sometimes and you can always learn something new and maybe you can learn that something new from me, the QA person who has proven her skills, passed a harder employment test, to get the QA job I have today.
You can call me names and insult me, but the truth hurts and obviously those who are defensive have reason to be.
Well, we were having this discussion about VR in -
the past, maybe 10 years ago, and it never amounted to much of a threat. Considering the amount of trouble I have (and the mistakes I make) just using the touch-screen in the supermarket self-checkout line, I wonder how it will work with your average, technology-challenged doctor.
I also have to wonder - how would such reports be QA'ed? I assume they'd go straight to a medical record, & with no voice file to check against, or worse yet, the doc doing his OWN proofing, I feel I could look into a crystal ball and say, 'I see lawsuits!'
;D
The religion issue came at a good time. sm
My daughter is 10.
We're in the car and she wanted to call her friend Jessica on the cell phone. She said, "It's after 2:00, so they're already home from church."
Then she says, "You know, mama, I don't mind going to church with them, but I hate going up and eating that yucky bread."
I said, "They had you go up for communion?" and she said, "I think that's what it is. The guy in the robes puts a yucky cracker thingy in your mouth, but they call it bread for some reason."
So I said, "You don't have to go up and take communion, you're not Catholic. I could talk to Jessica's parents and tell them that you aren't a Catholic and you shouldn't go up and take communion."
She said, She said, "Well, I'd feel stupid just sitting there when everyone else went up. I'm not going to go someplace bad if I do the Catholic thing and I'm not really a Catholic am I?"
I said, "Of course not. You just don't have to that's all."
She said, "It's okay, I don't really mind it that much." After a few minutes she said: "Hey wait a minute, we're not JEWISH ARE WE?!!!"
Another half hour on the different faiths and beliefs and the fact that it doesn't matter what you choose, but that it is a private, personal choice, and that one should never try to convince another person that their way of thinking is the "right" way.
She thought it wasn't a good thing not to have a Christmas tree, but then thought that Hannukah was "really cool" because the kids didn't have to wait to open a present. Then she said, "Well, we could light a candle every night for the Jewish kids because they don't have a Christmas tree and then maybe we could just open a present."
I said, "Nice try kiddo."
Out of the mouths of babes!
In some cases, I think religion is just their latest addiction.
Didn't Stephen Baldwin used to have substance abuse issues? Seems like some of these people just trade in the substance for religion and pursue it with the same enthusiasm.
Hi Eva! Answered here because I don't know which category to go under on the religion board.
The book of Daniel will have a lot of clues about this, but in a nutshell, the wild beast of Revelation is a composite or sum total of the beasts pictured in the book of Daniel. The beasts in the book of Daniel represented the ruling powers, or governments, of the day. The beast of Revelation represents the same today and gets its power from the great dragon, which is Satan (Rev. 13:2, 12:9), so it isn't surprising that the bible calls satan the ruler of the world (John 12:31, 16:11) and the god of this world (2Cor. 4:4). However, at Daniel 2:44 we're told through prophecy that eventually God will bring an end to all human rulership and will begin exercising his rulership over the human family as the one true universal soverign. He will do this through his son, Jesus Christ (Dan. 7:13,14). The Kingdom mentioned in Daniel 7:14 is the same one Jesus taught us to pray for in the model prayer or Lord's prayer. God's will is being done in heaven because he rules there. So, praying for his his kingdom to come and his will to be done on the earth as it is done in heaven is the same as asking him to take over the rulership of the earth, which he will do. However, that will mean an end to all human rulership here on the earth (Rev. 16:14), which is why the beast of Revelation will be destroyed along with the one that gives the beast its power. That destruction will take place in the "battle of the great day of God Almighty," which is referred at Rev. 16:16 as Armageddon. That is the battle over sovereignty, and that is why it is with the governments (or kings) of the earth. All those supporting those kings or governments will have its figurative mark on their hands and/or foreheads showing that they support the beast with their mental energies (mark on their foreheads) and with their actions (mark on their hands). Those supporting the beast and putting their faith in it will be destroyed along with it (Rev. 19:20,21).
In a nutshell.
Aren't politics and religion social no-nos? sm
And I believe there is a very good reason for that.
I neve discuss politics or religion

Surprised this did not get yanked to the Religion board - sm
everything else does (get yanked that is)....this board is pretty boring these days. Oh well, I am getting more work done so that is a good thing.
All religious topics go on the Religion board. (SM)
Stop now with this or I will delete the whole thread.
Goldbird
LOL same discussion on another board but it was regarding a SM
wildlife cam and people didn't want others posting about it - is the same thing as saying "I demand you entertain me by posting what *I* want to hear about."
this isn't a religious discussion...sm
I didn't ask for *religious* advice, I simply asked for opinions...that's not religious...I know what God thinks about this subject...
"House" discussion!!!
What are everybody's thoughts on the show tonight regarding House and Stacy. Do you think he told her no because:
A: He feels he is not good enough for her.
B: He does not want to hurt Mark after Mark came to see him.
C: He feeds off his misery and can't give that up.
What a great show, great lines tonight.
See the recent discussion
on page 2 or 3 of the company board.
I do believe as stated in this discussion
that we should care for them. I just want to respond to some things said. Yes, our parents have decades to prepare. But my parents worked very hard and were extremely smart with their money and had a good savings when my Dad became ill. However, to put him in a nursing home is thousands of dollars a month. His insurance paid 0 for it and Medicare only paid 20 days. For him to stay it would have drained every pain fast (and it did) and then he would get state aid of course. If you can at all help it, a nursing home is NOT where you want to put a loved one. Some are great if you can afford them, but even the ones you think are good can be very remiss in care. Trust me, I've seen it. They're grossly understaffed and some employees should not be in that field, enough said. I don't and didn't at ANY time feel caring for my Dad was a burden. I did feel it was my responsibility. He's a member of my family. If my brother or sister became ill and had no family to care for them, I would certainly feel it's my responsible to at the very least help them get care but for certain to make sure they're cared for. I can't say how a person should feel towards an abusive parent since thankfully I have no experience in that. No, I wouldn't want to 'burden' my children with caring for me when I'm old. But if I raise them right and I happen to need care, I would hope they would feel privileged and blessed like I did, to help make sure I get what I need.
