Please explain what was snippy, rude, arrogant, or insulting in her post.

Sorry, but that's the attitude YOU put forward. You're the one ranting about not being able to find quality MTs. You use the same nickname and the same style as someone who posted the same topic a few days ago. I think you knew that would incite a riot. Maybe the MTs should start an MTSO bashing post and explain the real reason some MTSOs can't find decent MTs. You reap what you sow. If you're only offering newbie rates, you're only going to get newbie applicants. Maybe it's YOU that is the reason you can't find quality MTs.

Have to post this because I think its both funny AND insulting - sm
This was posted on GURU.com - it's a job up for bidding. But read carefully and look at all the EXPECTATIONS this person has .... for $20/audio hour.
Description: I am looking for several Document Production Specialists to start ASAP.
Requirements:
* At least two years of transcription experience * Excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation * Extensive vocabulary * Medical, legal, and general business terminology * Ability to research * Excellent listening and comprehension skills * Detail oriented * Ability to follow simple instructions * "Just do it" attitude * Professional attitude, communication skills and work habits * Express Scribe software and foot pedal * Microsoft Word * Committed to providing a quality work product
Let me emphasize that this is not a simple typing job. If you have fast and accurate typing skills, good, but that's not enough. I have extremely high standards and you must be able to meet these high standards.
***If you cannot complete one hour of transcription and provide a PERFECT transcript within 24 hours, please do not bid.***
It is very important that you be able to work without advance notice and without distractions. If you cannot do this, please do not bid.
It is also very important that you be able to take the ball and run with it and not ask a lot of questions. If you need a lot of hand-holding, please do not bid.
If you get frustrated easily and cannot handle challenging transcription work, DO NOT bid.
For those of you who want super-easy work for tons of money, DO NOT bid.
I need for you to indicate your days and hours of availability. These days and hours should NOT be flexible. These should be the days and times that you are ALWAYS available to work. You will be receiving jobs during these days and hours without advance notice and you are expected to do them, no excuses.
Please don't ask me if work is available. When work is available, I will send it to you during the days/hours you have specified.
If you are a serious professional, confident about your abilities, take a great deal of pride in your work, and don't mind working for a fair but demanding boss, please bid PER AUDIO HOUR. Keep in mind, however, that you will not be paid more than $20 per audio hour to start.
I responded in a polite way, stating that I do not know of anyone that would take work on a MOMENT'S NOTICE, turn it around in 3-5 hours for the total cost of $20. I got the nastiest response back .... "Well guess what? I've had bids for $10 and $25. So there."
What do you all think?
response to your insulting post on consulting
Wanting to start out with a consultant is called being prepared and nothing to do with my capabiilty of handling a business. both are very two different entitities. Its like operating any other business to get started. If it was not true there would not be any consultants out there. both of you might have started 20 years by the sounds of your posts and it sounds like you might have hit it lucky getting by without contracts. I would rather be safe than sorry but more power to you. I guess it makes you feel "superior."
My post was NOT NOT INSULTING. I just wanted to get some answers
YES HE OR SHE IS ON A POWER TRIP if they keep deleting my questions. Why are THEY AFRAID to answer who owns this company. I will stick around until I get a satisfactory answer. I never said I HATED THIS SITE. Where did you get that from? I am not telling YOU how to post either. So again, ONLY WANT TO KNOW WHO OWNS THIS COMPANY. SIMPLE, SIMPLE QUESTION. NOT an insult.
I think your post is very rude.
You should be more considerate. If this is what he wants to do to get benefits for his family, then why not? Besides, since he makes enough as doctor, then how much he gets paid probably doesn't matter.
I only work for benefits. My husband's income covers the bills. Thus, my pay doesn't matter really, though is nice :)
Did you really read the post??? Your response is rude
and not necessary. If you take the time to read it, she wants donations made to a childrens charity. BUT is saying that if not, gift cards or money would be great . Did you think possibly maybe that would be because the "money" can be given to the childrens charity and the "gift cards" could possibly be used to buy things for the childrens charity. She was not bragging about having all the stuff or having a yard sale; she was just making a statement of what they are having to do so they are not overwhelmed with 2 households.
My mistake...no need to be rude..perhaps i shouldn't post here anymore!
nm
Hi, yes I did explain above. Really shocked by that post who thinks I'm a company...ahahah
NO bad intentions whatsoever. Shoot me for copy and pasting....too lazy to reype.
That's just really funny.
I agree, nasty and rude people lately, where are the grownups is correct in a former post.
I agree with all you said. I come here sometimes just to share thoughts, experiences, and to really help others as it helps me to help. There are some unnecessary, hurtful responses on here. The admin cannot police all and she should not be expected to. Have a little consideration, people, we are all in the same lifeboat here. As for leaving the profession, think about it. I have been tempted many times, have tried working in other fields but totally boring after hearing all that I've heard as an MT. I can't read a non-fiction book as it all seems so shallow and ridiculous to me. For too many years I have shared the lives of people on a real, non-fictional basis through my work. It is an interesting and informative profession and even doctors are amazed at how much information I have in this little brain of mine. I have on occasion saved many people in my family (including myself) from unnecessary harm or eary intervention. Please think about it before you leave us. As for this board, I llove it except for the nasty posts, but that's life. As we all know, it takes all kinds. Most people here belong in the helping profession. If they're in it for the money, it shows. Character shows up in the positive posts on here. We are, after all, supposed to be in the helping profession, not the kill or be-killed attitude some have. I would say most of us come in here for knowledge, friendship and just plain sharing. If we have a little laugh once in awhile, it helps, but not when it turns into a cat fight. IMHO, of course!
All you mentioned in original post was about the money. Explain the rest of the scam. The check
:+
I wasn't getting snippy...
It sounds like you have your mind made up. So, just go ahead and ask for the raise or whatever. But, I thought you wanted shared experiences. Maybe not... Have fun...
Snippy MTSO Ads
Is anybody else getting fed up with the snippy MTSO ads for help? One in particular said "If you aren't off of QA in a week, then you should not have applied." Maybe it's time we took the business back.
Geez..a little snippy aren't we?
not
Instead of making snippy remarks
offer help...As I see the posts above have done. I never said I was perfect. I am in the process of researching this stuff in the meantime I am trying to get a database of people trying to help and fight with me...When it is done it will be done right..I need help NOT DUMB REMARKS...I can take criticism but not condescending BS...To those on the above posts thank you you made some good points..
The silver lining about the snippy ads is it saves us
or even worse, working for them. Although they're shooting themselves in the foot, those kind of ads are doing US a favor. ;)
PS..arrogant to say the least
Arrogant?? Not at all. sm
How does giving an honest response to a direct question regarding income equate arrogance?
I'm amazed each and everytime I read some of these posts that people can be so hateful, bitter, catty, and jealous.
I hate transcription and am totally burned out. I do just enough to get by. If another MT is typing their fingers off and making a comfortable living, I say "Good for them!" How can you begrudge someone who works hard for being successful?? Would it have made you feel better about yourself if she had posted that she is struggling to make ends meet and can't feed her family? Good grief people.
How insulting, I wonder which national he is with, SM
I remember someone saying MQ's CEO called MTs "trained monkeys", but this article didn't specify which company.
I'm not suprised by any of this BTW.
You talk about QA being arrogant, BUT
You post all the time and it is very visible how much you are actually arrogant. You have such a terrible attitude and nasty mouth. Even as the abbreviation you used it is uncalled for. Your opinion is NOT the only one that matters. You are one person i would just LOVE to meet in person. I would be the first to put you in your place right then and there!
I know that. You're the arrogant one here.
Why would I want to be a doctor anyways? I have my reasons for being in MT. Direct patient contact and long hours don't fit into the life plan. Nobody here has to explain themselves to you. The truth is that nobody even likes you because you're such a nasty, mean person. That's why you're here verbally abusing strangers on the Internet. Have you kicked any dogs lately?
Too arrogant for me and I think he prefers men. nm
I agree. You are arrogant.
x
That's an insulting offer for someone with experience. Please keep looking. nm
s
What a joke! Not only is that insulting, listening to that would put me right to
SLEEP!
I have no issues at all. I'm just saying that the OP is being condescending and arrogant.
And if there are any issues going on, they seem to be coming from a person who needs to analyze any posts in diagreement with their opinion as if that disagreeing poster must be crazy and that simply isn't the case.
No I don't think doctors are arrogant and inconsiderate as a whole.
Because they don't dictate the way we like isn't a personal thing against us. Some have skills with dictation that others don't. Like public speaking, some can, some can't. Doctors do have lives and problems and patients outside of trying to dictate patient records.
It's how incredibly arrogant this administration is!
How can you trust anything that comes from anyone in this adminstration's mouth? Starting at the very top!! I can NOT wait until his dictatorship is over. I am really praying that the Democrats get back in office. I can not stand the Bush administration's air of superiority. I don't appreciate being made to look foolish on the world stage. Bush and his cronies are an embarrassment to this country. I can not wait until their regime ends!!
No, I was agreeing that Mary's arrogant.
;)
It supposed to be so insulting to be called the "R" word.
Only whites are accused of being racists but listen to some of the music you hear on MTV, listen to Jesse Jackson and AL Sharpton. Are they racists? Darned right they are! The only difference is that it's somehow become socially acceptable for them to be, but not for Caucasians. We're supposed to feel guilty for whatever is wrong in minority people's lives. Well, we're not. Life is what you make it. If your life sucks, whatever color or nationality you are, fix it or shut up about it.
That is the most insulting, bigoted statement about homosexuals...
I have ever seen on this board. How dare you cram your narrow-minded, hateful, ignorant garbage down our throats when we read your thread in good faith that you had a brain. Shame on you.
Only deleting insulting posts....not normal ones like
At least he's not on a power trip...yet. By the way...if you hate it soooooo much, why are you sticking around to post over and over and over how we shouldn't post?
I just posted a response here and WHY was it deleted? It was not insulting
I was just asking why everyone seems to be so unkind as this person does and just asked for moderators. The nasty posts should be deleted, not questions pertaining to that. Makes no sense to me.
Anyone else offended or insulted to be offered 6-7 cpl? Or is it just me or finds this insulting.
Is this how bad it is that now this is the going rate?? I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I need a career change.
The should've just saved the stamp as it would have been less insulting to receive
x
Gee, I dunno. Maybe since you find Americans fat and arrogant is a start
so we're stuck with your nasty ol' hair-ball self
I hope you realize not all Americans are this nasty and arrogant.
ss
Not nearly as arrogant and inconsiderate and downright exploitative as most MT companies n/m
nm
I personally don't. I think she's arrogant, pompous, and in general, a big mouth who's ful
Aren't you sorry you asked? (LOL!)
you sound arrogant to me. "unfortunate family members?"
like they can't take care of themselves without your noble gifts. Maybe you should be reading some books on codependence.
Yeah, okay. Don't share your views and opinions. Just be insulting, that's helpful. SM
You do realize that your profession is about more than just you. We are all MTs. What is going on in our profession affects us all. It's not just about you or me.
Way friggin' insulting!! Or getting a job at a higher rate & finding a newbie
s
Do you think doctors are generally arrogant and make a lot of money and so inconsiderate of us?
I had been listening to several breast onco dictations by the same female dictator who kept on yawning that it was so annoying...made me want to post a complaint to a forum of mother MDs (though I was not quite sure where I would post it) which I previously run into...
I then saw under the General Discussion board this thread:
http://www.mommd.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/1/t/000236/p/1
That made me feel like reaching out to the sleepy doctor who was probably not being paid for that time she takes to dictate about her patients (she apparently let them pile up before dictating) and just let her head rest on my lap (I am a female). Maybe she did not have enough sleep, or not even enough time to enjoy her family...
Excuse me? Arrogant for buying a house for a family member that was sm
about to become homeless? I think not. You sound like my ungrateful, jealous sister in law who can't stand anyone else to succeed. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. They were unfortunate at the time and we bailed them out! Ask them, they will tell you where they would be had my husband and I not put our credit on the line for them.
Good choice. Appauling, insulting, and every other neg. MT word ya can think of. Holy Smokes. Grant
the Serenity Prayer.
Advice to YOU..1st learn to spell before insulting poster and trying to give advice...sm
Should just post all their open positions in one post and only be allowed to post one of those a day
nm
Please explain further.
What do you mean by WT? Do you paste report into a Word Document?
explain please
what happened?
Could you explain please exactly what you mean?
I want to be aware of anything I may not know about.
I just ran a numbers check in Word, using "Tools" "Word Count" for all my work I did yesterday and the numbers were exactly the same - characters with spaces divided by 65 - except it appears the company software does not round up so you may lose a line there. Otherwise, they were exactly the same.
Thanks so much.
That's what I was trying to explain the other day -
I was hired to hold a sign at a construction site. I was offered more money than I was making at MQ after being with them 6 years. I have been doing MT for years and years, and my skills are non-marketable.
AT the construction site: I don't have to know computers, buy one, keep up with one, be responsible for one, have the internet, deal with updating computers to satisfy a company.
All I have to do is show up.
At MQ they wanted more and more and more. Buy more equipment, know proper English, type fast, no errors, NO RAISES, no work most of the time (their solution was more accounts, what a joke!), offered tech support/make an appointment, offered QA/make an appointment/we will call you within 48 hours.
The way I see it is MQ is covering itself with NUMBERS of transcriptionists.
They don't care if we make a living, only that their dictation is done.
They are going to go through us like water/we can't make a living/ok, they kick that girl to the curb and bring in the next MT/and so on. IT'S NUMBERS, BABY!
They think because they have some sort of "idiot program" going where you supposedly can hire a warm body to clean up jibberish spit out by a voice recognition machine, they can hire 1000 indians or girls with borderline education (after they have driven any experienced MTs who were making anything near livable wage away), and pay them pennys they have the answer to medical transcription and still charge megabucks to hospitals and they will make the king's ransom in profit because they have little or nothing invested (remember they just got rid of the 1-800 phone numbers saving millions of bucks), and now want to pay pennys for editing.
Well, I am off to hold my sign for $10/hour PLUS BENEFITS AND WORKMAN'S COMP, INSURANCE, RETIREMENT, HOLIDAYS. And I will look back in every once in a while at whoever stays in this business while MQ takes it down the tubes.
Hey "bumed" you have it right. And I'm afraid it's not going to turn around until you see piles of blitzed MTs over in the corner. It is a non-career and thanks to the suits they have brought the quality of medicine down below putrid. Get out. Don't spend any more money to accommodate these profiteers. Look out for yourself. Think outside the box. Right now the world is a little upsidedown because everything for the moment is "bottomline". It can't go on this way forever or we will all be dead from "bottomline" thinking. And while it is turning around, look here and there - and don't let MT take you down with it. Good luck to all of us.
That would explain it....
So she is stuck at the age when she was molested, which would be about 6. Poor Yuck! I feel sorry for Yuck!
Perhaps you can explain this to
HOUSEHOLD INCOME DOWN, POVERTY UP:
MORE THAN 1 MILLION FELL OF MIDDLE CLASS IN 2004
Before President Bush took office, under Democratic leadership, income was on the rise, jobs were expanding, and the economy was booming. Today, the Census Bureau announced that real household income has decreased in 2004, falling for the fourth consecutive year. Since the beginning of the Bush Administration, household income has declined nearly $1,700. Over 1.1 million people fell out of the middle class into poverty in 2004, an increase of 5.4 million people living in poverty since Bush took office. Despite this, Republicans still have no plan to help struggling middle class families. Democrats are fighting to create jobs and keep good paying jobs here at home.
HOUSEHOLD INCOME DROPPED SINCE BUSH TOOK OFFICE
Household Income Declined by Nearly $1,700 Under Bush. For the second consecutive year, median household income declined: income dropped last year by $93 -- down to $44,389. In real terms, median household income has declined by $1,669 since 2000. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-1]
African Americans And Latino Household Incomes Have Declined by More Than $2,000 Under Bush. Real median household income did not increase between 2003 and 2004 for African Americans and Latinos. African American households had the lowest median income, at $30,134--down by $2,273 since Bush took office. Median income for Hispanic households was $34,241 in 2004--down by $2,141 since Bush took office. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-1]
Average Earnings by Women Declined by About $330 in Real Dollars During the Past Year. The median earnings of women declined over the past year, from $31,550 to $31,223. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-2]
1.1 MILLION PEOPLE FELL OUT OF THE
MIDDLE CLASS AND INTO POVERTY IN 2004
Number of People Living in Poverty Increased by 1.1 Million in 2004. Approximately 1.1 million people fell out of the middle class into poverty in 2004, an increase of 5.4 million people living in poverty since Bush took office in 2001. The poverty rate has increased from 12.5 to 12.7 percent over the past year, increasing for the fourth consecutive year. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table B-1]
Nearly 1 in 5 American Children Lived in Poverty During 2004. 13 million children lived in poverty in 2004, an increase of about 1.4 million since the beginning of the Bush Administration. This comes on the heels of a 730,000 increase in the number of children living in poverty in 2003. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table B-2 ]
Disproportionately High Number of African Americans and Latinos Live in Poverty. Nearly 25 percent of all African Americans (9 million) lived in poverty in 2004, an increase of over 250,000 over the past two years. Nearly 22 percent (9.1 million) of Latinos lived in poverty, an increase of almost 500,000 over the past two years. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table 3]
1.9 Million More Americans Enrolled in Medicaid in 2004. As 1.1 million Americans dropped out of the middle class and into poverty in 2004, the enrollment rate in Medicaid increased from 12.4 percent of the population in 2003 to 12.9 percent in 2004. Without the safety net of Medicaid and SCHIP for people who dropped into poverty, the health insurance numbers would be even worse. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05, page 16 ]
NEARLY 46 MILLION AMERICANS LACK HEALTH INSURANCE: NUMBER OF UNINSURED INCREASED BY SIX MILLION SINCE 2001
Today, the Census Bureau announced that the number of people without health insurance nationwide increased to 45.8 million, the fourth consecutive annual increase. A total of 800,000 Americans became uninsured last year - many because fewer employers offer health insurance to their workers. As a consequence, American families are paying higher and higher health insurance premium - which are expected to double under Bush's tenure by 2006. Yet, Bush and Congressional Republicans lack a real plan to address the problem.
ONE IN 7 AMERICANS LACK HEALTH INSURANCE
Nearly 46 Million Americans Are Uninsured--Increasing for the Fourth Year in a Row. The number of Americans lacking health insurance increased by 800,000 last year--and by 6 million since Bush took office in 2001. Today, a total of 45.8 million people are uninsured--roughly one in seven Americans. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table HI-4]
