Philips Transcription Station and Vonage

Years ago, I used a Philips Digital Transcription Station to get my MT work. It would plug into my landline jack and then I could dial in to get the jobs to transcribe. This week, the machine has returned since I am trying to help out someone with their work. Unfortunately, I no longer have a landline. I switched to Vonage over the summer. When I try to connect, it dials the phone number, I hear the computer voice that tells me to enter my ID # and then when I do that it is supposed to validate my number and show me the available jobs. It starts the validating process but then times out and hangs me up. Has anyone had problems like this and if so have you been able to fix it.....help please!!!

Is a C-phone like Bytescribe call-in system or Philips digital transcription
My 2 stations don't have the actual phone piece, but I can make calls to the place where I get work. I'm just curious because I want to take a test that requires C-phone, and I'm not sure if my stations will work or not. If anyone can give me some background or information on this, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
philips 9750 vs philips 9850 transcribing equipment
Has anyone had any experience with either the Philips 9750 or Philips 9850? My existing system is proving un-reliable; it has been down all day. Considering the Philips systems.
I have used a Digital Transcribe Station from Transcription Gear in lieu of a C phone just fine nm
Go for the best! Sony, Philips - anything over $50.
Minimum $50 for a good pair. It never ceases to amaze me that MTs spend under $10 for the very thing that makes or breaks their work - Everything is based on what we hear. The difference is phenomenal between a cheap $10 headset and a good $50 and up one. Treat yourself well and go for a good set - again anything Sony or Philips over $50 - wireless are great - Sony makes a great rechargeable wireless. I prefer the Philips regular set that runs around $50. I can hear anything and everything perfectly, while my coworkers struggle and struggle. Invest in yourself and your career - you are WORTH IT!!
What's the difference between a C-phone and Philips
I see one has an actual phone piece. My Philips doesn't, but I call in to get work using the number pad. Can these work the same? If a job says I need a c-phone, should I say yes? Thanks.
will be using Philips. Yikes, I'm terrified now! LOL nm

Experience with Philips 9850?
Has anyone out there had any experience with the philips 9850? It is expensive and I would like to hear your experiences, before spending a lot of dough for it.
We carry the Philips 9850
We carry the Philips 9850 you are asking about. Please click on the link below to go to our company web site. For more information about the Philips 9850 please call (800) 644-9525 ext. 101.
If it's Dictaphone or Philips, you're stuck
If the unit is Dictaphone or Philips and has a proprietary headset with weird prongs rather than a standard RCA plug like you can use with a Discman, then there is no adapter. Those companies want you to have to buy your headset from them or their authorized vendors. I've been through it with both. It's not enough that you've paid big bucks for the unit, they want every last cent they can get, including for the headset.
Trouble with Philips foot pedal....
I just installed the Philips foot pedal and configured the pedal about 30 times but still in order to play an audio clip I have to press the fast-forward pedal. The Play pedal is the rewind and the rewind is fast forward. I was told that I needed this pedal as this was the only pedal that worked with "the system" but I have the same issue if I try to use my wav pedal. (My wav pedal works fine with other applications). Not sure what in the world is going on....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS???
Anyone have that Philips new ergomonic foot pedal?
I got up after transcribing for 4 hours straight and I nearly fell on my face! My foot/ankles hurt so bad from constantly pressing up and down on that foot pedal. I couldn't even put ANY weight on my foot and had pain shooting up my leg.
After transcribing for about 10 years, I always thought I might have to deal with carpal tunnel syndrome but not this!
I'm hoping someone has tried this new pedal. It's called a Royal Philips ergonomic foot control. Says you only have to make very, very small movements with your heel to start and stop. Here's a link to see what it looks like below. I've seen it cheaper elsewhere. I'm hoping someone who has used it can tell me if it's worth it.
Thanks so much in advance!!!!!
I think MQ has lost a lot of very experienced MTs along the way since Philips bought the company and
I think they are hiring a tremendous amount of new and inexperienced people and that is a very good way to lose accounts which they are. MQ has some very difficult and very technical accounts in the big universities they deal with and they are very challenging for experienced people let alone new ones. It takes many many new people to accomplish what an experienced person can do and not to mention QA involvement until these people get trained and then many leave anyway.
Royal Philips ergonomic foot control
I have one of those foot pedals and I really like it alot. It is much easier to use that the other one that I have from years ago. You might consider it to be defective and contact the manufacturer for help.
ARGH.. Have you gone to the gas station lately
or to the grocery store. Do you have a clue what your utilities are going to be this coming winter and WORK FOR LESS. YOU ARE BONKERS
It's slow everywhere right now. But, we have to man the station.

Lanier station
not sure where to post this, but I have a complete Lanier 219 station that I am going to sell. Any offers will be considered.
Went to the Prometric Testing Station
I took my CMT exam yesterday. It took almost 4 hours and was one of the hardest tests I've ever taken. The test gets all done and it just says that you've "passed" and will be getting your certificate and pin "in the mail." Couldn't they have the screen show a display of fireworks or flash "CMT, CMT...." at you.
And I really want to know what I scored. I know they can't give me the answers to particular questions because other people will be taking the test, but at least give me a number so I know if I'm really good or just okay. I'm obsessive that way I guess. I've been looking up everything I was unsure of, and I've only found one question I missed for sure, but I know there are stupid mistakes. And I know I'll be waking up at night in a cold sweat remembering something else I need to look up. Okay, I've finally gone nuts.
Lanier Remote Station
Can anyone send me instructions on how to program an older Lanier remote transcription system? I think it is an LX-128? I just don't remember. I took my out of the closet to see if it works and have lost my instructions. Everything is all plugged in and works. HOwever, I get a double tone and not a dial tone. I remember having to program it but it has been sooooooo long ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Lanier station with Comcast Digital
I have used this for quite some time with no problems. I have also used a C-phone and Voice Solutions Digital Workstation with Comcast and it works just fine. The only thing you may have a problem with is having dictation cut out periodically or what sounds like "choppy" dictation (and this occurs VERY rarely) and all you have to do is disconnect the phone lines and power from the back of the device you are using, wait a few minutes and plug back in and it should work. Other than that, NO problems!
Voice Solutions DA-128 transcribe station help
Anyone know how to set the M1, M2, and M3 phone number memory buttons on this? Thanks!
Check your local police station, that'd be the place to look.
I bet they don't outsource that.....or do they? Interesting.
Lanier station w/Comcast digital voice
Will this work? A couple of years ago I tried a Lanier with Vonage and it didn't. I don't want to go through the setup trouble only to be disappointed again. I really need more minutes than my 5000 per month with Qwest. Has the technology changed to make the Lanier compatible with internet phone service? Thanks if you can help me.
Need Lanier ExWriter to test. Will VDI station or C-phone work or can I rerecord?
I am unfamiliar with the Lanier ExWriter. Can somebody please fill me in? I have a C-phone, VDI station, a call-in system with L.E.E.C.H. capabilities that can download work onto my system from another, or rerecord equipment. Can you access files from call-in systems like you can with a regular telephone and C-phone? How is the sound quality? I am not to thrilled with the .dss or WAV files.
Thanks!
Outrageous. I just forwarded to a local radio station in my area. Who else can we send this to?

Local radio station is giving away American Idol concer tickets. sm
They're running a contest for 2 free tickets. With the entry, you have to list what you would be willing to do in exchange for these tickets. The best/most original idea will win the tickets. Any suggestions? It has to be something the person would really be willing to do. I really want these tickets!!

Vonage
Any of you out there using Vonage? It seems like a really good deal, 25.00 a month for unlimited (opposed to the 110. we pay for Verizon). Anyone using it to connect to hospitals? and do they say anything if you are using 8 hours solid for work? I see they have a small business plan for around 50. If any of you have it, how is the connection and the sound quality.
I have been using Vonage for almost
a year now. I didn't get the business plan and I didn't tell them what I was using it for, and they have never said anything about it. I do dial into a hospital and have used it on a personal basis. The sound quality is good. I have been disconnected a few tiimes in bad weather but not for very long and only maybe twice since having it. Go for it, I think you'd like it. Good luck!
Vonage
I would like to get Vonage but I have two extension phones in my house and they told me it would only ring on one phone and not on the extensions. Any suggestions?
It is not against the law for Vonage as they are
However, for the other LD companies i.e., Sprint, Verizon, etc., it is not allowed. I also used my local carrier only to be notified several times that I could not use it for this type of work and if I continued they would disconnect my service! I know use Vonage and have had no problems.
I use Vonage
Only VoIP plans don't put a minute limitation on "unlimited" long distance, i.e, 5000 minutes a month or whatever. So far no problems. I still get nervous about it though because they could crack down at any time like the other traditional LD companies started doing.
Vonage
I use Vonage.
I am using Vonage
My husband and I are using Vonage. It was a handle to get going but now seems to be smooth sailing. The only problem is if we loose our cable modem then our phones go down as well. Also if you have problems more than likely you will be speaking to someone in India, so I do not know if it is based out of India or what.
Vonage here
Vonage has worked well for me. I pay about $27 a month on the residential plan and have had it for about 4 months. I know some people have had problems with getting disconnected a lot, but I haven't. It must depend on where you live. I use a high volume of LD for MT and haven't had any troubles (so far).
Vonage
I have had such little trouble with Vonage that I sometimes forget that is what I am using. They are great, no problems.
Vonage is
works great! love it...and hubby likes the bill ;-)
Vonage
I had problems from the beginning with Vonage and working on the internet. I finally had to take a loss and switch - went over to MCI. The rate is ok - and your first month is free (26.99) and then every 6 months you get a coupon to send in with your bill for $26.99 - so I guess it is like getting two months a few for free - anything as long as my phone works.
Vonage
Mine used to just keep going when I hit the rewind pedal and would rewind all the way to be beginning of the report. Try changing the bandwidth on the Vonage website under your account. Change it to the lowest setting if it is not already there and see if this helps.
Yes,that is what Vonage is...
I have used it for four years and haven't had a problem. See the messages below about Vonage. Actually Vonage is only in the US and Canada though. You can call other countries but they charge you, but from what I hear, they are very good rates.
Vonage sm
I see a lot of ads for Vonage locally but have heard negative reports on this board. Does anyone have this service and is it a good one? I am in search of a good low-cost long distance and direct cable service. I am currently on AOL and they are pushing broadband either through Verizon or Cox in my area. Someone in my family just went through a terrible business venture with Verizon for weeks and their computers were "totally down" and were unable to transmit important information, so I am being overly cautious.
Vonage
That terrible business venture .... did you mean "Vonage" versus "Verizon"? Okay, if you did then you should know that is a realistic gamble you will always have to take with Vonage and computer down-time. That is just how it is. Computer is down, work does not get done. Second, check the archives on this board for negative Vonage comments. I, for one, have had nothing but a big fat negative experience with Vonage. Spent 6 hours -- HOURS! -- in total over the telephone with every "rep" that Vonage seemed to have, most of them The Patels from India type reps (all called Jason or Tom, yeah right), and even the American sounding reps could just not get there stuff together.
I was a residential user with a single phone line and NOTHING fancy involved, but they just could not get us hooked up. Oy veh!, the frustration. And that was just getting us SET UP? We canceled before going any further. The money savings is substantial, so we gave them every chance to prove themselves, but it just did not work out. Good luck to you. Not a lot of fantastic options, unfortunately.
