Regarding Medquist, it's no secret that the company outsources offshore. That has been made public my MedQuist for some time now.

Me thinks people who change this stuff are trying to find job security
Maybe if they make themselves sound important and knowledgeable every once in awhile with a "revelation" that using q.i.d. might kill someone they will have a job longer than they normally would have.
did you try to do a system restore? anytime i find myself sm
in a situation like yours, i always try system restore to an earlier date to fix the screw up i did. no need to uninstall programs that way either. so much easier. i agree with the other poster, sometimes i get so furious with IT that i hang up on them and fix it myself!! if working on the computer is your income, you owe it to yourself to learn how they work so you can fix minor problems or be best friends with an IT or repair person you can call 24/7 without a huge price.
Oh, don't you know that it's society's fault these people are criminals???
x
Its not the animal lovers fault about abortion and abuse of innocent children, it's the fault...
of our government to allow such a law. The innocent dogs being killed over the so-called rabies roundup vs. shortage of "beef" have no government to help protect their rights to live so the humans have to step in and protect their rights and the humans should protect the human's rights as well to live, but when a government passes laws, etc., you can only fault the government; afterall, they have the final decision.
You might not find much of a change
As I was reading your post, I was thinking about the job I was outsourced to from the hospital. The hospital job was fine; however when we were outsourced to this company it sounds exactly like what you are describing above. We got emails in letters so big they would hardly fit the page, talk about yelling! We had constant instant messaging, so much you could not do your work, emails galore, terrible working situation, changing rules from 1 day to the other. And raises or bonuses? What in the world are those? Here you better work more or type faster. Working in the hospital is a thing of the past for me, wish that were not so.
Is anyone able to find a new job right now if they want to change from their
present company.
Can't find how to change the sounds..sm
on my computer so I can get the "bubble burst" sound back. I was able to change it from information on here before but can't find that post and I had to rebuild my computer and can't figure out how to do it. Would somebody please tell me again? Thanks.
it IS the mayor's fault and it IS Kathleen Blanco's fault
to assess the potential damage and what help they have immediately available in their area. They are then responsible for contacting the feds for more aid BEFORE the fact if they truly know their geography, economics, and have a weather advisory board on hand for such purposes, which they DO.
The mayor and the governor did not do any of this and now as the general consensus of the liberal loonies always turns, if you drop the ball and don't take responsibility for what you're expected to know how to do in your elected office, BLAME BUSH.
Stupid is as stupid does.
As you may or may not be aware, some people prefer to CHANGE
the company that is corrupt than change jobs. Changing jobs does not make quite as big and impact on the company's bottom line or get the attention of the CEOS as a lawsuit. We are going forward with the lawsuit and we will change the company with a little help from the judicial system and the SEC.
That's exactly what I did - moved on - let them find their own people
nm
When people find out that I do MT at home,
they tell me that they would like to do MT so they can "work at home." I refer them to MTEC web site, I believe that's the site, which has a "test" and questionnaire to see if they would like it or have the ability to do MT. Always works. A lot less questions to answer! LOL.
No but I wish people would take the time to find this information. sm
Sometimes it just takes the effort to look. I see people wanting information. The information is easy to find, but they want others to do the research and hand it to them. I had to do the research. I now have 20+ docs/clinics BUT key point is I did all of my own research, learned about how digital works, etc. I truly believe, the more you read (research) the more you as an individual will learn and therefore be able to offer your clientm more.
I find a lot of UNPROFESSIONAL people in this profession..
This has happened to me several times. Going so far as to send me programs and such and when contacting them that I am ready to go, never hear from them again.
I have yet to actually even find a doctor that cares about people! All they are interested in is mon
What I think is so sad is that people may give up good jobs to go there to find out these things all
to late. The newbies can learn and use MQ and move on which they do but of course the clients suffer then with all the people learning on them but this is what MQ causes and when they lose clients with poor quality or people that just throw out work then they caused their own problems. You cant keep good MTs with no work I dont care what incentives you offer because they mean nothing with no work ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I wish people would understand that when MQ hires them.
Funny how people are different. I find islands/beaches to be totally boring.

Even 4.5 is too low. doctors do not change - they still hem and haw, change, change stuff along wit
It is just not enough for the work. Speech is great on the wrists but you are not just reading what is typed, you are making a lot of changes. I have a hard time doubling a lot of days with all the changes I have to make. Just my opinion.
Anytime.:-) nm

Don't change. I had to change back to cable. SuddenLink DSL stinks! nm

You're welcome - Anytime!

Anytime you want to work on it
Let me know. I will be more than happy to lend my marketing experience and anything else that needs to be done.
It happens with all groups, everywhere, anytime…
this post was like if you let your children go to daycare, see what happens. The world has become so evil that it just does not apply to if you have your children in day care. Remember about the mother in Texas, stay at home, who drowned her 5 children at 1 time. Beautiful children and yet a mother no less. You cannot just say not on my watch. That is what I was speaking about. I think lots of people have their heads in the sand thinking just home front is safe and secure.
I think anytime you get a raise you should
thank your lucky stars. I have been doing this for over 20 years and I cannot even remember a raise, probably in the 80s or early 90s? I think most places, the companies here, are not giving raises these days. I make less than the 80s and 90s now. Others will make more but they are probably the ones who have their own accounts.
Here's you a link on it. Won't be anytime soon.

you can sign up for IPAY anytime and see what
your checkstubs say
"To access the IPay information, logon to QNet by going to www.medquist.com and clicking on the QNet box. Once you are in QNet, click on Departments, then click on Human Resources. On the Human Resources screen, just click on the IPay section and follow the instructions. Once you have registered and logged on to IPay, you will be able to access your 2004 W-2 form, as well as your previous pay stub. You can also view your pay statement any time after 8 a.m. EST of each pay date on IPay."
Anytime Felicia, I enjoy

READ ingredients!! Anytime you see
(meat) *byproducts* you are getting *and paying for* mystery meat that *you would not choose to feed to your beloved animal* if you could see what it was. It's not far-fetched at all to call it "road-kill!"
Good rule of thumb: Most of the mega-corporations out there making dog/cat food and spending BIG BUCKs for advertisement of how great their product is - are usually the ones most guilty of scamming you by adding unhealthy ingredients.
It's not that difficult to find quality food for your best friends -

I love my ESL docs and would see one anytime sm
over an English as first language doc. All they care about is money, not patient care. I think the ESLs actually CARE about their patients.
Change provider vs change to business plan
In your place, I would seriously consider changing providers if there were others available in your area, but I'd ask around about their service quality first. It may not be any better. If there are no other providers, then consider changing your service package to a business account rather than residential. They're usually more expensive, but they also tend to get faster service if there's a problem.
Last summer, I had no electricity for 3 days due to severe storms, but there were some 600,000 in the same boat with me. We just had to wait it out. It's a downside of working at home.
Anytime a company does not honor its own paydates,
I would never give a 2nd chance to miss it.
If you have anything in writing or email, I would take that to an attorney. They owe you money. You were given a paydate and they failed to pay. I would also take to the attorney a list of dates/times you tried to contact management, who you were trying to contact, at what number/address, and the response you received.
Not honoring paydates is a zero tolerance issue in my book.
I would make sure at the very least to contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.
Good luck.
anytime a doctor's wife is involved in the

If you spent anytime here at all, y'all know how I feel about offshoring. :0) SM
What most don't realize is while there are laws protecting your medical data in the United States, these laws are unenforceable overseas. So basically, a patient's supposedly "protected health information" isn't really protected at all once it electronically crosses the borders out of the U.S. I think it is important that all patients be aware of this fact and have a say whether or not they want someone in India having access to their medical data!
I've been talking to a newspaper reporter in my area who is interested in running a story on this subject especially because I have firsthand knowledge of a local hospital who is outsourcing all of its transcription to a MTSO that offshores to India. I'm very excited because I've been pushing for public awareness of this subject for a while and I feel like I'm finally on the threshhold of effecting real change in my little part of the industry.
Anyway, change has to start with us, the MTs. We are MTs and we are patients. We have valuable knowledge as MTs about what happens to our protected health information and we should pass that knowledge on to those patients who don't have the benefit of being employed in the healthcare industry and are unaware of what happens to all that electronic information that makes up their medical record. I've told my whole family to ask "who does your transcription" at the doctor's office, the hospital, etc. When the doctor's office or the hospital hands you a HIPAA disclosure, that's your opening to ask questions about who all sees your medical record, who does the transcription, and is your medical information protected even if it is sent to India to be typed.
Okay, that was my soapbox speech for the day.
Anytime I've tested, it's always been the same test on mttest.com, or careerstep. See if you c

change attitude, change life
The first thing you need to change is that defeatist attitude! I know that's hard at times like this, but that's when you need to most.
I won't go into detail, but my financial situation is also at an all-time low, we couldn't even exchange gifts., daughter in hospital twice, & no med insurance)..but then I heard about how much worse things were for others around me this season. Now I'm thankful instead!
if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.
As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.
It's our fault
I saw an article yesterday (can't remember which newspaper) that said that. It's America'a fault there's global warning, its (whichever gods) punishment to the US.
Not my fault!
Only because the bashings start immediately after I post and then I react - sorry for being human!
My fault
Next time honey, we will turn on the lights so everyone can see it. Also, I would appreciate all the music turned down so I can hear you say to me "Oh Frank, my goodness you are so......" I just love it when you talk to me like that. For that my dear, you will get a bonus in your check next pay.
Yes of course my FAULT
Yes I looked up words, Yes I did my research, YES I HAD A BAD ESL WHO DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH !!!!!!!!! That is WHY
My fault sm
I also usually stay off the boards, but I totally forgot tonight. That's OK
It's not the dog's fault....
nm
Right...and of course, it's someone else's fault you were
Still can't post, still don't get it and still haven't learned to just stay out of the conversation as obviously they're not looking for your opinion...rude and mean as ever. Of course...that's just an OPINION. blah blah
How was it my fault?????
I was sitting there minding my own business. He walks over and blurts out my test results. Exactly what should I have done? Put tape over his mouth? I had no idea what he was going to say before he said it. I am the injured party here who is out over $100.00. I have to type an entire day to make $100.00.
It's always our fault
I learned a long time ago that no matter what, any mistakes made will always be blamed on the MT. If something doesn't get dictated by the doc, the excuse is inevitably either "it was lost by the transcriptionist" or "that Transcriptionist isn't typing all my dictations."
I used to greatly respect doctors - and then I became an MT and started actually having to work with them. Boy did my opinion change - and fast!
Lu..........thank-you. If I have a fault it sm
is being blunt. But, I am not going to sit here and beat around the bush and sugar coat things. I have seen too many whiny, complaining MTs in my career to cater to that stuff any longer. If you have been in the business a long time you know what I mean as do all of the others who have done this for a long time.
Maybe the bluntness comes from working on production for years (which I like) or whatever, but I don't have time to baby and soothe. If people don't want to hear how the business is then don't listen (most don't listen anyway).
The Mts who are successful in this business, working on production, know that we don't have time for the nonsense! I especially don't have time for the folks who are complaining because they have TOO much work and have to do different accounts, when there are people out there begging for work! Kind of reminds me of people who complain of having no money, need money and the overtime is there, but they just don't want to work it today! GEESH!
I don't fault you for being pessimistic
because the both the companies and our own so-called professional organization have trodden on us for so long that most MTs really don't think there is any other way.
Fortunately, nothing I have planned requires the "companies" to listen to anything MTs have to say, "whining" or nicely.
And nothing I have planned requires cooperation from the beneficiaries of cherry picking with wonderful accounts and who are happy with their jobs.
The essence of the situation is that services are much more in danger of extinction in this age of technology and the global economy than are domestic MTs. The majority of them are on borrowed time.
The companies don't have the assets that are critical to the future of the profession. The offshore companies and their transcriptionists certainly don't.
The only ones who do are the MTs with the skills to do the work that can't be done by VR or offshore. Those are the only assets that aren't commodoties. Those skills can't be replaced by a software robot, a matchbook-school new graduate, or an offshore wannabe cherrypicking-transcriptionist to do the easy "Queen's English, theatrical elocution" dictation.
The MTs are the ones in possession of the assets that are critical. The skills are the asset, not the job. The job can be sent offshore. The company can fire you from a particular job. But the critical assets are still in the hands of the MTs, who have the power to shape their future by harnassing and directing those assets in a positive way.
Why is the MT's fault? Apparently he
is being allowed to do that by his supervisor.
It isn't any MT's fault -- given opportunity, then those who really want the money will make it.
I know that for myself I work my schedule. I do work extra quite a bit of the time -- at the request of my supervisor. They ask me specifically to work more.
Surely, you are not suggestion that I say, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I just can't work any extra. You see, MT Mary Poppins will get huffy because she will think I'm stealing her lines and then I will be called a greedy MT so I should forfeit money to be made for myself because of how SHE feels." ???
If you TRULY think that is reasonable, you are going to be miserable as long as you are in this job.
If I am asked to do more, I will do it as long as I am working in this business. It's NOT unfair to anyone. It is my opportunity to make money. Nothing is unfair about that.
