but I did not say hate the BOS, I said hate the AAMT that produces it. Very few people have any respect for that organization any longer, but continue to buy the book from them, which is still feeding the monster, as I put it. anyway, that is just my opinion. NONE of my employers, or any one that I have ever tested with, used the BOS. I know what the book is. I have seen it and still think that it is just guidelines and nothing is set in stone. MOST doctors have their own preferences anyway, which have nothing to do with this book. I have many many reference books, so it is not that I don't believe in booked reference material. I have spent a good amount of money on them and have no qualms about continuing to do so. they are all invaluable, simply as reference material. I simply object to the AAMT, which has *shot the american MT in the foot*. but that is still just my opinion. enjoy your coffee.

serious line padding, not expanding slang or an abbreviation here and there. What do your account specifics say? Mine always outlined whether abbreviations should be expanded in the body of the report. It's standard to expand them in diagnoses, impressions, etc., but not in the body.
However, ask your supervisor/QA. They'd have the best answer.

Well my goodness...SIMON...how interesting that name should be used for such a rude post...wonder if its a real name or does he wish he were SIMON off of that tele show...you guys know which one I am referring too, or maybe HE is is love with the other Simon...oh who knows...anyway...to point out your ignorance Simon, just because someone does not know the next steps to take in regards to opening a business or whatever the case may be and that person ask questions of others who may know, well that only educates them more. There is never a "DUMB" question. We learn by asking questions by talking and listening to others. You Simon have pointed out the true reality that there are those who assume or dont ask questions or make rude comments to cover up their own lack of intelligence. And you Simon, well you just put your ownself in that category.

I just e-mailed the administrator and you guys have a limited amount of time of access at this website. There is a hijacker taking it over and extorting the domain name (mtstars.com) for money. They are in the process of switching the website to another one (mtstars.net) and working with some legal teams to fix this issue. The extortionist, a.k.a., creep, gave her a 12- to 24-hour window to pay up or else he will take over the website. She informed me that the website will be just a copy of the old one and he won't have access to any of our information. He is a pest that wants money. I suggest that everyone spreads the word and watch for when *the creep* takes over! I hope that makes sense...
Meanwhile, she is working very hard to get mtstars.net up and working, and I applaud her for all the work her and her team are doing to protect us. The website is not going away, just changing domains (from .com to .net).
I guess it is time to make a stand...
I just received my first subscription via E-mail to Advance Health Magazine.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY ACTUALLY HAD TWO ADVERTISEMENTS IN IT FOR HIRING INDIA MTs?
These are about 1/4 of a page size. One is from CBAY, which is Spheris, which is their 100% India company. Bragging a 30% decrease in costs to hospitals.
This not only threatens American MTs with losing jobs outright, but it also UNDERCUTS us. This is why we are making less money, less benefits, and needing to work harder.
I sent an E and cancelled immediately. Actually, I had been considering it for a while because of a bit percentage of their Medical Transcription articles are pro- undercutting American MTs, anyway, just like AAMT.
In my opinion, WE ARE BEING SOLD-OUT, AND BEING SOLD-OUT BY AAMT as they push harder and harder to make money any way they can, even by supporting Indian MTs, who are probably being told they "have" to join their organization...
They have been trying to force American MTs to become certified to fill their pockets and position themselves for the future as a monopoly. However, it seems American MTs are not as easily led as in India, so they flip-flopped. If you can't beat them, join them, right?
I am so disgusted. Last month they had an article from someone encouraging companies to hire American MTs and I was so hopeful, but this made me sick, to get it in my E-mail.
Time for me to make a stand. My job is worth fighting for and I need it...
I guess if there is a 10th it's time to replace my 8th!

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)

I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time. I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.
