Compiling a phrase and word list
The software that does this is Instant Text.
IT can make a list of the most frequently used words and phrases in your transcription. You select the folder of files you want Instant Text to "read" through and in a few seconds your list is done.
Instant Text also includes a number of glossaries ready to be used. See link:

Is there a way to add a premade list of words or phrases to Autotext (not Autocorrect)? I need that little suggestion box to pop up for me. Is there a way to do this or do I need to add every word individually?

Hi all. Well I have a ton of entries stored in my Instant Text program. The problem is, that now that I am using Editscript version 8 instead of version 6, whenever I use my instant text program, it freezes up on me.. So I am just wondering, is there any way that I can transfer over my IT word lists over to autocorrect in microsoft word?? I think this is the only text Expander I can use with editscript 8. I really appreciate any help with this!!
You can highlight the entire list and use the convert text to table option in Word. You can highligh
You'll want to convert with 4 columns because you have a paragraph between each address. That paragraph will wind up in the 4th column. When you're done, you can highlight that column and delete it.

MEDICAL WORD SPELL CHECKER
I want to update my 2000 Stedmans Spellchecker. Is there a newer version and what would be the best one to get.
I have medical students spelling every third word, such as N-O-S-E, sometimes twice.
This is how they dictate. The patient's eyes, that is E-Y-E-S, eyes are round, R-O-U-N-D, reactive, and equal, -E-Q-A-U-, I mean E-Q-U-A-L to light. Nose, that is -N-O-S-E, nose, is patent, etc. Funny that these are the ones that usually misspell their names.

Medical Transcriptionist's Guide to Microsoft Word book
Does anybody have this book? Is it worth the money to buy it if you are pretty comfortable creating macros and such in Word already? Just wondering.... I am always looking for new ways to increase my speed and make things easier. Any info would be great from someone who has this book. Thanks!

I would buy new a Dorland's Medical Dictionary, Stedmans Medical and Surgical Equipment...SM
and Tessier's The Surgical Word Book, 3rd edition. Books you could buy used I would say would be Stedman's Pathology and Lab Medicine and Cardiology/Pulmonary word book. These are all the books I use the most during my day. You could buy other speciality word books as you need them and could probably go used with those.
I wouldn't bother with buying a drug book, new editions come out every year and I just stick to the FDA website and RXList as my drug references.
Also FYI, not a book, but I use my Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictationary a lot. It's easier to open the program than it is to pick up a huge 30-pound dictionary.
Regarding Taylor... Is it just me or....
has he gone from a rather sloppy looking spazz to looking pretty sexy? Okay, maybe it's because he seems a little older than the rest because of the gray hair (he's 16 years my junion), but he's kinda HOT these days! Last night when he was danced I was thinking........ I must admit the first few weeks watching him was soooo annoying, but he has grown on me and I actually enjoy watching and listening to him sing and perform. He's good and I think he deserves to win! I think Taylor will win it all. And I agree with what the poster said about Katharine. There is just something about her. When the judges say something bad she always has this look like, well that's what you think, but you're crazy.
According to Diaidol.com, Elliott is at the bottom, but it's very close. They're been right three weeks in a row.
I really like Elliott the best but I think Taylor
will win. I just think it's a shame if Kat is in the final two. I think Elliott completely deserves to be at LEAST 2nd. I think he will do well regardless and hope he gets a record deal out of this at least. He's different, Taylor is different, but nothing about Kat is anything but ordinary. Of course Chris was different too. I thought it would be cool to be down to the three guys. I think they're all unique, they all have completely different styles, and that's great. I think they ARE American Idols. They each highlight a different kind of music that Americans love. I really hope that Elliott stays tonight!
