Oops, forgot this was in regards to
my hubbys work. He has to drive probably about 6 or 7 miles to get to his terminal-he drives one of the 18 wheelers. Now get this, he brings home (with taxes taken out) more in a week than I make in 2 weeks but I am gonna DEMAND to his job, probably will write that letter later on today, that they pay for his gas in order for him to come to that high paying job. I am rolling in the floor laughing as I type this. Thanks for the laff of the day.
oops...forgot my "s"...that should be desperately! and I am!
oops, I forgot to answer your question. sm
I didn't mean to say 2 lists open at same time, but only 2 can be merged at same time. Does that make sense now?
Oops! Forgot to mention the pedal!
Sorry. The pedal and headphones both plug into the dictaphone.
Sorry for the confusion.
Oops, forgot tho. That job I typed in Word.

Oops..sorry your right. I forgot that. I specifically ordered my Windows XP as Vista is compatible w
Just about every computer has Vista now but I went through Dell and found the computer I wanted with Windows XP and then went into ebay and got it $400 cheaper than what Dell was going to charge..The one downfall, it didnt have Office Word etc.. installed so I had to buy that but I still came out ahead.
a bird!
LOL!!
If i had a choice I wouldn't do this guy, but i ALSO know I have it pretty good. No ESL doctors to date for me... but that doesn't ALWAYS mean the English ones are easy!! I have asked him, his partners, and the office manager consistently that he speak LOUDER because I honestly think that's the biggest problem. I have him up full blast and if you put a different doc on at the same level, it blasts my eardrums out! Nothing has changed, but that's why He is the only one to receive blanks in his dictation!! :)
Any pet bird lovers out there?
Thinking about getting a parrot, either Amazon or African Grey. Anyone have experience with either? Any pros or cons you can share?
I have had smaller birds in the past, i.e. cockatiels, so have some experience, but never have owned a larger bird.
Bird lover to the max!
I am an obessed bird lover!
Started with one cockatiel 7 years ago, fell in love and gradually got three more. I have 2 Australian Bourkes and 3 parakeets. Advice I can give you is get or subscribe to BirdTalk or Birds USA. I know these magazines are not widely available, but if you can, they are a great resource. The thing you have to keep in mind is the time you will have to spend taking care of a larger bird. That is key. Birds, especially the larger ones, require a lot of interaction and attention. I do a lot of reading about birds because I find them fascinating. Avian behavior studies are really only 20 years old, and what is being discovered is fascinating. They are much more intelligent than was previously thought. They now know that birds actually do understand at some point, they understand context. This explains how emotional they can be. Getting a large bird is a commitmentfor life. Birds feel emotion, and a bird can actually die of a broken heart if left alone too long, become destructive, or develop feather picking. It is a commitment one has to think about before getting a large parrot. Also, you may just surf the web for information. There are lots of websites, none of which I can think of right now! Good luck to you!
Bird rescue, etc. (s/m)
Interesting story about the birds! It sounds like you are doing a great favor to a lot of animals. Yes, actually the Queen Bee friend did request that I give back clothing I didn't want to her, but after the fact. I already had my nose a little bit out of joint by then, so felt that I would just put an end to the problem in its entirety by no longer accepting gifts with strings attached.
It is different with animals, though, and I agree with your request to give birds back to you, since the birds have feelings and have already had unstable lives. I got my cat through a cat rescue, and although he is now MY cat, I signed a paper agreeing to return him if I didn't want him (ha! that'll never happen), or couldn't care for him. That info. is actually on his microchip, as well. If I were to suddenly die or something, I would have the peace of mind in knowing that even if he ended up in the animal shelter, one scan of the chip would let them know the cat was to be returned to rescue, and they would actually have someone drive down to get him. Then he would be safe and well-cared-for until they found someone else who would spoil him as much as I do! ;)
I used to do this doctor that had a bird ...
and all you could hear was that flipping bird sqwaking and, excuse the pun, getting its feathers in a bunch. That thing was loud and "bossy". It knew a few words and I would hear it say "Hello, bye bye baby." Ughhh... It drove me insane because he would be on bright and early dictating from home his surgery patient H&Ps and all you can hear is that bird. I think I had nightmares for a while about that thing. It used to always make me want chicken for dinner.
Thankfully I no longer transcribe for him.
So you bird lovers-name some of your favorite
When i got home, my parrot would ask me "being a good bird?" (as though since I had been gone, I may have been naughty).
My next favorite was when he got something especially good to eat, he would say "mmm, yum-yum!". We share spaghettis noodles and race either to the middle!
about the same as killing all birds over the bird flu sometimes...
you have to do what you have to do. If there is mad cow disease, everyone kills cows. If there is bird flu, we kill birds. If there is rabies, we kill dogs. Any epidemic in the making has to be stopped before the epidemic starts. Oh, and the West Nile virus, we kill mosquitos. The only thing with the deer ticks, we aren't forced to kill deer, people do that for sport. lol
Buy a Bird Talk USA to read over before deciding
It is an annual issue that discusses all the different species of birds and their quirks and specific needs. If you do decide on an AG, consider one older than a year or 2 old as they go through a maturity phase during that time and can change personalities or change the object of their affection. I have a personal preference to Soloman Island Eclectus males. Like most Indonesian parrots, they prefer not to be touched on the back of the head/neck but with love and tenderness, they can overcome this. These birds can bond to and love several people at the same time while maintaining the primary bond to their "main human" which an AG may not allow (all birds are individual in this).
Whatever parrot you decide upon, from a parrotlet to a maccaw, treat it as it is a 3 to 4-year-old child. That is the intelligence and emotional level they function with. Find out when they reach sexual maturity and be prepared to deal with the sometimes violent mood swings or changes in preference with whom they bond (this is very important especially if you hand feed one). Rotate the toys every couple of weeks. Don't be bashful about taking it on walks in the park, to the beach. Be careful about birds of prey if you let it play on a perch outside. A varied diet is a must (If it's good for you, it is for them. If it's bad for you, it's bad for them). Consider the toxicity of your house plants. Let them take showers with you.
Okay, I'm addicted to them. I'll stop now
My friend's bird rang like the phone...
That was so confusing and quite funny. Also, my girlfriend from grade school had a parrot that overheard me say, "I'm going to the bathroom" and when I left the room it said, "Go pee pee, Go pee pee". I missed it, but they had a great laugh!
Hmm, guess I shouldn't have included bird and humans. nm

you also need to know the animals that you broker. I grew up on a farm so I broker mostly farm animals but have done dogs, cats, birds, etc. You'd be surprised at the "pets" I've been asked to locate, some I had to get on the net and do a crash study.

For anxiety you can minimize the stress if possible or learn to better manage it. I have insurance so I am on medication and just started counseling this time around as I am dealing with a lot right now. Do research if you think that may be it and try to help yourself by teaching yourself stress relievers or taking time for yourself to help until you can get insurance or doctor opinion.

I forgot the most important thing. Learn to recognize what is important, what can wait, and what cannot. Dirty dishes, can wait. Laundry, can way. Cleaning house, can wait - unfortunately it will be there when you get done doing life. Doing life - those are the things that you only get one shot at. Got to the football game even if you have to stay up until 2 a.m. to get your work done. Go to the partk on a pretty day even if your house is a disaster area. Play in the rain with your children even if you want them to stay clean. They will not remember how many times you washed their clothes or mopped the floor; they will remember looking and seeing your face as they slide down the slide; they will be able to tell other people how many times you have played outside with them. When we do life, we pass a legacy on that nothing can break. When we do house work, if just has to be done again.
I hope this encourages you. Remember, you will not always get it right, but as long as you learn to say "I'm sorry" and do not quit, you will always be a hero to your children. I know. My 2 kids are now in college and I can see the results.
If you need someone to stand shoulder to shoulder with you, I am willing.

You can probably get these appendices at Dictaphone Corp website. If not, let me know if you need more help. I have the Correction Editor Manual and a list of all of the Quick Keys.
Forgot that one! (sm)
I never watched it when it was on but I got hooked on the reruns. How many years was that show on? It seems like I hadn't seen enough when they were showing reruns of the reruns I had already seen. That is a good one.

I loved Sisters. And remember Once and Again. I loved that!
Forgot one!!!...
Sooner or Later with Rex Smith and Denise Miller from 1978 or 1979. Please tell me I am not the only one who remembers this movie. All the big hair (guys and girls!), short, short jogging shorts with knee high socks (on the guys!) and the jeans so tight it is a wonder they could sit down! Love that movie!
I forgot about that sm
I vaguely remember that movie. I loved Rex Smith. Had my hair cut like his. Soooo cute.

The version I have does have dosages. I would not buy the book, just the CD. I hardly ever crack open a book anymore as it takes literally seconds to hunt for a drug or word in the CD versions. Save your money there :)I did a search on the internet and you guys are referring to the same program I am so I'm not sure why yours isn't working for you like mine is working for me, unless it's the version that is causing the problems?

this is where you can work using ICs to your advantage. Just as they are not obligated to do the work, you are not obligated to use them. Usually, when they see less work coming, they either get it together or move on. And the latter is for the best if they miss TATs repeatedly, which puts your client relationships in jeopardy. Again...JMO and experience.
BTW, my approaches may sound inflexible, but I must be doing something right; I have a waiting list of experienced MTs, including former colleagues, who want to work with me. And all my clients but two are by client referral.

I forgot to say that we never run low on work.
It is not bad for everyone. I get a little tired of hearing the same tirade over and over. If you are so unhappy with where your field is headed, just move on.

Actually, I figured 43% went to everybody (FICA, state, and feds) based on my 9.83 cpl. Don't know about state, but with 25% coming out you would need (9)/(0.75) or 12 cpl; at 35% coming out you would need (9)/(0.65) or 13.8 cpl.
11 cpl would allow for 19% coming out.
Hopes this make sense.

If the hospital uses templates built into Editscript, can you say big money real fast! Also there is a feature called samples where all reports at the hospital for a certain time period are stored. So if you have an operative report that is transcription instead of VR, you can search by the doctor's name and cut and paste say a previous lap chole or something and save your fingers!

As far as hourly pay, sorry, but I don't know anything but my own. However, a recent surgery in AHIMA Journal showed an average starting yearly wage of about 38,000 and up to almost 60,000 or more with experience. Keep in mind that is a national average and a lot depends on where you live.
