Dear Mr. Shatner
You're very funny! Unfortunately, some of the folks on this board are not TV viewers, or they are not old enough to remember you or Rescue 911.

Shame on you for toying with people's sympathy. Get your hiney out of here.
"Help"

I have treated my "help"  or subcontractors very well.  I more than bend over backwards to be flexible with their schedules and so on.  But I have been burned several times by them as they feel that the are the "help" and I am the owner so it is my problem as the business is mine.   And that is right, it is my name out there, I get the business and if things go down it is my business goes down.  But again, I cannot control how much the accounts dictate.   I only take 2-3 cents cpl for me which covers me picking up, printing and delivering tapes, invoicing, QA and so on.  But in this day and age I cannot charge the docs 15 cpl so I can pay someone 11 cpl.  I pay my gals 8.5 to 9 cpl per gross line and charge 11 to 11.5 to the docs.   But I am tougher than I used to be and if you commit to doing a job you better do it.   But again I cannot control the the amount that comes in that is completely out of my control and so there will be slow days and there will be heavier days.  But also cannot bring on more than we can do either as if we don't produce we will lose the account anyway and again it is my business name that is on the line not my "help".    I have been on both sides of this business and until you walk in the shoes of the owner, don't speculate that they have any control over the volume of work that comes in as we don't.    And just as many times our computer might go down, how often have I been called to say -- "I will be late with the work as I just lost everything" or "My computer just crashed".

Word usually has really good "help"...sm
Word has a really good "help" function. You can usually just type in a few key words of what you are wanting to accomplish and the program will find matching "help" topics to figure it out. For example, if I were trying to convert something from Word to WordPerfect, or the other way around, I would type in either "WordPerfect" or "Conversion" or something along those lines. Then, try and find the matching "help" topic that will benefit you the most. Hope this helps!!!
Disregard that "help please", forgot to change the name.

Google William Hung
American Idol watchers - Unbelievable, this is something my hubby told me, did not see in any newspaper, ET, TV news, not one word.
This took me to the William Hung library, am I in the right place?

An older one...The Doctor with William Hurt...
Has anyone seen this one? It was actually really, really good...I also love Urban Cowboy...I like older movies....
Gary Sinise, William Petersen, Tom Berenger

I tell you I thought I died and went to Heaven when William Hung sung that song, Shake your bon bon!

RESCUE YOURSELF

Rescue yourself.

I just did it.  It takes an immense amount of energy when you don''t have any from the abuse.  You have to sell whatever you can, go to Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, whoever/whatever will listen to you and GET OUT.

I just did it.  It was not easy and I had to dump all my pride.  But the fact is, I did it and now I can sleep at night and there is peace.

You just start begging family, friends, churches, to help you.  It is worth it.  The result is that you and your babies have peace.

You will prolly have to go to court, and that is scary, but remember, dig in.  You are fighting for your kids's peace of mind.  It is worth every effort that you make..You will be told no more times than yes, but you will be told yes enough to make it out.

Pray. Ask.  Wait for the break that you need...and take it.

GOD SPEED.

Oooh I LOVE St. B's. No room though.

Had one in the neighborhood as a kid that liked to "play baseball" with us. This was pre-leash laws. Darn thing would catch the ball every single time we hit it and we'd have to draw straws for the duty of sticking our hand in the St. B's mouth to retrieve what was left of the slimy ball. What a great dog he was though.

oooh Diddles - come to Miami! That would..

Oooh, thanks for the heads up- I can't wait to see it! nm

Marion to the rescue
You are a lifesaver woman!  I can never thank you enough.
Thanks, didn't think of a lab rescue. I will NOT

take her to a shelter.   The rescue is a good idea because I'm sure they would have the heart that I want her new owner to have.   A local station does have a TV spot weekly, but only from the various shelters.

I just wasn't sure what a reasonable time to keep her before I found her a new home.

Bird rescue, etc. (s/m)
Interesting story about the birds! It sounds like you are doing a great favor to a lot of animals. Yes, actually the Queen Bee friend did request that I give back clothing I didn't want to her, but after the fact. I already had my nose a little bit out of joint by then, so felt that I would just put an end to the problem in its entirety by no longer accepting gifts with strings attached.

It is different with animals, though, and I agree with your request to give birds back to you, since the birds have feelings and have already had unstable lives. I got my cat through a cat rescue, and although he is now MY cat, I signed a paper agreeing to return him if I didn't want him (ha! that'll never happen), or couldn't care for him. That info. is actually on his microchip, as well. If I were to suddenly die or something, I would have the peace of mind in knowing that even if he ended up in the animal shelter, one scan of the chip would let them know the cat was to be returned to rescue, and they would actually have someone drive down to get him. Then he would be safe and well-cared-for until they found someone else who would spoil him as much as I do! ;)

doberman rescue
I'm happy to read your post, thanks. There is a rescue in Illinois, my border state, so one day I will go there; I visited the web site, which makes me happy there are places like that but sad also that the dogs end up there. You are right, they get a bum rap; they are misunderstood. They follow you around your house and just want to be by you and love children. My first one years ago I left her tail long and ears down; I had compliments all the time on how pretty she was; she one Third Longest Tail award at a dog show once. My last one I had to put down in the spring due to degeneration of her hips. Yours lived a long time; average life span I think is 10 years. They are beautiful, protective, loving dogs. Some day I want to sell my house, buy some acres and have a rescue of my own.
oooh! I have one!! Cherry-Picker Park! (nm)

Oooh, that sounds yummy! Thanks for the recipe!
:)
Oooh, I just LOVE what's for dinner posts. sm

Funny thing is, I just put chili together for tomorrow. Dumped it in the crock pot. put the crock in the fridge and will do a slow cook thing tomorrow. Yummy.  Must be cold and rainy where you live too.  All I could thing of was chili, baked beans or a big pot of hot soup. :)

Tonight we had baked pork chops and oven baked red potato chunks. Very, very yummy and very, very easy.  Here's what you do:

Dice up potatoes (with skins on) and layer them in a 13 x 9 baking dish. Add 1/3 cup cooking oil and 1 package of Lipton (or store brand) dry onion soup mix and stir it up. Then mix the other package of onion soup mix with bread crumbs, rinse off the pork chops, and roll them in the mix and throw them in a baking dish as well.  Put both in the oven at 350 degrees.  Potatoes usually take 35 minutes. Pork chops depend on the thickness. WICKED GOOD!

Oooh, cajun turkey. My favorite!

I need some help fairly soon please. DH has
broken out in red blotches that are very itchy.  He took some Benadryl to relieve the itching, but what could this be?  Is it something he needs to see a dr for urgently?  TIA
I need some help fairly soon. sm
There's a rash on my hiney (referred to hereafter as DH -- dear hiney). It's getting splotchy. Can you tell me what it is? Also, do you think it was something I caught or do you think it was something I ate?

Should I call somebody? Do you think I need to take DH to see a doctor?

I think this is going to be urgent fairly soon so please let me know. Thank you.
Fairly new mom

Things not to buy -  When my son was born, we got 40-something blankets, 30-something burp cloths, and way too many 0-3 month outfits.  While I was extremely grateful for all the gifts, I had to spend a lot of time exchanging the multiples.  Amazingly, we had to exchange a lot of diapers, too, because the cheaper ones don't always work as well on little boys.

Things I loved were anything homemade, personalized, etc.  Also, outfits, socks, and onesies in bigger sizes, 3-6 months and 6-9 months, were a lifesaver and money saver as he got bigger, which seemed to happen overnight.  You can never go wrong with wipes, shampoo, and other essentials.  My son is 1-1/2, and I have yet to buy any shampoo or lotion for him.

I am fairly new at this,
and I have made the mistake of using palpations before. I know the correct term, but I just made a mistake. As soon as I see that mistake corrected, I realize I messed up.

I do not see how someone with 20 years of experience could be making those mistakes and think they are correct. I have known those proper terms for a long time now. I just cannot see how they would make it this long and never once be corrected on them.

Agree with Lab Rescue. A friend of mine sm

is involved with them and fostered labs before she got another dog of her own.  They will provide the dog with medical care and a loving home while they try to find a good home for the dog.

Thank you for being so diligent caring for this dog.  You sound like a terrific person.  Labs are such wanderers.  Hopefully someone will claim the doggie soon.  Good luck!!

MT doc to the rescue; ma'am, i think you have ADHD or hypersensitivity. sm
maybe we should prescribe you some meds for that. it will make you perform better on your job and help you greatly. now, i need you to follow up with me weekly so we can draw some labs and keep a check of your status to make sure we don't need to adjust your meds any. that will be $250 for today's consult. yep, and $75 for your RX. oh yeah, and when you come back weekly, expect to pay another $100 per visit plus lab fees. sorry, having a boring, working night. had to spice something up, lol.
Here's one fairly easy
I was once a "head on a silver platter" - Got a big square box top, bought some cheap fabric enough to drape over the box, cut a slit and a hole in the box top enough so it would fit over my head. Then I also cut the fabric to drape around the box and decorated my face up  in white face paint with red lips to look like the blood had all drained out of my face. You can embellish it anyway you like. I made the platter out of a bid cheap silver tray like you get at Thanksgiving to put the turkey on and a I pasted plastic fruit around on the platter. The point is just to make your head from the shoulders up look like it has been cut off and put on a platter. Everyone liked it. I could email you a pic later if you would like. It was really fun.
Red splotches! Need help (fairly soon)! nm

I loved those 3% raises every year. Oooh, a whole 'nother quarter per hour.
Cost of living went up faster than wages.  Then they'd wonder why turnover was so high as everyone left for greener pastures.
I thought I was fairly good at them
got several that I absolutely could not understand 1/2 of what was being said. Made 100 lines in 3 hours!!!!
It's easy if you are already an MT, but you really need a fairly extensive...
knowledge of anatomy.  CT scans, PET scans, MRIs... Knowing your anatomy really helps you catch mistakes or know that you're not making mistakes by typing the name of a body structure that isn't even near the area of that particular scan.  At least where I work, if you make mistakes on x-rays the radiologists get REALLY TICKED!  They read them all and when they find the smallest error they're on the phone to the transcription manager, and we hear about it.  Doctors are making medical decisions based on the findings of these x-rays and scans, so you can't exactly be making errors.  But, if you have a good medical transcription background, you can be trained pretty fast.  I had never done them until recently but learned fast.
Me? I drive a fairly new car. so I'm not "carless." You? nm

I don't think you could fairly penalize an MT for not understanding a word without (sm)
without also penalizing the dictator for not being able to speak the word.
