Okay, I hate to be the one to scream law suit, but this reeks of discrimination.

I would seriously check out the descirmination laws in your state because that is exactly what this is.... Oh as a Large and Lovely girl myself, I am furious along with you. Okay not that I would ever want to work for a company who had the moral ethics of a flea, but they need to learn that they cannot treat people like this. Man the nerve..

Sorry meant discrimination and reverse-discrimination. My typing got ahead of my brain! nm
sorry for the typo but my heart was in the right place. :)
Wow! This REEKS of damage control!
Love psych notes. HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE,
HATE ER notes.
Scream....
I hate my computer.
I use Windows XP and type in MS Office Word 2003. My voice files come through VoiceWave Player by Digital Voice, Inc. I type for several different facilities and each uses a different font, from courier which shows up thin letters to arial which shows up bolder and larger so it drives my eyes crazy to swap back and forth between accounts. That said, when I am typing my screen shakes. The words literally shift on the screen, not the screen shaking on the desk (which it also does). The letters also change while typine from regular to a bolder type and back. Screen otherwise works fine, it is only about 2 years old. If I shut down the voice wave it works fine, so it seems to be bewteen word and the waveplayer.
Anyone had this problem or have any solutions.
Do you just ever want to scream
Do you ever just want to scream - Normally line count is around 1200 or so (depending on which system I'm using), but they put you on an account where the dictators are so bad that you end up with a 400 line count for the day. And the dictators whose primary language is not english and they have very strong accents seem to just speed talk and the whole report sounds like just a few words when it is actually an 8 or 9 minute dictation.
Does anyone else have these days or am I just in the wrong career field. Been doing this for 8 years and this is bad. Yesterday at the end of the day I had such a headache and my line count was just over 400. I quit working for the day and figured I'll get a good nights sleep and start fresh in the morning and sure enough I'm getting the same as yesterday.
Just curious if other MTs go through this too.
So bored I could scream
I thought working from home would give me more "flexibility" to be with my family; little did I know that I actually have less time with my family now than I would at a job in town.
To take time off, it must be scheduled months in advance. An emergency has to be cleared in advance. I'm so bored that I'm eating to keep myself focused and awake at night. I would cut back, but I don't earn enough to go part time. It is harder and harder to force myself to go to work, and harder and harder to stay focused, particularly when I have a bad dictator which is more often than not.
I think I'm so burned out I'm crispy around the edges.
One of those that just makes you scream.
OK. My current dictator seems to feel the need to do dishes while he dictates. I can hear water running (loudly) and crockery banging about. And, of course, he's on a cordless phone with static. Grrrrrr I know it could be worse, but why can't they just think about how these extraneous sounds make it difficult for us to accurately transcribe their dictation???
I'm goign to scream...
if this doctor doesn't quit calling Chromagen "Cro-Magnon." Also, if he doesn't stop calling a proton pump inhibitor a protein pump inhibitor. The sad part is I don't think he's goofing around.....
word help, about to scream
I am so sick of the numbers in word doing weird and crazy things, not indenting right or bolding on their own and now to top it all off they are bolding on their own and are very little, so I start with a normal 1 and then the 2 is tiny compared to the 1 and it is bolded, can someone please help me.
This is my Friday SCREAM!!!! sm
I have had a terrible week that just keeps on "getting better" over here.
I don't to talk about it, it would take hours. I just wanted to scream. Mercury must be in retrograde, the moon might be full, SOMETHING is out of alignment.
If you want to scream too, DO IT. It won't help much, but it gets it out.
If it's discrimination - SM
why do companies hiring MTs as ICs/employees ask for that information, plus two forms of ID. In order to work in this country, you must prove you are a US citizen.
I have had several occasions when applying for work as an IC that I have been asked not only for two forms of ID but a birth certificate as well.
That's age discrimination.

Discrimination
Anymore we all have some form of discrimination and I am sure it will only get worse. I detest the fact that my husband and I have to sign for allergy meds Alavert-D or Claritin-D at the pharmacy and can only get one package at a time because some "low life druggies" are using these drugs and other compounds in this "free world" to make their so-called "goodies" so that they will have less brain cells than they already do. How disgusting! I know what they are doing is making it safer for us, but at the same time is a pain in the butt.
I am so tired of MTing I could scream -
I am doing my very best to keep a positive outlook that something else will come along. Anytime I see something in my local newspaper I apply. I have also registered with agencies, but it seems like all they want to offer me are more transcription positions.
I'm tired of looking up information because a dictator only gives you "partial" dictation, such as addresses, etc. Do these educated human being know that there are more than one William Smith and many different ways to spell Smith. This takes time AWAY from my fingers typing - and if that happens, I'm not making money. I'm about ready to send it to QA with a blank and let them figure it out.
I cannot wait to get out of this business! How do these ESLs make it out of med school? How in the world can the professors understands them - Oops, I'm sorry --- the professors are probably from another planet too!
Ready to scream (venting)
I am doing a loooooonnnng psychiatric report by an ESL who must be sitting 1 mm from some machine that is beeping loudly every half second. I am able to hear every fourth word over the loud beeping and that word takes me five minutes to decipher because of his accent Is it noon somewhere so I can have a drink?
you want reversed discrimination?
My husband is a student there. Each class is 5 weeks. He has had the same students in his class since the beginning. The whites are always working hard on projects and presentations. The blacks do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but they are passing the classes. All of the whites who have them in their group have complained about this. The reason is, the students pass on the basis of groups rather than on an individual basis. If there are 3 whites and 1 black, the black does nothing but is considered part of the group and passes.
THIS IS A FACT!!!
major discrimination
My husband works for an agent with a major insurance company. He is not the agent although he does have to have agent's licensing. We were told probably 15 years ago, that a white male would not be allowed to become an agent for many, many years due to people (this happened to be two women) who declared that they were discriminated against in this company. So to compensate for discrimination this national company will not hire a "white male" for the appointed amount of time (which was a very extended time period of many, many years) unless that "white male walked on water." That was their quote too. I have heard (but have not verified this) that this same "discrimination" is going on in the medical field. Therefore, you have all the ESL's who are able to get into med school but the American Caucasian is not chosen because you cannot discriminate. My question is "Who is really being discriminated against?" In my husband's company -- It is the Caucasian white male and I have a feeling that it is the Caucasian that is discriminated against in the medical field as well.
Discrimination and ESLs
What do you think should be done about the inferior treatment that was heaped upon other groups of people for centuries? I believe your comments were mean spirited and insensitive, and if I were you, I would search my heart and think about what is in it. ESLs help to keep MTs busy and sharpen our listening skills. One of the worst accents I ever had to transcribe for was from the United Kingdom--where "proper" English is spoken. We now live in a global society, a diverse America, and there is no going back to how things were before. Thank God for that!
Maybe a discrimination issue
They can tell your race and age that way, and for an employee application it is probably illegal. For an IC it's completely out of line since the I in IC stands for independent ie. none of their business. Would you ever make such a demand of a doctor, plumber, lawyer, etc.?
You have to have lots more with discrimination
charges. What you have said in your note are "looking up and down" and things you take as being discrimating, nothing really. Your changes of really a suit like this would be about a big 0. Insurance companies are to make money- what about all the homeowners being cancelled on the coast because hurricaines hitting other places and not theirs? It happens! A company can turn you down for any reasons - regardless of your passing their test- they don’t have to hire you. I have looked all over your original post and nothing here that would be a court case. Saying making room, asking if they could eat a cake? If it were chocolate and I was really in the mood, yes I could eat a couple of pieces and so? Most could, they just don’t say they could!
And how about that AGE DISCRIMINATION! Only hire
.
My Russians scream into the phone, especially the women.
Not sure which is worse, the mumbling or the screaming and screeching.
I have still to see one whose face does not scream : Plastic surgery
after they had it done.
Really!
Or Botox, for that matter.
Especially MEN just hate it!
They hate everything artificial.

I hate DocQSribe, I hate DocQScribe, I hate DocQScrbe, I hate DocQScribe, I hate DocQSribe.

AGE DISCRIMINATION - agree w/ poster below. nm

It is called 'reverse discrimination' and there
concerning this a few years ago. I don't know what the outcome was.
There is no such thing as REVERSE discrimination.
Discrimination is discrimination regardless of which race /person is practicing it...
Yes, they bite..and scream like children. CREEPY!!! EEWWW!! LOL

Love cardiology, hate podiatry. Hate discharges, but

That is discrimination......there is a National Awareness Group
to fight against obesity discrimination. Look into that......I don't think, by law, insurance companies can do that, but I may be wrong.
Really, that is awful. It is a form of discrimination, just like not having a seat on an airplane to fit larger people. Eventually, all planes now are supposed to accommodate those with disabilities and I think obesity has been labeled a "Disabiilty' of late.
Check into it further, for your own benefit. Good luck and I wish you well.
Yeah! After 11 years of it, I'm so sick of it I could literally scream, and that's no joke!
And these docs who dictate faster than the speed of sound, like they could give a rat's butt because they're in too big of a hurry to get out on the golf course, I like to strangle with my own bare hands. I'd like to tell them all what I really think about them. Truly, I have zip respect for 99.9% of the doctors out there today, who seem completely incompetent. How they manage to get out of med school I'll never know!
It would be discrimination to care about nationality of person you are hiring.
People can't hide accents. Can you hide your regional American accent? For instance if you are from New York, can you hide that and speak in a Georgia/Southern accent? What are you thinking?
I hate those but I hate trauma notes on children even more sm
I used to work for a large hospital that saw a lot of children for various horrible things.
The very last one I did was a 12yo boy who had hung himself while his mother was at work. She thought he was in school. The doctor cried, I cried (as I usually did) and I just couldn't handle that anymore. That was the longest report I swear. Short in lines but the length was almost an hour. The doc didn't pause the machine, she cried, horrible gut wrenching sobs, and I did too, right along with her.
We are not threatening a suit,
These people stole our lines, we earned way less than the federal minimum wage, and we want our money. I could have earned more money at McDonald's!!! Just FYI, not meant to be rude to you.
No suit here, sad sack...
Hey, ME (how original...)- if it's been awhile since you've been there, who could you know anything? I like where I work, and many of my friends do as well. We could all stand to make more money, but I know for a fact I'm making more bank than 90% of you out there, just based on my speed and accuracy and the amount of lines I average. I used to work a FT job AND a PT job and didn't make combined what I make here! You just have to know your stuff, be disciplined at home and good at what you do. Sounds like you were lacking all the way around. Let me guess- you are now an IC, riight? Why- no one would have you? Oh, you like your FREEDOM, riiight...while you are enjoying your freedom, which is just saying you don't have enough work to keep you off the boards all day, I'm putting out about 2K lines a day at a top line rate too. The few times I call in they've been nice (never met any of them though), and they are always sending me thank you notes and stuff. You enjoy your "time off"- I got vacations to pay for! If you want to come back, email me. I'll get a referral bonus!
Sorry we cant be Ayran and hairless enough to suit you.

It is not a class action suit as of yet
It is not certified class action because MQ filed for the proceedings to be held in NJ with all the other law suits. Therefore, this is stalling the certification of the suit to class action. They have received numerous calls over the checks.
Of course they cannot offer legal advise as they are not representing all MQ MTs as of yet, it is still the original 3 that filed, but I don't think it would be wise to cash it. That is just me. I know there are those that will disagree and call me names, but thats my two cents.
You can customize IT to suit your typing needs
You can customize IT to better suit your needs.
For marker selection, you can select what marker keys you would like to use from a list of options in Instant Text. Right-click on the phrases advisory and go to Options and Marker Selection. There, you can select what word marker and phrase markers you would like to use.
You can also adjust the visual feedback. If you find the advisory lines difficult, you may want to start off with using just a few advisory lines. To change the advisory lines temporarily, right-click on the words advisory and select the number of lines you wish to have. To set up the number of advisory lines to a permanent number, you can do so in the Linking Options.
You can also work with zero visual feedback if you like. Simply hit "Alt-" (that’s ALT and the "-" hyphen key) to hide IT's visual feedback.
You may want to try to do straight typing for X amount of hours per day and just use IT for an hour or two and slowly build-up your time each day.
You can always email the Instant Text tech support if you need any help.
I was in a class action suit once & got $600

I'd hit mine just getting in my bathing suit. nm
For that amt of $, I'd be filing suit. I can't believe you're going to
I was involved in a class action suit
against PayPal, probably 2 years ago, haven't seen a penny. I was in a class action suit another time, can't remember who, and I did get some $$, I think about $15.00. I don't initiate anything, just get e-mails or letters about them.
If you want to sue, you MUST have damages to sue for. GO to the DOCTOR or a suit is worthless.
I've seen enough Judge Judy (I love her, too!) to know this. If you have no damages, you get no money. With no PROOF of damages, you basically have no damages.
You would need to take pictures of any scrapes and bruises that you have as a result of being dragged, falling, the leash pulling you, etc. You also need a doctor's report. A judge won't just take your word that you were hurt. Good luck!

Professionalism is an attitude, not a particular vocation.
The collective bantering on this board is the kind of thing that, to me, denigrates MT just as much as low wages and newbies coming in undercutting the rest of us.
I don't see very many MTs with a good attitude. I am no different, and, therefore, I'm getting out. Big old red flag when I can't even talk nicely to others in my profession. Plain and simple. Do I have a ton of resources? NO. Do I make a ton of money that I can pull this off? NO. I am trying to be smart and patient about it.
What I read on this board truly depresses me. I see a bunch of negative, defensive, downtrodden, burned out people.
I know PLENTY of professionals in PLENTY of other fields who have made the decision to work at home, or work part time, because their family is EQUAL priority to their careers. They do not appear to have a priority problem to me, nor do I think they care any less about what they do. They have made tough decisions, made some challenging sacrifices, and have a LOT of discipline.
If proven fraud, will you file suit against her?

Hhhmm, and what color suit are you wearing

changing verbs to suit nouns
