Oh yeah? Go to company board and read about Heartland's layoffs.

it's really not fair to tell people to get into this business when it's obvious there's big trouble and the S--- is just starting to hit the fan...

And its gonna kill you to post on the Company board rather than the main board?

This post should be made on the Company board. See that board. Thread locked.

Oh yeah, you all have to read about this one (sm)

Who said ER reports were boring?  I typed this one myself.  A young female was standing in her tub shaving her legs, you know with one leg propped up on the side of the tub.  She fainted/fell and somehow lodged the star-shaped faucet handle in the tissues of her vagina.  When EMS got there she was bleeding profusely and they could not free her from it.  They ended up having to cut the faucet out of the wall and bring her in with it still lodged in her vagina.  She hemorrhaged and ended up coding in the ER.  They resuscitated her and had to take her to surgery to get the faucet out.  She was fine after that.

here is a link from the New MT board-you might want to read a bit on this board

I meant to say Job-Seekers Board, not Company Board.
No mssg.
Yeah, I read the fine print...sm
on the brochure AFTER I signed up with Bell South for unlimited long distance. It said something like it had to be voice to voice (I'm thinking not recorded voice). It's suppose to cost $20/month, but if I go over 5000 minutes, they will tack another $50.00 on my bill.

I was up front about why I wanted unlimited long distance when talking to Bell South's call center lady (from India), and she said it would be no problem. We'll see.
Yeah, I kept all mine and my daughters will get to read them when
have a bunch of them, Judy Blume, I think is the author.
COMPANY INQUIRIES belong on Company board, please!
Goldbird
You put them on the company board, not the main board. They are still there.
x
Yeah, what company is it for?

I think they're blowing smoke up your nostrils.  I'd look elsewhere or take the employee status.  Errors and Omissions insurance is expensive, and it usually pertains to attorneys or accountants.  I checked into it before when I had my own accounts, but I just put verbage into the contracts that the physician is liable for notifying me of corrections.

I have always been told that it is the physician's responsibility to check over the completed reports, ask for changes, and sign off on it as complete and accurate.  They're the ones with the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, not us.

Yeah, company required it.

It seems like eons ago, but I don't think I bought it myself....I think the company purchased them and took the $$ out of the check for them.  Don't quote me on that though.  I'm referring to it all the time for stuff.  It is interesting though how they do change things over the years from one version to the next.  Being the conspiracy theorist/anarchist that I am, I'd say this most definitely is a survival/money making tactic on the part of AAMT.  It's kind of like how I feel many companies ensure you keep buying their products...they specifically design pieces parts to break or wear out.

Oh yeah, company name - teletrak- nm
x
Yeah, but does your company allow you to come in and work whenever you want?
I would love to work for a company that offers employee status, offers benefits, and will allow me to work whenever I please, just coming and going whenever suits me. The only companies I know that hire employees require a set schedule and require you to be at your desk working during your shift. This is why I am still an IC without benefits. I cannot commit to the same schedule every day.
Are you serious? Have you read this board?
We have MT's on here all the time that are in foreclosure and losing their homes, who can't afford to buy clothes for their kids and shop at Goodwill, who need us to take up a collection for Christmas presents!

Enough said!
I read all the way down the board and only saw 1
thread complaining. OH, I forgot this thread. Make that 2. I don't think that's so bad. Besides, people have to vent. Imagine if every time we got mad at our husbands or kids we just quit. Wouldn't work out too well.
If you had read this board, you might would have
thought differently. I just saw 1 person posting the other day and had stars in her eyes about the future of transcription even when others saying how it has gone down over the years. If I were younger and had just started, I think I would weigh very seriously the postings here, knowing they have experience in how this job has gone from 1 of being able to raise a family on to 1 of just chump change basically.
should have read except on job seeker board
except solicitations on Job Seeker boards here for MT/coding etc.
Read through all the posts on the New MT board. Top 3
s
Read your post on the other board....
It discussed not having health insurance any more, not being an employee, having 2 IC jobs, etc. You speak of this as the CURRENT/FUTURE situation, not in the past. I know the subject of Keystrokes not hiring ICs has been addressed many times on this board.

I don't mean to make you defensive, but you posted pretty much 2 separate messages about a single job and they give conflicting information. I'm just confused.
Look down this board and read the thread titled
"How to make money MT'ing" by Dano. It is excellent advice. It should help you a lot. Also on about page 4 or so there are a couple of threads that discuss how some of the higher producers get their production, hints and tips on expanders, macros, etc.

You can do very well at this line of work if you want to and really appy yourself!!
How do you do a search on this board - my topic will never come up and I know I have read about it
nm
People who read this board still apply
at companies they are warned about.  Your book would not only be a waste of time, but no one will buy it.
I wish I had read this board before I joined Softscript

Not only were they liars and cheats but they are incredibly Dumb.  The VP of Human Resources has to be one of the most incompetent people on the face of the earth.  No, don't quit your good job for THIS MESS.  Run away!  Run away!

I'd be interested in joining that lawsuit...

Hayseed, I am so sorry to hear that. Last I read the board, sm
you were very happy at DeVentura. How did it go so bad....!!!

I wish you well.....Good luck!
Here's a hint: Read the rest of the board.

Yes, Jay certainly does read this board. I know because he threatened to sue me if I didn't remov

certain posts some months ago essentially about the same subject content as now.  If Jay truly owes previous employees and current employees clearly it would behoove him to do so as it certainly doesn't look very good when his indiscretions are plastered all over MT sites.

Just read on the AI board that Anthony Federov is dating
Heather Cox.
I hope that student doesn't read this board. sm

I don't think this was a good place to look for a laugh at a student's expense, even though I suspect you weren't intending to be mean or condescending. We were all there once.

After 30 years in this business, much of it in QA and QA management, I've gone back to transcription and I am still learning things from my QA people. Humiliating at times, yes! But its all a learning process.

Post about Companys on the Company board, post job ads on the Job Seeker board

LOL, you read my mind. Just the company I was thinking of, too.

:O

Better read your contract with the national company before doing that. sm
Most companies have you sign a non-compete agreement. So, you can not solicit their clients for at least 1 year after your termination from them. Some companies do not have that agreement. You need to read your contract before you go down that path.

Good luck!
Read the tips from the poster at the top of the board about Word. Good suff! nm

SEE COMPANY BOARD!!!
SEE COMPANY BOARD
It's over on the Company Board.

I tried selling on ebay for years.  It was kind of a hassle.  Once I cleared the clutter out of my house, I had to find merchandise to sell.  There are a LOT of people out there claiming to be wholesalers, drop shippers or resellers who are nothing more than con artists.  I tried selling craft kits and books purchased direct from the manufacturers/publishers, but you just can't get a decent wholesale discount unless you buy in huge volume.  Plus, the prices on ebay were often cheaper than the wholesale price.  I used to go to yard sales late in the day and offer to buy their remaining stuff at a cheap rate.  I made OK money at that part of it with the collectibles and used books, but my house got cluttered up with other people's junk.  I also signed up for Avon and scented candles with the intent of selling online, but later I found out they had stinky rules about online selling.  Other people do it, but you can lose your account if they catch you.  And you have to sell a lot to make any decent money.  You're also competing with ex-reps who went out of business and are trying to liquidate their inventory.  Plus, I had nowhere to store everything.  It's a hassle finding shipping supplies, although you can order boxes and labels for free through USPS.gov and charge everyone for priority shipping.  Plan on driving to the post office nearly every day.  And keep good records on what you purchase and sell to figure your cost of goods sold for the IRS.

You might enjoy it.  Give it a try, but start out slowly.  Use as many templates as you can and prefigure shipping or you'll get a bunch of emails from people.

on company board...
nm
I would go on the company board
posts, check the archives, and also maybe check out some other forums to get a few ideas.  Some companies are merely expanding, and some are not very good companies to work for.  Good luck in your search.  Sorry about self-righteous and condescending posts below.  I think your question was simple, to the point, and totally appropriate.
See company board

See all the answers under your question on the Company Board -- again, do not feel it is necessary and I am not along in this thinking.  The doctor is liable not us, we only transcribe what he says and he signs off on it.  Talk to someone else who works for Accuscribe and see that they say.  To me it is foolish.

(Try the Company Board) sm

You will have to do some research yourself and see what would be a good fit for you.  Try reading on the company board, do a search on whatever you want to know about.  There are way too many variables for simple answers to your questions.  (Besides, you are preaching to the choir, we all want the best)  Good luck.

How comes this person wasn't reported to the monitor board? I told someone to read the red note on
I'll probably get banned for writing this, but my comment was much milder than this. I didn't call anyone any names. What's up with this?
Read between the lines. When a company starts saying work more to make more
and you have to work in assembly-line fashion like an automaton, they are having a cash crunch.  They held out one salary to you to get you to do the job, then they turn around and cut your pay because you make too much.  They don't sound financially stable.  If you've only been on the job 2 months, start looking elsewhere for a more financially stable company.   Send out your resume and see what other companies have to offer and check out references for those companies.  I and a friend in the past have gone part-time with a new company before resigning from the old one in order to make sure the new company is going to be compatible with us. It's hard to do, but it's short-term for only 1 or 2 weeks.
