Oh please, somebody tried to make me feel guilty for leaving a horrible job using this same line.

my head, neck and shoulders last night as I talked with DH about what to do.  I slept like a rock last night, too.  I need to focus on the things that make me happy in life instead of letting a low paying MT job for someone else control me.  I keep talking about getting my own accounts, joining a gym, and pursuing a hobby of mine that has the potential to earn money, but I never had time to do those things because of working for other people.  I gave notice this morning, which they didn't need, so I'm taking the next week or two off.  I'm going to super clean the house, join a gym, volunteer at the school, and make up some business cards.

Thanks to everyone for your input.  Life's so much better when I have goals and dreams to pursue.

I have been feeling bad the past couple days about making my sister upset. They think I am too down on their son, which is WAY off mark.   I am down with the way they have given him this gift (car), and how he takes it for granted, and how THEY cannot see that.   They bought it brand spanking new, and he had it trashed the first few weeks with cigarette stink, never cleaning it, etc.  They would drop little hints about how he should maintain it....  but they hate conflict so there you go.  By calling this a gift and allowing him to do whatever he choses with it is merely them taking the easy way out.  My sister has not  had to earn a dime in the past 25 years.  Perhaps she does not realize how things like a new car should be EARNED not given... she does not know the value of a dollar.  Okay, I better stop.

I don't think it's necessary to treat people this way.  So why don't you take your keyboard and stick it somewhere for safekeeping until you feel a little nicer. 

"Uh, I dunno.. I'l sling the freezer open at 6 oclock and toss some fish sticks and french fries on a cookie sheet and slice up some fruit."

Seems like everybody is so gourmet....

If there is anyone out there new and still considered a mentoree and able to work full time and make rent please tell me because I need some encouragement.  I want to quit the day job to be able to do this fulltime but when I do the math it just doesn't add up to the rent:-)

but I am wondering if you are doing full QA.  By the line is NOT fair pay for QA.  I know I mentor new MTs on a very difficult account and there is no way you could earn a decent wage on any amount of line pay, no way!

Don't go telling someone they could do better if they are paid by the line.  Quality specialists MUST have ethics in their work.  You can do a decent amount of reports a day and give feedback and mentoring, but you certainly would not be earning $25 an hour on line pay that I have seen....just no way!  The most I have seen QA paid is 7 cents a line and still those women do not average that amount. 

Now, I don't know what you do or if you listen 100%, but most QA positions I have had have had megablanks, 100% listen as well as 100% feedback and you just cannot produce that much doing your job in a proper manner.
