To the OP: If it were me, I would be glad I found out now
these companies promising the packets were dishonest or not telling the truth, rather than go on and train and spend time working there and finding out they lie and are dishonest. All things happen for a reason and there is a good job just around the corner. One which is true to its word.
I'm glad it works for you now
Yea!!!
Glad you found your fit! I honestly do not see how some people
stay working for some of these idiot companies for so long. They must have higher tolerance levels than I do! LOL
Glad you liked. I found it pretty amusing myself.
.
Glad to hear you have found your "nitch", and
It is so nice to have a place to go where there are others who can understand where you are coming from. Good luck on your new job!
I am glad you found that, but I live a long way from
Michigan. I live in Texas. There is a clinic nearby me hiring MTs to work in house. I went and interviewed yesterday. When it came down to me asking her questions I found out that the in-house job was mainly editing speech recognition. She out sources all the standard transcription work. She has some ICs at home that do some things to. I asked her if she was planning to do away with the MTSO and bring all the work in-house and hire locally. She says her goal is to convert all files to the speech and do away with the MTSO.
I just wished they would understand it would be better for the economy keep the money here and not outsource to places unknown. When I worked in-house for a hospital, I referred several friends and family to the doctors I worked for, whom otherwise would have gone elsewhere. Employees are the best advertisers there are. Not everyone pays attention to billboards, TV ads, radio ads. I usually tune it out myself if I am not interested in it. The local hospitals are more capable of doing things that the locals don't know about so they drive elsewhere. But I think they all see black and white.
You are a FUNNY person. I'm glad you found this board!
LOL
Glad I found Oracle and thanks for your response, it is helpful!
Thanks again!
Glad someone found humor in that question because I hadn't....until now)
Glad it works for you... but I think you need to raise your rate and at least do a dime! nm

I have found nothing works for me like Lanier
Tried many others (very expensive also) and could not hear as well with any of them so I keep going back to Lanier and the best part is they're not expensive, around 25.00.
Here is the only thing I have found that works sm
Get a full 8 hours of good sleep at night.
Most people in the US, especially the female people in the US, do not get enough sleep. We push, and push and push, and do for everyone...but not ourselves. We stay up late trying to keep a nice house. We cook meals, do the dishes and work. Men don't get it. ANY woman who works outside the home can tell you, we ALL work the second shift of housecleaning, childcare, cooking and laundry. Men work one shift at the office and sit on their wide fat arses for the evening and complain about what they aren't getting. Precious few will clean up in any way, shape or form.
OF COURSE you are tired and draggy at work. Once I finally realized that I was overeating to compensate for being so very tired I looked at my fat behind and understood that sleep is more important than food. I started insisting on 8 hours of sleep. Guess what? I don't power nap at my desk anymore! I have lost 40 lbs in a year and I am actually getting more done, at work and at home.
No amount of energy drink or caffeine makes up for sleep.
I have not found one yet. Tried a dozen of them - nothing really works well or lasts long. nm

Happy cooking.
I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM
I have used with Word and Word Perfect. I have used it with Meditech and Cerner. I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology. I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose. If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.
I was really simple to learn to use too. Very user friendly.
Thanks XXX. I found a "Microsoft Works Word Processor". You say I save those as files?
I do have a CD drive so if I can buy WORD like you mention, I can load it.
Do you think it would be beneficial in the long run to invest in WORD (maybe buy it at BEST BUY or something) and load it on my computer? I am going to be doing lots of work, so better to use as good a program as I can as far as being able to SAVE stuff - There will be lots of opportunities for macros (or saving paragraphs, etc). Whatever the term is these days to mean: saving lots of words, LOL.
I have never found a program shorthand does not work with, it works outside the program (I think tha

A combination of both, but mostly A
People who have been dependent on the government their who life have never had anything expected of them but to take, take, take.
They then expect the government to take care of them and it's never enough.
They teach their kids to expect the government to take care of them.
None of these people have ever had to be resourceful, ambitious or develop any life-maintaining skills.
So it goes on and on and on.
The bottom line is this:
People will be what's expected of them. If nothing is ever expected of them that's what they become.
Somewhere along the line society was given some kind of responsibility for taking care of people who refuse to even try. I have no problem with the gov't helping out someone who has lost her job, got divorced, has an unexpected crisis, but most of these people have been on some kind of program for generations and just expect it with no intention of ever supporting themselves, and even worse, they reproduce like rabbits because there are no repercussions for the irresponsible behavior.

I think its a combination of things, I myself would
That consistently runs out of work, because I have nothing to fall back on. Maybe these ladies have a husband who can pick up the slack, so they are not so worried. Also its a pain in the butt to post your resume and start all over with a new company, new dictators, and not to mention you don't know what you're getting paid until youre actually signed on and let go from your other job. Whats up with that? Why don't they ever post the actual salary like other lines of work? They at least say "start out at 30,000k per year" or something similar. Its a big mystery what your paycheck will be and thats a nail biter in itself.
You will also sometimes find a combination...
There are accounts where you do the clinic notes (for office visits - H&Ps and consults) and also the acute care reports for that same doctor/doctors when they perform surgery or another in-hospital procedure. Then you'll have the operative report as well as the discharge summary. I love these accounts, as you follow the patient from initial diagnosis (sometimes after several office visits), through their hospital course, and then back to the office for followup.
As far as knowing what type of work a company has - ask. That is the best way to find out.
combination of 3 meds usually (sm)
Most hospitals have their own chemo cocktails for mouth sores but most consist of Mylanta/ Maalox, Benadryl and lidocaine or xylocaine anything to numb the soreness of the ulcers.
That's a great combination!
When using weights, even light ones, remember that technique is very important. Move the weights slowly with no momentum. Don't let wrists flop. They should be rigid and slightly curled in.
There may be a combination of both. I nearly flunked
typing in junior high and I can't believe I make my living typing. I know it is more than typing, but .... I had no MT training, no MT education, just kind of fell into it. My very first day I did 667 lines. I wasn't working in an office but in the MTSO's home office. I didn't have an Expander at the time. Now many years later (18) I can do 2700 lines/day on a good day, but 1800 to 2200 is my norm. My typing speed increased, plus my terminology has increased so I'm not looking up a lot of stuff. Between the 2 it has allowed me to increase my lines.
You really can't compare what you do to others because there are lots of factors. How they count lines, the difficulty of the dictation, the platform, etc.
How about a combination of both approaches? SM
I've been using an Expander almost as long as the first primitive little DOS-based one became available. So of course, with no Mary Morkens or anything else out there, I started out building my entire system from scratch to suit myself. And I definitely believe it works for me much better than an imported system could.
However, ultimately it took a tremendous investment of time, and it's the only one like it in the world. If I ever lost it, I might just leave the field and start selling plants from my garden on e-bay or something.
A lot of people who work in offices will some morning come in and be greeted by the information that they've been laid off and a security officer assigned to make sure they don't mess with the computer. Will they have a copy of their dictionary at home or lose everything?
Losing a dictionary built on a standard system, then personalized and built up further would be hard but not crippling. And as pointed out, no need to reinvent the wheel...totally from scratch anyway.
I'd say a combination of B and C. House may be miserable, but after
watching all House episodes, he does have a heart, albeit surrounded by iron, lock with no key.
No but sounds like a deadly combination. nm
This is the perfect combination for termites too. nm
Different combination shortcut keys that I don't want to
also incompatible with Stedman Smartype (Word 2003 made a change that conflicts with Smartype, not a Smartype issue). Earlier versions of Word do not have this conflict.
What if you brought on a combination MT/QA person, and - sm
you each transcribed, and then each checked the other's work? QA would go faster, more transcription could be done, and you'd sort of be killing 2 birds with one stone, while still being able to remain a small, high-quality service.
It has to be a combination of talent for this work and SM
platform/work count. I have the talent and my production initially was excellent but then my income kept going down, and dowm, without any discernible cause. The difference was in how production was being counted on the other side of the computer screen. Fine, if it's fair and we understand why, but we weren't being told even that the decreases were occurring, much less why. Someone the ability to put out good work but without that initial earnings experience might think it was only him or her.
What would be ideal is a combination of the ErgoMagic
keyboard that can be angled PLUS that touch pad. hmmmmm
I'll definitely post if I find one that works for me.
Have you ever had "hypocrit" pie, a combination of applie and custard. nm

Oh, I found it really creepy when you said you found the flowers not so skillfully arranged on your
steps, and from your own flower bed. That's what I was worried about, having gone thru some psycho kids myself with my pups. Someone's been in your yard and in your garden and at your door without your knowledge. Its just creepy to me, and I'd still be very, very careful. Especially valid sounded the other MTs warning you about potential fake molestation charges. You just NEVER know nowadays, and these people have already turned on you big time once. Luckily (though I don't believe in luck), you had it on film to save yourself and your puppy. You might not be that lucky next time, and the whole thing just sounds very unstable to me right now. I know you feel sorry for the little girl, but probably the only time I have ever made BAD decisions regarding my life is when I felt sorry for someone, particularly kids. My son even has an evil kid in his life, but one who has a million reasons for sympathy, and I was saying how we should "be bigger" than the situation and invite this kid over to play. Thankfully, I regained my sanity long enough to remember - ever time I have done something like that on a personal basis for someone just because I feel sorry for them AFTER horrible behavior, it has always been a disaster... Be kind, but you don't have to risk your family again. Be kind from a distance. Its sorry she went thru this horrible experience, but YOU didn't cause it, and its not really your problem. But it could be your problem if this kid acts out in your life. Know what I mean?
Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
RIGHT!!! Someone who works 16 hours and someone who works 60 will have a HUGE difference. NM

Thank you - I'm glad to see that there is sm
somebody here that's intelligent enough to tell the difference. I wasn't looking for advice. I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced anything similar.
I guess I should have known better than to post anything here.
Glad I'm not alone. sm
I always just try to consider the source. The sad part is that the people, whomever they may be, who makes these hateful posts on ALL boards are either 1) Trolls or 2) Very unhappy people.

I am glad I did NOT take the job with that office...sorry pay to boot...7 cpl.

I hate that you cried yourself to sleep all night. It's too much pain for anyone to bear, and I've been crying too. Your post reassured me that I'm not being overdramatic about feeling so compassion for our furry friends. My husband is getting tired of hearing me talk about the those poor dogs down there. I also want to drive there and get some of them. If I don't hear from Best Friends soon about being a foster parent to dogs belonging to the evacuees, I may just do that. (Best Friends says they will transport the pet(s) to you, no matter where you live). Time was of the essence for some of those dogs I saw on the news, and that was yesterday a.m.
Hope someone can get word to the little boy that his pet is located and safe - don't know how though. All I can think about is the little boy worrying about his pet. If he knew his little buddy was OK, he might have some comfort and lessen the pain.
I glad I could be of help!
I know that the decision to homeschool is a mammouth one and can almost be mind boggling! Try to fine a homeschool support group. The public library often knows of them and can direct you or sometimes churches will have large support groups. Call around. I am from Indiana and our state's homeschool office is called Indiana's Association of Home Educators. I know they can give you all the info you need if your from the Hoosier state!
