Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you wanted the fairy tale version of the truth.

In that case, it doesn't matter what school you choose because you'll always be able to get a job. Medical transcription is a bed of roses right now. Offshoring is just a myth and you can make at 25 cpl with any of the MTSOs out there. They are all completely reputable, always honest, and totally respect every MT that they have ever employed. Why, most MTSOs adhere to a strict policy of keeping their MTs happy and helping them be productive, they actually solicit their MTs opinions in an effort to better the profession and working conditions.
Now that you've had your little fantasy, maybe you can face reality! THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION INDUSTRY SUCKS RIGHT NOW. Unless you are an experienced MT who owns your own service or has your own accounts, you absolutely cannot earn a decent living. The only way to eek out a living as an employee or IC of a service, is to chain yourself to your PC and work 12 hours a day or more. Forget you have kids, forget you have a husband, forget that there is a world outside your front door. Just type, type, type until your fingers bleed and then, MAYBE you can pay your bills and buy groceries at the end of the month!
That is reality! That is the way it is and if you don't like it, tough! I'm not someone who sugar coats and coddles. I tell it like it is. Don't waste your money on an MT school. Look into medical coding. Becaise of the EMR, more and more facilities are letting their coders work from home. Not to mention that medical coding has a wonderful advocate in the AHIMA. You have the backing and protecion of a wonderful association that works toward elevating the coding profession and protecting salary ranges. AHIMA commands respect for the coders and the HIM professionals.

I'm sorry because I didn't realize until this thread that we can only enter ONE time. I entered a couple of contests over a couple of days. Sorry. Will up my reading comprehension for next year's MT Week.
Thanks again, MTStars, for making it a very special week for all of us!!!

Did you meet the criteria set for the bonus? If you did, seek a legal remedy.
If you didn't, go on about your business.
If you believe you are owed a bonus, and it is not paid when it is supposed to be paid, then they are in arrears to you.
I personally wouldn't give that company a 2nd opportunity to fail to pay. I would quit and seek legal counsel.
Good luck.
sorry, didn't realize there was a time limit. I
personally just read some of the posts.
I didn't realize that until I read the EULA
the other day after talking about this. I've never had 2 computers, so I had no idea. I took it off and bought a new one for the 2nd computer. Thanks for the info.
didn't realize this video was 10 years ago
I also saw a video of Hunter Hays when he was older, and I thought it was so weird that there were two boys with the same name that both played accordian. I missed the part on the younger version that said it was an old video... still almost too cute to be true.
These sites look great, didn't realize how complicated.
Sorry, I got cut off and didn't realize it. I was told it was more of a way to get the work back
I was told it was more of a way to get the work back and forth. Does it actually affect the line counts?

I didn't say I wanted to leave my job.
You need to learn to read before you jump on people without knowing the facts, my dear.
She just didn't feel like she wanted to pay for the services...sm
She said that there was a lot of dictation missing and she had to retype the reports. I listened to the voice file over 3 times, along with the transcription, and there was no dictation omitted. She complained that this happened several times, but I listened to each file over and over and didn't see where the dictation was missing. I think she just doesn't want to pay and it's really sad! It's such a hassle trying to go through this, but I do want my money. It's more the principle than anything else.
Uh, no.... evil is evil. Who's version of the truth are you talking about?
yours, mine, hers, theirs, WHO????
Here's the True Side of This Sad Tale
Do not believe this person's post. I'm the so called "business" this person is referring to.
Hey Just Me, guess who! I still come to the boards. And I had a feeling you might do something like this.
To set the record straight -- mentally unstable? I shared some sad occurrences from my past after you asked me if I knew of any good self-help info for you, as you are in therapy and on various psych meds and having a hard time. Even after talking all that over with you I still trusted you to take on the project. A leap of faith. Kind of a reverse of what you're stating here.
As far as work, I have run a very successful service for 12+ years. You sent me an email looking for work last week. I called you last Sunday with work. You took a project that you said you'd have done on Tuesday, which you never sent me, yet you insist you have completed it. I then contacted you Tuesday afternoon with a rush project and asked if you could stop that first project and work on a new one we just got in.
You agreed. I said the deadline was Thursday night. You said no problem. I emailed you Thursday a.m. to see how you were doing and you said you were almost done. By Thursday night you had sent me nothing. By then I had to extend the deadline with my client. Later on Friday p.m. you sent a really substandard 9 pages of transcription. It took me 2 hours to fix. You had received 3 samples and instructions and yet did not use the template that was forwarded to you. At this point I told you to stop the project (your 9 pages was only one-fourth of the whole) because I couldn't trust you were able to complete it.
It was after that email you replied you were glad to be "off the job" and that you felt you wanted to share a "secret," that you had some unstableness with some common diagnoses related to mental health issues. However, at that point it was over. Yet, I do admit that after doing your work uncompleted work by Sunday morning I did email you just to let you know how distressed I felt having to still be finishing up the work you promised to finish which came to about 12-15hours of typing for me and how it put all other work behind because you bailed on me.
Of course after I had to lie to the client and said I overestimated the project, blah, blah, and please give me a few days. Ethical service owners don't blame the people the hire to work for them, they have to take the rap and embarassment from the customer all on their own.
I also did advise you to not tell any serivice you ever work for again that were getting the work done when in fact you had not. If you intrepret that as me calling you a liar, that's totally your perception--and you calling yourself a name, not me. You should have let me know ASAP when you weren't going to have it done at least by Wednesday. It took you 3 days to transcribe 45 minutes of recording.
Then finally, my dear, it was you who then replied to my email ranting with threats to call the BBB, sue for libel, slander, and whatever else. I at that point explained how you monkeyed up the week, why I was upset with you and dropped it at that. I immediately paid you for that substandard work immediately through Paypal. No one has to threaten me to pay ICs that work with me. And you also never did send the other first project you said was partially worked on so I have doubt it was as completed as you say it was.
By your post here I sense your guilt and animosity because of you not completing the assignment and not happy that I was displeased with your work ethic. And also, about your other fib here, my dear, I have far better things to do with my time than to call any past employer about any MT that has ever worked for me to bash them. That's a flat out untruth. What sense would that make!
I would suggest if you still have more to say to the "service" that you apparently feel so victimized by that you contact them directly and not try to gain false sympathy here and bash yet another small transcription service. We're kind of the bread and butter businesses that get lots of transcription work and hired lots of ICs to work with us.
This is my 2 cents. Don't believe everything you read unless you hear both sides! (any good MTs looking for on call work are more than welcome to email me their resume!)
The truth will set you free and the truth is more low level income people w/o education or proper
skills to keep up their home or train their children live in trailer homes and low income housing. If that sets you off, maybe you should not visit these threads or read the posts regarding others viewpoints on trailer parks. They have zoning laws against them in many communities because they draw undesirable people are not particularly pleasing to the community as a whole, bringing property values down. If you have issues with this, seek out the government in various communities and have them change the laws. Fact is fact and you cannot dispute these facts.
The truth stings sometimes and I congratulate MTStars for having the kahoonas to post truth.
Tired of being lied to. I'm a big girl and can handle the truth. Why can't you?
Transcription Fairy
I just want the Transcription Fairy to bring me a good Ortho clinic transcription job and soon. This testing is more stress than I need in my life these days. Everyone wants acute care.
Transcription Fairy
Does the transcription fairy exist? I would really love a new job. Hate my current company.
Opened a can of worms, eh? Truth hurts, but it is TRUTH!
8 cpl is about the top out in the US MT industry. If you're making more consider yourself lucky because it just might be snatched away from you at any moment. For the 14 cent per liner, good for you! You went out and got your own accounts. Others should follow your example. As far as the "stupid" MT comment, keep in mind that she was not consistent and **often** had one excuse after another not to work, yet I could see her online and when I would ask her why she was online she would give VERY lame excuses. Also, keep in mind that I also was the one who helped this gal out monetarily to begin with and she took advantage of my generosity. Don't make me out to be the bad gal here just because I own a service. The shoe could easily be on your foot.
So, NEWS FLASH, if you have an MT position that is paying more than 8 cpl, consider it a real blessing and pray that your job isn't outsourced offshore.

good, clear dictators, easy work, good work flow, interesting work (nothing boring now), a good attitude, excellent focus as my mind is wandering tonight, no mistakes, 200 lines per hour, no distractions or interruptions, motivations to reach my goal, etc, etc, etc.
As you can see, finding it hard to work tonight. Feel free to add to the list. I wish the transcrition fairy really existed, don't you?
I tried Relacor, it didn't work because I wanted it to work without
my trying to really lose weight, i.e., dieting.
My true belief is that any product will not work unless you TRY yourself. I had 20+ lb loss with Metabolife (sp?) and really felt more energy.
BUT, I truly believe if I don't really try, nothing will work to make me lose weight. Please know, I'm right there with you and wish there were a magic pill that could make the lbs just shed away.
New. Wanted to put in a better card to support a game my 17yo DD wanted to play.

You don't have to believe, the truth is the truth. I, too, have seen with my own two eyes and ha
years experience as an MT. I say misfortune because MTs with this much experience usually have gigantic egos and feel like they've "seen it all and done it all." They simply don't make mistakes. Not possible, no way. This particular MT became irate with me. She actually threw her 20+ years experience in my face and said "I've been doing this for over 20 years, I think I know what I'm doing!" It was painfully obvious, she did not have a clue. She'd been doing it wrong for 20 years and no one ever told her, so she thought she was right.
I had another MT with 10 years experience call me to scream at me and hung up on me when I tried to explain her errors to her.
The plain truth is, some people can't take criticism whether it be constructive or destructive. They don't like to be wrong or be told their wrong. Egos get in the way. We are all guilty of letting our egos get in the way from time to time, but in this field, you need to be willing to admit you're wrong and you need to be able to accept criticism gracefully and give criticism diplomatically.
As an editor, I encourage MTs to let me know if they disagree with any corrections I've made. I am happy to provide MTs with my reference materials and resources. I am happy to admit when I am wrong and I am happy to say that I make mistakes too. Just don't try to tell me that an MT with 16 years experience can't possibly be making terminology mistakes - she can and probably has in the past and will again in the future.
This is why I uploaded the 4.15 version. It's a previous version

Works is a dumbed down version of Word and Excel. You get the full version of Word in the Suite.
The Works Suite is a cheaper way of getting a full version of Word if you don't want or need the other applications in Office.
wanted to try it but wanted to make sure

If it's a retail version you can. If it's an OEM version, you can't.

Well of course we know that now. Back then we didn't because he didn't allow unfettered access.

right we children didn't tattle to the administrator did we. BTW, didn't you think we were
because some half-witted idiot said everyone was jealous because some other anonymous poster said they were going to be a doctor. Didn't they call it doctor envy. Oh yeah, that was all about you wasn't it busy-body MT. You with your degree and premed but yet you still post here and acuse others of jealously. I dunno but you and dano seem so close, I can't put my finger on it but I would say you could be computer clones. Jealous indeed. Children indeed. I think you are blowing your covers) dano and busy body MT. This whole "jealously" thing makes me think that you may be one and the same poster.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm

Yes, I realize
that especially consults are often dictated in letter form... just something you have to get used to if you are doing the big 4. I was referring to clinics who send out little notes to referring MDs, family members, insurance companies, patient jobs, etc., not hospital notes.
Yes you did, but you must realize that...
just because you couldn't/didn't succeed doesn't mean others won't do well. As someone else in this thread mentioned, if you couldn't handle indepedent study, you most likely could never handle working independently as an MT. So, in your case, it's probably a blessing that you couldn't cut the program.
You do realize, do you not, that
this is just a story made up by TV writers? These are not real people. You do know that, don't you? None of it really matters. It's just a STORY.
I realize that
Of course I am blessed. I am blessed to do a job that I love as well! However, I just feel taken advantage of without a raise in five years... I guess I just never understood that. I've never had a "real" job so I guess I'll learn to deal with it.
I realize that..
Yes, they are busy people but come on now, when I cannot understand an allergy because my dictator is smacking through it and does not repeat it, I get a little irritated, especially when she does it almost daily. I just needed to vent this evening.
I'm sure you don't realize how....
insulting it is to those of us who have spent many, many years learning to be an MT when people ask us if they could do it so they can stay home with the kids or maybe earn some extra money. It's like someone asking if it would work for them to be an engineer because they like to look at pretty buildings. For some reason, people who have never done this seem to think all you have to do is sit down and type. As the "nice" poster said, it takes years of training and many more skills than being a fast typist. Most of us are just a little touchy about that attitude that anyone can do it. Even though that my not be your opinion, it came across that way in your question.
I realize this is going nowhere, but saying thanks
for a gift and throwing it away is not being thankful for the gift. Obviously if you were truly thankful for the gift, you wouldn't throw it away. I believe you would only throw a gift away if you felt it was a bad gift, which was the OPs contention in the first place.
Your mother is 100% right in saying you should be grateful for the things you have and receive, but there really is such a thing as a poor choice for a gift.
At least some people realize what they are and SM
don't have to hide behind some facade just to please inferior people.
Superiority is a threat to mediocrity.
Just because someone is not a sheep and does not follow the crowd makes some sheep nervous!
aww...your makin me cry...i realize that tho..
and i thank god everyday that he gave me the gift to type and work hard to be able to be home with them...instead of them being off in some daycare 40+ hours a week...i take it back...
My DH is starting to realize that I just....(sm)
might not stick around for much more of his stuff. I know that won't change him though. I just know it...
Hopefully docs will realize
that their time is better spent seeing more patients than doing data entry..glad that your docs realized this. I had one lone hold-out who refuses to do the clerical entry... but doesn't dictate either... still writes ShortHand notes in charts....Ugh!
Sorry - did not realize I was not allowed to do that. Really, sorry..nm
