I am new to MT, just under a year of work, so maybe that is the reason for the HUGE difference here but this is depressing! I have been working for one company for 9 months and make 5cpl as an IC. The QA is basically nonexistent and I get little to no feedback, which is bad for me because I want to get the feedback so I can improve when/where needed. Also there are two account managers that cannot seem to decide what they want from me. One tells me to do the account a certain way then the second will yell at me for doing so. I am about an inch from quiting.
I recently accepted a new job with another company doing Escription and will be starting next week. I had to get new software for my computer first. They are going to pay me 6.5 cpl for transcription and 2 cpl for editing as an IC. Better than what I currently have, but still much lower than what I am seeing here. I'm willing to work for less because obviously I am not worth as much as those with all the experience, but sometimes it is discouraging to see just HOW much of a difference it is. Hopefully one day I'll be making enough to pay the bills, but for now it is just a little extra on top of what my husband is bringing home.
