The money just was not there for cars AND their hobbies, which were expensive ones. DD's horse cost more than any car I ever had (till my recent new Explorer). DS had a sprint car that was expensive too. They loved their hobbies enough to go without a car to get to race/horse show.
But yes, if I'd been rich, they'd have each had a new car.

Talk with a professional. This can be worked through if he really puts forth the effort and you participate. The right counseling can truly make your marriage even better than it was before, if BOTH parties are willing to be honest. Give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain!

Easy and cute. Just wad up a tissue in a ball for a head and put it in another tissue. Tie a piece of string or yarn under the "head" that is long enough to hang from something and then just use a marker to dot on some eyes and a mouth. I would always use black and orange yarn.
My kids always loved to make them and we'd hang them up off plants, doorknobs, etc., or just run a string and hang them on the string. Simple and very cheap.
Have fun! I only wish my kids were still young enough. Oh well, the grandkids will be in a few more years.

You'll get a lot of negative feedback on this board. I, however, am making 8.75 cpl doing straight typing and am enjoying the heck out of it.
As to your actual question of how to get into the field, frankly right now is a tough time to do it. I think the MTSO's who are hiring are getting inundated with resumes. Having said that, however, make sure your resume really emphasizes the transcription experience and what you are doing to bring it up to date. Then just send it to every MTSO that you can think of. The job seeker's board here is good, mtjobs.com is a good one, and I think there's another one that I don't know right off the top of my head.
It may take a while and you may send your resume out 100 times, but you'll hit that one where a real person looks at it and thinks that you're worth taking a chance with.

You clearly stated in your post that you ship the kids off to camp all day, and they're TIRED AT NIGHT!! You know exactly what you said. You said it as a PERK - AS IN GREAT! They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed! You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT. Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you. Why have kids at all? Just another parent who has them, gets rid of them for day AND night, BRAGS ABOUT IT, and then calls ME wicked! Give me a break! Camp is fine - its WHAT YOU SAID AND YOU KNOW IT. When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.
I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.
So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.
Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.
I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.

I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated. Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie. :-)
But, as someone pointed out, to each his own. If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that. I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."

i have been through some rough times lately and had to apply for some help. there are signs, big signs, all over our offices saying "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LEGAL TO GET HELP". so we and our government do give them our benefits whether they are legal here or not. now that is messed up. i am helping to support them so they can take away my jobs and i can't even support my kids and yes i get benefits, wow $75 a month in food stamps which lasts not even a week in a household of 6. don't get me wrong, i am thankful for any help at the moment, but i get penalized for trying to work my tail off and still can't survive.
there was recently an article in our local newspaper where one of our local school districts tried to charge $1000 a year for each illegal student enrolled. it was bulked and the illegals got a lawyer to sue for discrimination. the school district merely stated that they had to HIRE extra teachers that could speak the foreign language just to teach these children and were trying to offset some of the expenses. ridicilous!! so again our taxpayers money is paying to educate illegals as well.

I would be willing to bet the majority of people posting negativity about MQ have been fired by them! I've been with MQ for over four years and am very, very happy. My check is always on time, sometimes early, I always have work, my coordinator is great, I can't say enough good about them. I would recommend you at least give MQ a chance. I admit, I was disappointed when they called me, but at the time, I just needed a job, so reluctantly I accepted their offer. Now four years later, I'm so glad I did. Everyone has their own opinion and experience about each company, and the same is with MQ. Not everyone will be happy there, but I certainly am. Good luck to ya!

If you allow yourself to fall into that pit of self destructiveness by playing 4th grade _the teacher hates me/likes me more than you_ routine, you only do yourself harm. Ask yourself...by having the information that someone is _getting away_ with something you can't, how can you _win_? You win by your superior skills. You learn and you thrive and if you need to, you move on. In the meantime, you learn things that you should have taught yourself as the proper way to transcribe 15+ years ago.

There are several. Most of them are made by
Infinity, but can be wired to work with various systems, so just because it is Infinity doesn't mean it will work with one particular system. If you don't already have a job that requires a pedal I would wait until you do. Some pedals are configured to work with proprietary software and are only good for one program. Some companies require serial port pedals, some game port, and some USB. You can get adapters to switch them, though they aren't always easy to find.

Yes, I have made the changes you outlined. Unfortunately, stuff like wthi and placentia have gone right on through. I work with Instant Text and the Expander will not run at the same time as Instant Text. Even if I turn the expander on, the first time I use the IT, the expander shuts off. Thanks for the suggestions!

YES!! I made $15/hr at my first MT job...
and that was with excellent benefits back in 2001. I live in the midwest where the cost of living is very reasonable too. So, $12/hr for an experienced MT is awful! I only had experience as a medical assistant before becoming an MT and made more than that.

I think Brad and Jennifer spent too much time apart. And he does have a history of falling in love with his co-stars - Gwyneth and Juliette to name two.

With hard work and encouragement, the helping hand from the government helped produce productive citizens. You had the advantage at least of an intact family. Think of a poor baby born to an uneduated teenager mother with no father. Without a lot of hard work and self determination, no amount of money from the govt. is going to end that vicious cycle.

Where do you work? I worked my fanny off, produced 10,000 lines per pay period and got only $800 per pay period, for about $16,000 a year since we do not get paid vacation. IT STINKS

You may have already seen these, if not they are rather cute.
Purchase some plastic (deli type) disposable gloves. These are made to touch food, etc. Put a candy corn in fingertips (for fingernails) stuff rest with popcorn. Tie top with colored black/orange ribbon, and put plastic spider rings (found everywhere at halloween) on top of glove after they are stuffed. These are really kinda cute.
In OR I made $16.50/hr, in NE I was offered $11.30.
