I applied at Edix in 1999. While on phone interview, was submitted a verbal quiz. I was so taken by surprise that my mind went completely blank. Not to mention I had been out of MT for several years. So, as I was told I had failed the test, I said that I would brush up on my skills and reapply - the response: "Don't bother" and he hung up the phone. Four years later, was hired by Spheris and went on to work for them for four years.
Do not let this discourage you. At times, in this business, rather than say "you appear to be unable to grasp the account," management takes the cowardly way out and sets one up to fail.
All that I can say is I am sorry that this has happened to you. In this era, with the economy as it is, having this happen to you is just cruel.
I sincerely hope you are able to go on to another job and enjoy the work in this field.
There are good companies out there who will work with MTs, place them into positions which fit their qualifications and mentor them. Good luck.
