Not everyone wants to live in your depressed little world.

There are more fun things to think about. Unfortunately, all the things you mentioned will NEVER go away. Does not do much good to worry about them.

Great post and i agree 100%. As a former depressed person myself, ,I learned that the most depressed
people are self-centered whether they want to admit or not. I stayed in my cave and only talked about me and my problems and I was severely depressed (runs in family)
After I found God and started attending church regularly, I have completely changed and am off medications. I also give lovingly now to my husband, children, family, and friends and have recently taken over teaching a large woman's Bible study class locally and have never experienced such joy, peace, and happiness in my life.
It wasn't until I began taking my eyes off of me and started looking around at others in more desparate situations that I began to learn the true meaning of life.
Great post. I, too, think fasting is a life-changing exp. When I fasted from food for the first time (I am very overweight :) it was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. There's just something about withholding something that you truly desire or want - it's like putting out flames to a destructive fire within you and it feels GREAT!!!!
Where in the world do you live??
so no chili for me!  A cool gallon of homemade ice cream would suite me just fine!
where in the world do you live? sm
I haven't heard of any wages that high in that area. Am curious.
? on this ungodly hot summer day, if you could live (and die) anywhere in the world, where would you
choose?  Just one choice please and assume it's your very last move in your lifetime so choose carefully.
You live in a dream world if you think that MTSOs are making money hand over fist. Overhead? Add i
Banks charge about $200 a month for a business account plus .10 for every check deposited and written.

Ten people in an office? At $30k a year, that's $300,000 per year IF you can get them to work for only $30k. Add in 2 editors, an IS consultant, an accountant, a lawyer, rent on office space, checks, stamps for checks, software upgrades, phone lines, equipment for MTs, equipment for office staff, lightbulbs, toilet paper, a copier, a printer, paper, ink, pens, pencils, long distance charges to call MTs and customers, recruiting ad costs, taxes, benefits because most MTs are employees now because the IRS says most should be classified that way, high-speed internet, internet service provider because hotmail and yahoo are free but not professional, email encryption, fax machine, fax phone line, staplers, staples, paper clips, file folders, file cabinets, etc etc etc.

I am not whining. I am just stating facts. Add that to the headache of juggling schedules based on unpredictable workload due to unpredictable amount of people needing medical attention, the headache of billing clients who pay when they want regardless of what your terms are, covering for people who get sick or need time off, and it is not an easy thing to do. I am lucky that I am a workaholic and love what I do. Am I rich? No. Will being an MTSO make me rich? Probably not. Do I make more than I did as an MT? Yes, but at a higher price.

Don't judge until you walk in someone's shoes. I bought a new vehicle this year, a 2005 Ford Taurus, trading in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and actually had comments made about how it must be nice to be able to buy a new car.
Depressed? sm
Write it all down. Then, when he calls, you can start rattling off the numbers to him. More than likely, he is feeling a bit guilty for not being there. Yes, we all know that he is doing what is probably the most important job in this world, but to him, he may not feel that he is fulfilling his duties to his family.

Ride with it, hon. Give him the numbers and he'll feel better.........and so will you.
depressed sometimes too
Just focus on good points in your life now, and things that made you feel good, like having that unconditional love, even though it was awhile ago, you still had it.  Even little things you come across every day like someone making small talk with you in line, or a compliment, or seeing your dog wag his tail or seeing an interesting shaped cloud, making someone laugh.  Not trying to sound hokey, but its true.  Theres ugly people who will use you and walk all over you in this world, crime, evilness, but if you make it a point to focus on the good and innocent, the bad won't go as deep, and you can bounce back.  Its like retraining the brain.  Life is pretty much neutral, but its our perspective that makes it evil or awesome.
Depressed sm

I'll keep you and your husband in my prayers.  I can definitely relate to your situation.

In 1999, after having a very difficult pregnancy, being on bed rest and not being able to work, we ended up losing our house, filing bankruptcy and having my car repossessed.  My husband was self-employed also at the time.  I was deeply depressed.

With time and prayer, things do get better.  There is hope for you.  I know it's hard to see that now, but there is hope.  Don't give up.

Have you tried talking to your mortgage company or other creditors?  Maybe they can work something out with you.  I wish I would have tried a little harder to work things out with our creditors.  I just practically gave up which is the wrong thing to do.

Things are a lot better for us now.  We're purchasing a new home (better than the one we lost) and have a new vehicle.  Things will get better for you, too.

He is depressed. He does need help.
xx
Boyfriend who is depressed.
A great therapist I used to work for would tell folks in your situation, that you ARE not trained in counseling, therefore, you can not help him in the way he needs. It's just not your job so to speak. Go easy on yourself, it sounds like you have been very supportive, you now just need to decide how long your willing to do so.
I am just sooo depressed

Hello!! I am a newbie, stay-at-home military wife and my husband is the only one working for now. He is deployed right now and I am managing all the finances, since we have separate accounts, I transferred$1000 in my account which made him mad. It felt like I overspent and use the money for nothing. Money that I didn't even spent shopping!!! He knows where the money goes but he still questions me about every single penny I spent and I really felt so bad.

Thank you guys for reading my post. I just felt like sharing this with you. I just need someone to talk to.

Hi, I am here. I was just too depressed today
I also was dumped a whole lot of work today. I just didnt want to cry in your ear. I will call tomorrow around lunch time if that is okay.

:) Thanks for thinking of me.

I almost didnt see this post. Too depressed to read. It caught my eye.
depressed as hell
Lost my in-house job...outsourcing...trying to find something at home. It's really rough....
depressed as hell
thanks...will do...
You sure you're not depressed? (nm)

How lucky, you only got depressed; (sm)
my girlfriend lived through the well-known FDA "black box" reaction -- the one where the antidepressant makes the patient agitated and exceptionally suicidal? Her shrink doubled her dose, then went on vacation with no back-up coverage available. Fortunately she knew what was going on and called her friends for help after she kept feeling the urge to hang herself or run out in traffic; we sat with her in 4-hour shifts, distracted her, and kept getting her to drink and pee in hopes of flushing the junk out. Finally, after 8 days, she could sleep again and felt better. Next time she gets depressed, she says she's going to do mushrooms as they're much safer.
one question for depressed
How do you pay for your internet connection?
Oh Lord, I'd be depressed again too! :D nm
.......
Things are on the upswing, but have been depressed.
Gas prices soaring again, tens of thousands of people being laid off, plus the war and the hurricanes have certainly taken a bite of out a lot of budgets, not to mention increasing interest rates.  While the economy seems to be doing better, we are still walking a very fine line.   All you have to do is watch the news now to hear about how spending is down from last holiday season, that people are very cautious about buying big ticket items, the car manufactures are laying off 30,000+ people.   Doesn't hardly sound like a booming economy to me.
Sounds like you are depressed....Nothing to be ashamed about.
I recommend you talk to your physician and maybe get in some therapy sessions, not necessarily medication, but get to the root of how you can assess where you are overwhelmed and what steps you can take to take control. This site is actually a great site, on occasion you will find some nastiness, but overall there are some wonderful women who are very supportive in situations like these.

I was diagnosed last year with depression and anxiety and although I was on meds, I think the therapy was major reason for my successful outcome. I learned why my life is so unorganized and stressful and I learned some very helpful tools to use on a dialy basis when confronted with these issues.

One thing I found to be helpful for myself is I started to take my shower before I started work, even put on makeup. It really does change how you feel about yourself. I recommend you start there.

Good Luck!
Yep, had a distant relative going through some depressed times and did just that

Unfortunately, NO. Didn't help me. It made me depressed. Reverse effect. nm

why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion.  lovely trees and lakes all around.  maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall.  but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution.  That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks.  Population is dense and near manufacturing.  So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend.  There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others.  Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas.  You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas?  They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution.  I don't know.  I didn't stay long enough to test the theory.  My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
Live and let live. Don't force your lifestyle on me.

I used to live in MN now I live in MS and they were both cold last night!
Will take MS cold over MN cold any day, and I don't miss the snow. I miss the Mall of America, though!
I live in PA, can I help? If they are close to where I live, I would go check them out for ya!
Where in PA is this company?
You must live where I live. I ran into the same sort of SM
situation when I was the president-elect of the local chapter and the VP-elect of the state chapter. I bailed out. There was no fighting it.
LOL! Don't live in NH. Live in ConnectiTAX. LOL NM

Can you live on 7.75 cpl or do you need 9.5 cpl. If I could live at the lower, that is what I

Each state has different laws. Where I live, if I have clients in the same state I live in, yes I ne
have clients from another state, no I do not need a license. Every state is different. I checked with my attorney and the State Business offices.
mt-world
Is MT-WORLD, the same company as ATSI? I'm confused...dk
How in the WORLD is this possible?
you must have absolutely wonderful account(s) with tons of canned text!

Welcome to my world...
This explains my summer exactly. My kids have never argued so much. I have three boys and two girls. The girls are the oldest and have been fighting almost daily. We got to the point where we forced them to sit together and hold hands in silence for a certain period of time because we knew they'd hate that at the age of 10 and 9. It actually did work. They don't fight as much as they did a few weeks ago, and when I threaten them with holding hands they stop.

C.C.
How in the world do you do that?
I work 2 part-time positions and feel pretty stretched most of the time. I cannot imagine doing 2 full-time positions.

Congratulations!
What in the world?
What happened to your face? I've never seen anything like it. Did someone fart on it or did you have a really bad accident? Wow, it is unbelievable to me how ugly some people in this world are. What in the heck!
WONDER WHY THE WORLD IS LIKE IT IS?
NM
How in the world did AT&T
If I were you I would insist on talking to some higher ups at AT&T. Unlimited long distance is exactly that.
and the world is all about ego. Never, never
tell your boss something is wrong, even with one of their choice (or not so choice) picks of supervisors, because then you are telling them may have made a mistake in the person they selected, and that is also a blow to their ego.
then how in the WORLD
do you think he's going to know what the patient's problem is next time he/she comes in for followup if he DOESN'T READ THE DANG TRANSCRIPT????  Ask the receptionist maybe?  Geeshhh!
I have the best job in the world
Have worked hourly for the past decade. Love it. Now at around 30/hr with 9 weeks paid vacation a year. Would not trade it for anything. Nice getting paid when work is slow or when you have "off" days.
It is a whole new world
There are so many more words and medications to deal with but you should pick it up quick, just like any other field. A lot depends on what particular field you are working in. (Breast, heme-malignancies, thoracic, GI, Gu....) If you want I will send you some sites I used when starting and still use.
It is a new world
I agree that oncology is a new world, but it is very interesting and I just love when I have oncolgoy work. The hardest part for me was the radiation drugs, but I have a good website for those. It was about a month before I felt in the zone. :)
Best in the world???
I know that we would all like to believe that, but it gets tougher and tougher all the time. I just did a quick search, as I knew that either last night or the night before I had heard or read about our ranking among the 191 or 193 countries included in the WHO ranking. The results I came across put us 37th back in 2000, and that number fell from the 1997 ranking of 24th (I believe it was).

I don't know about you, but I do not consider 37th place the best, nor do I consider best to be a country where a woman dies on the ER floor while a janitor mops around her and both her boyfriend and another person in the ER have to call 911 -- Imagine, having to call 911 from the ER . . . pitiful.

How in the world

do you manage to do so much? Any suggestions appreciated. I am struggling to reach 1000 per day. Also, about how many hours did it take to achieve this? Thanks!

HOW IN THE WORLD?
Does a grown woman swallow two loop earrings?  Yep.  Did reports on a woman (whom I know as I live in a small community) who swallowed two loop earrings and had to have EGD to retrieve them!  I have typed plenty of swallowed foreign body reports on children but a grown educated woman?
Maybe not end of world, but....
a significant dent in paycheck if you are paid production.

Just like you, I did the typewriter/correction tape thing. I typed about 50 radiology reports/day back then, and that was considered very high. I was paid hourly, working on-site, had benefits and all that, so it didn't matter if I typed 50 or 10 reports, I got paid the same.

Most of us are now paid production. With word Expanders and spell check, my current average is 125-150 radiology reports/day depending on which one of my accounts I work the most on. As another poster said, when you are typing 90 mph you make typos. If I am paid production, I will not take the time to look up spelling via Google, a dictionary, or whatever or sit here and read over every report I type when there are programs available to do that for you. Time is money when you are on production pay. Our pay has gone down over the years, and keeping production up is the only way to compensate. Without spell check or word expanders, speed slows significantly down as you proof read and double check each report, therefore the paycheck takes a hit.

To say we are 'spoiled' I think is the wrong term. I for one am grateful! Those tools are what we need to make a survivable wage in 2008. In typewriter days, we weren't paying $3+ for gas and oil. A gallon of milk was not $4. It's all relative.

To the OP, there is no way I would take a job without Word Expanders AND a spell check unless it was hourly pay. If they do not provide you with them, see if they will allow you to install your own personal copy. You will offset the cost of that software within a month if you are paid production and you can deduct it on your tax return.

What in the world?

Come on people.  You actually believe this?

Welcome to MT world
This has been going on for as long as I have been doing this, 10 years now. What is really annoying is when you get some dictators that are consistent, and you get them down pat, they will vanish off the face of the earth. You could try ESR (speech recognition)editing, but it pays real low, and it is very very tedious work, very boring. I can say, I will quit this business all together before I get stuck doing that all day long, which might come sooner than later. Good luck!!
