no, it is not under construction - just went there..sm

Construction
The things that you can do to earn money is limited only by your creativity in thinking of them. Who would have thought that people with a dog poop cleaning route would earn money? There are husband and wife teams cleaning/painting apartment buildings, doing window washing, doing acid staining of concrete, refinishing bathtubs and tile, spraying Kool deck coatings around pool areas, and if you or your husband is a woodworker, those CNC (computer numerically controlled) routers like ShopBot can enable you to do incredible things from making computer-cut out cabinets to copying pictures in 3-D for sale. (No, I don't work for ShopBot; I have been to several seminars with husband who has one in the high school shop where he teaches.)
go and be a man, find a man's job, construction,
Do you wear women's clothing as well? I bet you're decked out on grandma's stockings as we speak.
The construction workers are not all
People in the construction business do require certain licenses. They are not all uneducated making $30.00 an hour.
New MTs should be on this board so they can get a reality check. If you plan to stay in this field, just be cautioned that will not make more unless you transcribe more lines and put in more hours. That's the bottom line and I'm speaking from 20 years of experience and I'm in my late 30s still raising two children along with my husband.
OK. Now there are construction guys out front
using a big saw to cut through our new concrete sidewalks that have already been dug up twice since being put in this spring. I can't hear to work. They didn't even warn us of any construction or water shutoffs. How many times do they have to dig up the same old spot this year before they get it right?
But how many female construction workers??

Okay shopping for a house and I found new construction.
The name of the street is Wild Turkey Walk. I refuse to buy a house on Wild Turkey Walk. Another street is Squirrel Run. How does a person come up with these names? I want the job of naming streets in new subdivisions. Has anyone been shopping for houses, new or old, and refused to live on a silly named street?
a friend bought a new construction home
before they had even surveyed the land, etc., so they had no idea what any name was only lot numbers. when she found out her street name would be "ennis way" she tried to move to another lot but there was nothing open. I didn't get it until she pointed out how close it sounds to the male body part. i laugh every time i go over there.
Any way to avoid it?
My parents both lost hearing with age and I have seen how isolating it is.
Is there any way to avoid that with this job? I try to keep my volume down, but they way the dictators speak, I can't help but crank the volume quite a bit.
Did enough rock & roll blasting when I was young!
Any ideas?
Here's one to avoid -
My BF picked this up to try it for his laptop. It worked great for the first few days (long enough to get past the 'money back' offer), and then it suddenly began disconnecting him up to 12 to 15 times in a 4 hour period. I'm not sure about the legalities of using these types of devices to transcribe medical reports so I never tried it, but he said it was one of the most frustrating internet situations he'd ever been through.
If you've got Cricket stations in your area and they're offering their "unlimited" broad-band service for $40/month, I'd suggest applying that $40 toward a reliable service.

It can be fun if you avoid the aggravation which I try to do - sm
Yes, it does bring out the worst in people...we got up to get ice cream after my 5 & 7 y/o had finished their lunch, left out drinks and my 1 bag purchase on the table, came back after maybe 5 minutes to find 2 ladies had helped themselves to our table, I was pretty pissed, but just gathered up our stuff (only 2 seats left for 3 people) and said we needed to find a place to sit, neither lady batted an eyelid or said a word. Kids asked why we didn't stay, I said I feared I wouldn't be too polite if we had stuck around since I was ticked. So we sat at the steps of the little stage area in the food court area and they had their ice cream that way. So that was the only wrinkle in the day basically. Kids had fun, we never dealt anything too horrendous, and I got a couple things accomplished without having to deal with the hardcore nut cases.
avoid refunds
Why would you want a refund? If you're getting a refund that just means you overpaid your taxes the previous year; in effect you gave the government an interest-free loan of YOUR MONEY.
Ideally you should set up your withholding so that you end up having to pay some extra taxes when you file your return (but not so much as to trigger a penalty). That way you get to hold on to your money as long as possible and can at least earn some interest by keeping it in a CD or money market account.
Do not avoid them. They are willing to work with you
because they want you to make your payment.
Read all the letters they send you some mortgage companies will point you in the right direction like using a third party to help you get caught up.
I never thought I would get hit with foreclosure but it happened to me and luckily as the poster below, my family was able to bail me out.
I still owe my family thousands because they tacked legal fees on top of what I owed and the mortgage company not only wanted what was late but also two month's mortgage in advance all in one lump sum!
Good luck...
Just want to avoid the same mistake...nm

None. I try to avoid caffeine.

Yes, have done my own...avoid going to docs where I know...sm
the MT. I would not want anyone I know doing mine.
I would like to know to, so I can avoid applying
there. 3 cpl is awful.
I do have kids. They can have pop and chips, but I try to avoid it.
And Iecture them on the value of healthy food. LOL My diet used to be horrible until it caught up with me with my last pregnancy. I was frequently hypoglycemic and had high blood sugar. Then I had two irregular EKGs before a surgery. I've basically been scared into becoming healthier.
I definitely think its best to avoid relatives this year.
I'll join you for a toast on Thanksgiving? The idea of being alone during the holidays still sucks, but its a change from the strain of being with relatives, and a first. Might be kinda nice I guess.
Avoid Focus Infomatics!
I worked for Focus for a couple of months, and I absolutely hated it! They offshore their QA and tech support to India, and you can never understand a work they are saying when they call you to train you on their software, which is the worst program that I have ever transcribed in. It was always freezing up, losing connection to the VPN, and it cost me so much money because I kept losing work that I had done. Their tech support would take forever to respond when I IM'd them, and they were hardly ever very helpful at all. It is also true that they deduct pay for mistakes. I now work full-time for Cymed, and I am so much happier!
The only way I've found to avoid this is to.....
have three part-time jobs. I used to have one full time and two part time, but just recently went to three part time.
I NEVER run out of work now, but always have in the past six years in the business. This works for me, but took almost a year to balance the three so I'm not working a ton of hours.
You said THAT right! Most people avoid her type

I try to avoid it, but I'm a pretty good diagnostician.
Most of the time I'm right, but I hate to do it, cause they invariably will say, "then what should I do?" - at which point I have to tell them, "go to the doctor. I'm not a doctor, I'm a diagnostician."
No, just want to cut to the chase and avoid tne empty posts. nm

I've developed a bit of social phobia, now I avoid
I listen to social anxiety tapes, Dr. Richards, because i'm finding I want to be around people now, just have forgotten how. When i'm in a conversation, even with people i've known forever, where attention is focused on me I feel this fight or flight feeling, get nervous and turn red, just uncomfortable with socializing. Getting better though.
My service told us to use mg/dL...as well as mL instead of ml, "to avoid confusion." nm

I prefer weekends. I find most cherrypickers also avoid
weekends, so I at least get a decent selection of work to do.
Accreditation matters. It helps to avoid scams, but not always. sm
Pick a good school. It is extremely difficult to get hired immediately, even when graduating from an accredited school. It is a hard row to hoe. Most companies require at least 2, usually 5 years of time on the job. They just don't have time to train new MTs.
I avoid numbers in my short forms and use letters
instead when needed. What I do most often is double-key a short form (same two letters) that goes back and adds slashes or dashes for dates and decimals. It's easier for me to key the numbers, then let a command entry edit when needed. You might want to go to Productivity Talk for a lot of great tips on learning IT.
Also avoid Antivirus 2008/2009. It is very nasty.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS SoftScript, Transcend, Medquist, OSI, Transolutions
SoftScript has bad, bad ESL accounts.
Transcend is notorious for running out of work while they have plenty of well-to-fo executives. They overhire, then nobody has any work. They will call you every day to "work extra" - that is, if they have any work to do.
Medquist is having a massive exodus because they have been sued for fraudulent billing. There are thousands of people looking for new jobs, so maybe you can get something soon.
OSI offshores like crazy but their worst problem are some of their lunatic department heads, one in particular with no experience and less of a brain. NO IDEA how to run a successful company able to keep good employees. Most of their best MTs have left and they are stuck with a bunch of MTs fresh out of school.
Transolutions - Low, low pay and horrible QA department that is not consistent and will write you up over crazy things like commas.
Garlic keeps you healthy. You smell so bad sick people avoid you.

Medical Bazaar is Indian and horrid. Avoid like the plague.
Here's the deal. The only way to avoid the pre-existing waiting period (usually 12 months) is to
insurances..Even at that, say you have coverage until the end of July miss August and get new insurance September 1, your new insurance cant do a 12-month waiting on you for pre-existing but they can make you wait that 1 month that you didnt have insurance so...in effect, if you new insurance starts on Sept 1..it wouldnt have to cover a preexisting problem until October 1 cuz you missed a month. My advice.. keep the Cobra.. I know it's a fortunate but if you had any kind of complication or anything related to a preexisting and you have to miss a month of coverage..it could be really painful. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I hate shopping. I do mine on-line and avoid the annoying crowds.

If allergic to nickel, then avoid green beans, broccoli, peas, etc.
I have that same allergy, had problems with the old metal zippers, snaps, etc.
This is a link for metal/nickel allergy

if a new headset doesn't help, plug directly into CPU and avoid speakers and see if that helps.

Put it on paper
I was drowning in debt a couple of years ago. I finally bought a book by Dave Ramsey about getting out of debt and I must say, this man is a genius! He also does a radio program daily where he takes calls and gives advice. I now do a budget on paper where EVERY penny is accounted for. It is amazing how much of a difference this has made in my life. No, I don't reuse foil or sandwich bags ... LOL! I have paid off my credit card debt and installment debt. At this point, I'm working on the mortgage. I highly recommend the plan Dave Ramsey pushes for "financial peace" as he refers to it.
I have seen ads in the paper where...
Radiology MTs are paid that per hour. Maybe some of the others are too. I applied at a temp agency to work as an MT and asked for a minimum of $12/hr. I didn't get the job. I was not tested or anything, so I felt maybe they didn't want to pay me the $12/hr.
If you get on with the hospital, not sure if you will eventually be sent home or not, but most hospitals where I live send the MTs home to work. So, maybe try at a hospital near you? However, even though they pay hourly, they have a line count they want you to maintain. I think when they pay hourly, they really stick to the line count minimum to make sure they aren't paying you to do nothing. The minimum line count depends on the hospital.
good luck.
It also says on my paper...
…You may decide to continue working beyond your full retirement age without choosing to receive benefits. If so your benefits will be increased by a certain % between your full retirement age AND age 70. If I did not draw before age 70, I would have an 8% increase in the amount I would get at age 66- whatever that would be, don’t do math.
maybe you put too much paper into it, so that
the printer cannot 'grasp' it, or you put the paper too far away.
Hmm, I have a paper here that I signed that says
they will deduct FICA taxes, pay the employer part of FICA equaling 7.65%, and federal income taxes. It says I will receive a W-2, not a 1099.
FICA is the SS tax. So, if they are holding out federal taxes, FICA, employer part of FICA, then all that is left is state tax...??
Does anyone else get overwhelmed with all the paper
that's constantly thrown at them? I just spent an hour and a half cleaning off my desk. It was covered with mail, books, bills, school papers for all the kids, papers I have to fill out for DH and our oldest, papers to be shredded, stuff I have to do for other people, account specs. This was all just from the past week. I always thought I was a pretty organized person, but this place is a mess.....
What about scrapbook paper?
I know Joann has a big scrapbook paper notebook. It would look cute with a lot of different design/similar color paper hands. We actually did this with a turkey projected and covered the turkey with fall paper. I don't know what your budget is but the notebook is about $10 and you'd probably have a lot left over for other stuff.
I think I missed the ad in the paper that says you must
paint your house a funky color. I'm thinking I missed a huge sale at Home Depot on paint because my neighbors are going crazy with the colors. Yes, I understand home depot and Lowe's screws up paint and you can get the mixed up colors very cheap but geez. My neighborhood is going crazy with weird paint colors on their houses. Two months ago someone painted their house bright green with bright pink trim, then came the peach house with green trim, bright yellow house followed by bright blue house with the leftover yellow trim. New house being built across the street is all burnt orange including the fence. They even painted the driveway burnt orange and not UT vols orange. Now my neighbor is painting hers bright green. It's not a bad neighborhood here in Central Florida and the houses here run from 150s to 300s but these colors are horrendous. I think if I put my house up for sale I won't get an offer because the peach house, green and pink house, and orange house are all on the dead end street I'm on.
Sticky paper
Like I said below I buy my sticky paper through a place that prints up forms. You will need to do some calling to see. It is a little expensive but I provide that in my price. Just do not buy the boxed stuff from Viking or Office Depot or Office Max as they do not not have the perforations on the sides so that when they peel the note it is smaller than the paper and fits on a piece of paper. E-mail me if you have any questions. But if you are in the Seattle area, there are a lot of paper places up there. If you are doing overflow then the main MT should be able to tell you where to get the paper. Also they might provide it as some accounts do. Everyone is different. But CONGRATS -- the first step is the hardest. Knew you could do it. Be sure to ask for lots of examples when you start. Keep me informed. Any questions you can e-mail me. Patti typing without glasses hope don't have many typos.
You can get Sticky paper
You can get sticky paper from Medical Arts Press, get the quick peel that has perforations on the side so it fits on your regular sized paper. It is expensive though, I used to buy the large box, approx $90.00, so if you can get your client to supply it, that would be great. I always had to supply my own.
Sticky Paper
Does any one have any suggestions on a type of paper that can be printed on and then stuck into a patient's chart? I would like to find a lable type to fit in a certain space. Brand names would be helpful. Thank you in advance
Sticky paper
I use an 8 1/2 x 11 label size paper that has about 1/8" inch that peels back on each side so that it is smaller than the paper you place it on. The clinics use it to put the chart notes in the charts. I get it at a form place that makes it. Avery makes 8 1/2 x 11 labels but you have to cut down the sides before you peel back the sheet to place it on the paper and it doesn't have great peel backs either. Call local form places and sometimes they will have perforations 1" or so but I don't like that as you waste a lot when you have to begin another chart note and you have to be sure it is below one of the perforations. Have been using this for 15 years now. Did go with some national companies but the shipping got to be too much. Again, call local paper and form places in your area and see if theymake it. E-mail me wiht specific questions.
