Not a new concept, Hope. Works this way in all industries.

If you can't give yourself a break, at least give us one.
I personally enjoy VR work and make better money, even with a reduced rate. It's faster. Easier.

I hope it all works out well for you . . .
but I doubt very seriously that you will be able to get the best rate in a year. Unfortunately what someone tells/promises you can be very different from what can/will actually happen.
Hope it all works out for you
My son was diagnosed with GERD at the age of 9 months. He went through a multitude of tests before they diagnosd him. The reason for so many tests was because the only symptom he had was vomitting about every 2 or 3 minutes ALL DAY LONG. There was no slow onset of this. Three days after I stopped breast feeding, I noticed he would constantly vomit. Like I said, he would vomit literally every few minutes, and this went on for over 4 months!!! After trying Zantac and it not being effective, he was scheduled to have a fundoplication with a feeding tube at about age 1. However, our last hope prior to surgery was to try Reglan for 2 weeks. My husband and I were hesitant because of possible severe side-effects, but at that point we had no choice but to try it, as surgery was already set up. Amazingly, 10 days after starting Reglan, his symptoms 100% resolved and have yet to return. The doctors were absolutely amazed. His pediatrician and specialist have never seen a infant with such severe reflux that had such a quick onset and then have it so severely, only to be cured 100% by Reglan in 10 days.
He was even so underweight from 9 months to a year of age that his weight would not even register on the chart. Needless to say, he is now 3.5 years old, is not on any medication and is at about the 98th percentile for height and weight. The best thing you can do is hope your little one outgrows it and keep trying different meds.
Best of luck to you and your little girl!
Certainly hope it works out for you...
Good attitude to have! You can't let everything on here make up your mind for you. Take it all in..do what you wish with it. Alot of people unhappy with my company..I happen to like it. Just like I hated MQ..there are alot that love it.
To each his own and best of luck!
And hang around on here...no matter what the topic is...when stuff like this happens it's comic relief and a good stress buster lol
I really hope everything works
out for you.
I hope it works. :)
I know I removed all the hot keys in InScribe that they had listed as there were conflicts with me using some of them with the hot keys for the platform I work on and I fortunately recalled that (which with my memory is surprising-lol), so thought I would suggest it. I am not the most computer literate person but I stumble my way through. :)
Please do let us know if you found resolution to your problem, ok? Good thoughts being sent your way. I know how aggravating things like this can be. BTDT. :)
Hope the new one works for you !!.nm

Well, I hope it works for both of you! sm
I had a bad day too, so I understand how frustrating things are when they don't work right. I also discovered a while back that I can't save macros that are created while I am in my employer's platform. I have to close the platform, create them in Word only, and then reopen the platform. Then they are there and stay there, so maybe that is part of the problem, as well. Macros, autocorrect, and autotext are all saved to normal.dot file. Good luck to both of you. Have a good evening.
best wishs,,, hope it works out better.
I hope it works for her! You're welcome!

Good, I hope it works... nm
If you buy from Sylvan, I hope it works...
I paid $90 for a defective product with them and they would not send me a new one or give me my money back. I told them over the phone that I wouldn't do business with them again and their response was very arrogant, something about having other customers who would. It has been Stedman's ever since. If I have a problem with a CD from Stedman's, I get another one sent to me. No problem.
Good luck. I hope it works for you!
I always used to wonder why so many people on ebay started listing from smoke-free home. Then I bought an antique book, and boy did I understand! Now you will definitely be asking the smoke free home question right away for anything on Ebay, right? Yuck. Again, I used to smoke for decades and had no idea how awful it smells.Smokers don't really smell it themselves! Have fun, too!!
You're welcome, hope it works for you! I've used
Instant Text, but only briefly. It seems to be "bug-y" on my system. I usually have at least two or three documents open in Word at a time and when I switch back and forth using F6, IT screws up my being able to switch between documents easily, also when using IE I don't like the adjustments I have to make with my mouse to get the screen back to how I need it to be when Instant Text. I started with PRD+ for DOS a long, long time ago, used it for years until I switch to Shortcut for DOS, then made the switch to Windows and started with ShortCut for Windows. I used that program for about nine months before finding Shorthand. I really liked Shortcut but it has it's limitations with coding. I love ShortHand the most of the three programs mentioned. It's easy to use, I can duplicate easily, a really nice feature that I wish IT had. I also tried SmartType. It wasn't user friendly, or at least I couldn't figure it out! I think it may have been bug-y with my system or something. Anyway, long story short, I love Shorthand, it's easy to use but one can do rather complex things using it. Oh, and that little box that follows around on the screen showing what my short will be when I expand it is a great feature!
Outsourcing..Check this out hope it works

Of course it isn't, but if other industries are using it it's only
to do medical reports at least as well as we can and much faster. The writing's on the wall, people.
There are other industries that allow
you to work from home. There is a website that has them and it was featured on Good Morning America not too long ago...good professional positions. I am up for a position right now in a very interesting field as a manager working from home. If I don't get that, I am up for another one working from home. You'd be surprised. This industry is not the only one that pays well and allows you to work from home. I personally do not work in my pajamas because I work better dressed, but MT field is not the only one. There are real companies, big companies who are migrating their workers home.
Industries change, and not always for the better.
I do agree that AAMT has not been good for us. But ...
This isn't the first industry to evolve into something unfortunate. Look at the auto industry. Foreign competition came, started out making inexpensive cars badly, and ended up making superior cars at all different prices. American automakers were hindered in part because they didn't see it coming, because other countries could pay workers so much less, and they had smart people who were engineers and could figure out how to make cars that were taken seriously. And also Unions, although good in concept to protect workers against abuse, were run by greedy businessmen and they made business so much more expensive for the US companies than ever before.
Go back even further. Clothes and shoes used to be hand-made, and now we buy them off the rack. Do they fit as well? Is the quality as good? No. The craftsmen could tell us all the reasons their products are better. But do we consumers want to pay $400 for a dress? No. We can't. Not when we know we could spend $55 instead.
Steel and many other manufacturing companies have been through the same thing, and it has been devastating for many workers.
But we haven't gotten laws changed to protect our jobs. Now it's in our industry, and suddenly we care. And it is particularly irksome to us because it is so obvious to us that foreigners can't do English as well as we can. Then again, Americans don't care about English like they used to either, and it just doesn't bother some people that the quality is lower. Not when the almighty dollar is involved. These businessmen don't know or care about medicine or the reasons medical records have been important, and we can't make them care.
As for VR, the creators underestimate the complexity of the English language and of how a good MT assists in accuracy. They don't care that their stoopid machine can't question whether the dictator didn't mean appendix when he said gallbladder, or misspoke which side the surgery was on or the many things that a dictator might overlook while dictating that we would notice. The MDs rarely noticed what we did for them. Now our companies tell us to do it verbatim or as close as possible to verbatim. And we work for hospitals in another part of the country and have fewer clues about who Dr. Blake means when he says Dr. Jack Smith. And AAMT makes rule changes that the MDs know nothing about, and they are irked that we don't follow the rules like MTs used to.
People are always saying that change is good. But change can be very, very bad because the benefits are never for the worker. Prices and quality have gone down on average, but who will pay more after they have paid less?
I hear there are jobs opening up for food crop pollinators. Wonder how much I could get paid per flower?
Most industries do not gives gifts or bonuses...
I would be happy if I got something from my company, but I would not be upset it I didn't.
sounds to be like she has no concept of time.
.
I love the concept of a homeowners situation.
My mom's development has one and no one is allowed to hang clothes outside (too trailer-esque), they have to check with the association to see if the color of the drapes in their front windows are okay, and so on.
On the other hand, our development does not have an association and our next-door neighbor just put up the ugliest rust-colored old fogey looking awning over her front door, the guy down the street has a fence that looks like a medieval fortress, and so on.
If you want to keep an attractive neighborhood that way, a homeowners association is a must. Otherwise you never know if your neighbors will have taste buds up their butts and create an eyesore that the rest of the neighbors just have to deal with.
Remembering the concept that funerals are for the living, I would
take my daughter. You say, "I feel uncomfortable going to a funeral where I have only met the mother of this child once (at a birthday party)" but you aren't going for the mother. You are going for your daughter. I think this would be a wonderful opportunity for you to teach your daughter how to care for others at a time of loss. It is best to start with funerals of people that aren't that close to you, in order to introduce some of these ideas without personal grief getting too much in the way. Then when Grandma, Grandpa (or closer) go, it's not all completely new to the child.
I'm no sheep, heck, I'm not even religious. But I have grasped the concept of what a lie is.
s
Love the show and the concept!! Wish that were me with that kinda problems...
x
it's TASTE. You have lost sight of the original concept of the posts.
i'm not doing an ethical evaluation on why i am drawn to toby keith or if he may be gay or rock hudson's qualities if he was gay or jude law. it is just the type of guy women are drawn to and why. shallow has nothing to do with the discussion. but you aren't paying attention are you?
Agree to the concept but what I would offer is to show the doc the advantages of going digital and
most of them want to buy new toys anyway. As an MTSO, I stay up on the latest technology that will help all of us do our jobs better. For example, what if he has a stat report? That can be dictated and posted to the FTP site, done and back to the office in 15 minutes. Can't do that with tapes. Plus with digital files, you can copy them as you transfer, so there's a file in the software program, one on the ftp site and one at your office, just in case somebody gets erase happy. I feel the quality is better. Once in a while I get somebody who has a phobia about the big bad Internet but I would at least sit down with them and explain some things. Most fear comes from ignorance anyway.
This is a very basic computer skill/concept. You copy files to another drive using Explorer.
There are very detailed instructions in the Help files that accompany Windows. You can read those for more information.
Basically, you open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer). Locate the files you want to copy, highlight and right mouse click. Choose Copy. Now, find the location where you want to copy these files (usually another drive like D: or H:, whereever the flash/jump/thumb drive is located) and paste the files there.
I hope this applies to companies like Medquist. I hope there
isn't a way they can get around it. I REALLY hope.
Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
RIGHT!!! Someone who works 16 hours and someone who works 60 will have a HUGE difference. NM
.
Emdat works with Instant Text Por V - ony version that works with Emdat - nm
nm
Shorthand works with every program, it works outside the program you use, does not interfere.
nm
I hope so
I really want to do IC where I am a stay at home mom with a very active 2 yr old and hate to commit to hours until he is older. One other girl did not do IC because of this
Wow, a ray of hope
that's very encouraging to hear! Even though you didn't take the job, at least they seemed to be concerned as to why! Good job!!!
I hope this is okay
A friend of mine is in second place right now in the Staples invention contest. Please vote for Julie Savage and her Glue Swabs. Right now she is neck and neck with a musician, who has the online musician community bucking for him to win.
Hopefully MTs have more pull than musicians.
Oh, and you can vote once a day from each email addy you have.
I do hope it gets better for you.
I am struggling tremendously myself and working many, many hours to get my quota. But like yourself, I have got to have the insurance. It is so frustrating, but I will do what I have to do - and that has been a lot of praying here lately!
I hope so,
Oh boy, I hope I have this right...sm
He was told to follow up.
He presents for followup.
I hope you
are not still doing any work for her. If you and she live in the same area, I would pay a friendly visit. It's very easy for people to ignore emails. If you speak with her face to face, even if she is unable to pay you during your first visit. She will find a way to get your money if she knows that you will come by again. I would continue to drop by occasionally and just say, I was doing a pick up in your area and thought I'd stop by to check the status of a few outstanding invoices. It couldn't hurt.
Yes, that's my only hope
Maybe enough people will quit that there will be work. I'm going to wait for the packet and read things over, then decide what I'm going to do.
Still hope
I've never worked for a National - they turned me down years ago which was a blessing. Sent out letters to 75 local docs and now work for 3 at .15/line. Have you tried doctors in your community? Have to buy my own medical but still well worth it!
That gives me hope...
MQ is "rewarding" me for my dedication and expertise by routing the longest reports and foulest dictators to me simply because "You're the only one who can do them - you should feel complimented." I'm paid by the report so no matter how much I am paid - I'm screwed. Your post gives me hope that there are companies out there that don't operate like this. Thanks!
I hope you mean I just DID it. nm
Some hope
I don't exactly agree. I think the best MTs, those that save MDs the most time, have the best chance of continuing to work in this field. I found a job in RADIOLOGY, for goodness sakes, and because the MDs are confident that reports I produce make sense (and these particular MDs actually care) so that they can concentrate on their other work, I believe they will keep me around. I think the MTs with large vocabularies (especially for the dying language of ENGLISH), will be able to find work for years to come. Make sure you continue to educate yourselves and don't daydream while transcribing just because you've done this for 20 years and know all the terms. When you are not valued in one job, look for a place where they DO care about quality. It helps to be where the MDs can talk to YOU instead of a medically uneducated supervisor. Just my experience.
I hope you don't....
shop at Wal-mart or other organizations/companies such as that! You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth!
I hope someone else says it....
wow
hope this will help....sm

Well, 3 is what we have...hope that is
it! She seems to be doing ok with them so far...she is so young we were worried about her, but so far so good! We live in the country, cats get dumped here all the time..so unfortunate because not all cats can survive as some people think. We live on a very heavily traveled road, there are coyotes, and other hazards for them to avoid! We will keep her and her babies, actually have someone who wants one of the kittens. Mom will get spayed ASAP, babies when ready. We also have 7 other cats, all male, who were stranded out here also, they are getting neutered next week. We have a barn cat/feral cat program in our county so it is a reasonable price for spaying and neutering, plus I am hoping to get a quantity discount!
I hope so.
My other two pregnancies were totally different. I had energy throughout the entire nine months. However, this is the first pregnancy that I am actually working from home so I believe that is the difference.
I have one of those, and she is an ESL. I am sorry, hope your day goes better!
x
I hope you are okay...
Let us know what happens.
I sure hope so.
thanks for the support! I'm just not too keen on OPs even though it can be part of the job. I just find the majority of them boring! Hopefully I'll slide past them.
