Not CTS, but ... sm

severe "myofascial strain".  In 1989 I was giving up my profession, which also translated into my entire lifestyle, because of the pain in my forearms and hands. I went through all the conventional stuff -- splints, 3 months of rest, NSAIDS, massage therapy from the hospital -- none of which helped.  Someone told me about deep tissue massage therapy (it had to be deep tissue to work out all the terrible adhesions I had), and it worked!  It was done by an independent guy I was referred to who helped a friend.  I've been faithfully getting massages ever since. Damn the cost, it saved my preferred profession, and everything about my lifestyle that I treasure! I don't know why I never got full blown CTS, but thankfully it missed me.  Now I do lots of hand and arm stretching while working and while not working, and my own massage with a massage unit, as well as monthly professional ones that keep me in check. I've been fine ever since, but it reminds me now and then I better stretch more than I do.  I never want to go back there again!
