No, that's not what I was saying.

I think it IS cruel and inhumane. What I asked was if there was a more humane way to do it; i.e., some miracle humane way to do 'it' and stop using the growth hormones.
I am an animal lover, spent part of the summer on my uncle's dairy farm with 50 head of dairy cows...and gave every one of them a name. None were treated badly. I helped take care of them. The vet was called as soon as one of them would look ill. I spent another part of my summer on another uncle's farm where he raised pigs, steers, and chickens. When the chickens were too old; i.e., stopped laying, they would become Sunday dinner. When the steers and pigs were at a certain age, they were butchered and put in the freezer to tide them over for winter.
I have chickens debugging our yard right now...they belong to the neighbor and I just came in from talking to them.
Every animal deserves the right to be treated humanely. We are the keepers of those animals, but I'm sure there wouldn't be any animals if the Lord didn't want them in our food chain.
I rarely eat chicken and a lot of times, do only eat veggies for dinner, but there is no getting around it, I love beef and pork, and there is no way my hubby would give up his protein. What I DON'T do is buy meat or chicken from the large chain stores. I am against the production farms. This is not the first time I've seen videos like that, so I deal with local butchers. The problem wiht local butchers is they want you to pick out your animal (if getting a side or whole one), which I absolutely refuse to do.
