We get docked by QA for not filling in the address
or carbon copies, EVEN if we've notated that we can't find it anywhere and leave a blank. I have to look things up on the website, in a word document, anywho.com, and Google to fill in blanks. The doctors mispronounce the names and don't spell them out. It's a waste of time, and time is money when you work production.
I most certainly never docked an MT a single dime SM
for errors or blanks. That is completely insane (I know companies do it, and my hospital used to do it till I took the helm).
Is it normal to have pay docked for errors? . .sm
I have been working at this company for a couple of months and they just sent me an e-mail telling us that if a report has the wrong date of service or gets rejected by the client for any reason, they are taking it out of our pay. I agree that we should be accountable for our errors but some of these reports are 20 to 30 minutes long. If the doctor does not dictate a date of service, we cannot leave it blank. We have to put something in and send it to QA. I really liked this company until they started this. (I'm an employee not an IC.) I guess the reason I am so worried is because about half the time there is no date of service dictated and I have to guess and send it to QA. What if they don't correct it and send it with the incorrect date? I know I need to ask my employer this. I was just wondering if this was normal. Thanks!
Would you work for a co. that docked your paycheck for blanks?
nm
I work for Spheris, was docked by QA for typing 02/13/08 as a date SM
instead of 2/13/08 (dictator said "two" not " O two", and I read this garbage!!! Holy crap batman...
Only a person who consistently leaves blanks because they are lazy should be docked.
Or maybe they should just be fired. The first place I ever worked docked us for errors that we should not have made. I was only docked a couple of times, and it was only a small amount, but it made me pay attention and be more careful, and I think it made be a better MT.
I wouldn't take a position that docked for errors. We're all human, not infallible.

Not the norm
Well, you are not the norm. All you have to do is turn on the TV to see that. Jeeez, wake up.
But isn't that the norm everywhere now?
xx
is this the norm ?
I began p/t IC work for a local MT company and they're driving me crazy. THey look at every single word I type and send me HARD COPIES in the mail of my corrections, format changes, etc.
I have 15 years of MT experience - so this is crazy! It's all illegible - and I'm starting to go crazy! They pointed out "40mg" instead of "40 mg" ... all little stuff like that. Is this what I'll have to look forward to ? Thanks, MT-NY
I'm sure that's far from the norm
Michael Moore has been pretty good at twisting facts in the past. Not saying it didn't happen, just saying I'm sure it's not the norm in our country. I'll still take the USA any day.
8 cpl is the norm?
So, can I assume 8 cpl is about average? If I take a typical 48000 character file, there's about $3.80 difference. That looks small, but mulitply that by at least 2 times a day, 5-6 days a week, and in the long run it would make a big difference for me.
You are right, it is not the norm at first, but including myself and many others that I know
personally, we do make around 100 or more per day working for a national. It is very possible! You just gottah look.
I still don't understand how someone can have so many years experience, be on the same system, and make less than 175 lines per hour. I don't understand.
Maybe they are not typing fast enough or know enough terms, is all I can think of.
I've switched jobs in the past few months and started off slow, but now up to approximately 200 lph - came from a job where I did 350 lph on WP5.1 and now on an internet platform. I don't kill myself everyday working either.
It is about the norm around here in my neck of the USA. nm

I would say it absolutely is the norm for
Rad to be paid by the report. I have only worked for 1 company by line and didn't stay long. The company I work for now I get $1.50 a report. The lowest I have been paid is $1.10 a report. Unless the account is heavy in MRIs, CTs, etc. there is no way I would work for line.
If you have been doing this for over 12 years then I would say you are cheating yourself out of some good money. I average 180-200 reports a day, or $2700 a pay period -- can you say the same?
That is the norm from what I have experienced - sm
this gives the bride and groom time for pictures, etc. between the wedding and the reception. Every wedding I have ever been too, it's been about 90 minutes between the 2 events. Unless the reception is at the same place as the wedding, I'd expect some sort of gap between the two.
Have no idea if this is the norm or not but -sm
it seems like a sensible thing to do. I had to fast starting 24-hours before the colonoscopy, but I could drink certain things and have certain colored ice-pops/water ice (up until midnight), then about 15 hours before the procedure had to take 4 Duculax, then 2 hours later start drinking a 1/2 gallon of NuLYTELY (yuck, totally gross). Needless to say I am very glad I don't have to do it again for 10 years! I'm only 40 so I am 10 years too early for it as it is....but unfortunately had to have it done.
this is not the norm, dump them
Really now... nobody checks my work.
98% is the norm for accuracy
and most companies have their own QA system of assigning point deductions per error divided by line count. If you have a way to review your reports after they go through QA you should be able to see what your percentage is. If not, ask QA.
I have worked for a lot (too many) of companies, and this is the norm. nm
nm
The norm is 3:1 or even 4:1. Personally, I transcribe 2:1. nm
x
If the account specifies that is different. If they don't specify isn't 2 then the norm? nm
nm
Anything more than a week for a norm delivery is too much, sm
C-section - I would say 2 weeks max. Anything more than this is "milking it."
I wish I was that fast!---the norm is 3 to 5 minutes - sm
per dictated minute. I only do the 2:1 ratio when I am doing edits.
Not the norm, organic baby greens
with tofu, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, organic corn pasta salad with tofu dill dressing
It does make one wonder how long this is going to go on or is this just the norm now? Terribly sad
I lost my QA job 3 weeks ago because a US company bought the offshore company my original company was using and now brought in their own QA people. Apparently they hope to get these MTs off QA here real soon.... I just gotta laugh... I've been QAing the work for over 2 years and it is the same mistakes day in and day out... they just don't get it and don't care to 'get it'... they get paid no matter what so what is the incentive to learn? These MTs actually argued with me about contractions, etc., like I had no idea what I was doing.... I know you are venting and I hear you and totally understand... it's a sad place MT has gotten to over the last 5-7 years or so in my mind
Timed test the norm for IC job hunting?
I had a response to a job that had a specified time frame for testing. It had to be done withing 2hrs of getting the passcoded from them via email. I got the email 30 after they sent it and it took forever to do it becuase you couldn't use express scribe/foot pedal. I had to go between word and media player.....and in doing so went over the 2hr limit. Is this normal for them to do this?
What will happen to us when Electronic Medical Redords become the norm?
I would love to hear everyones 2 cents about Electronic Medical Records....How soon will this be a problem for us? What will we do after they are in most doctors exam rooms?
Let me know what you guys think...Do MT's have a future? or did I just go thru schooling for nothing ...
Well, it seems the norm to me! I've tested with at least 4 co's in the past few years and
the tests were not dictations that I do on an everyday basis. I know they pick and choose carefully what they will test you on because there are always kinks in there where the doc either stumbles, mumbles, or you know you would have to be a genius to figure out what they are saying.
Those credentials for teachers in public school are NOT the norm...
At my daughter's school when she was in 3rd grade she showed me her final spelling test. The list contained the words: You, me, and two, among other similar ones. My daughter was in the gifted program, and those were her final spelling words in preparation for 4th grade!! We do NOT have public school teachers with PhD degrees in anything. They're lucky they have a Bachelor's. I have a Bachelor's and consider myself quite capable of teaching. Believe me - all schools are NOT created equal.
I wish you were the norm! Can't find 8.5 cpl for experience out here anymore. You're VERY luck
,
Then you shouldn't ben an SE or an IC. We all....
have to make the choices and or sacrifices that provide us with what we need. You may need to find a job that provides benefits, as opposed to living on the edge regarding medical care. If that means you work a rigid schedule because you're an employee, giving up the flexibility of being an IC may be necessary. I did the same thing myself. Canadian health care stinks.
They shouldn't be able to do that.
We used to rent and went through that. I've worked as a housekeeper before, so I'm anal about cleaning. Security deposits are for damages only, usually not for routine cleaning. We had landlords try to charge us for many reasons, but there are Landlord/Tenant laws in each state. In my state, the landlord has to notify us that the unit is not clean enough and give us time to clean it up before they can withhold from the security deposit. If they don't notify you, your deposit is fully due to you. They also have to give you an itemized list of specific charges, not just general cleaning. I always took pictures before and after, too, just to prove that we left everywhere clean.
We had one altercation with a landlord in a basement apartment we lived in. The foundation was cracked and leaking, and the ancient threadbare 1950s carpet got stained with water, moldy, and mildewy, so we tore it out and replaced it with remnants. He tried to charge me for recarpeting the entire basement apartment. I took pictures, though, and threatened him with a lawsuit of my own for providing substandard living quarters, failing to make repairs, and withholding my security deposit. He tried to bully me by telling me that he had never lost a case, so I turned him in to the county.
Go to Google and type in your state name with "Landlord Tenant laws" and "security deposit" to see what it says. Then call an attorney for a free consultation. Send a demand letter for the funds owed to you.
Maybe I shouldn't say this but
Uninstall it and reinstall again, see what happens.
shouldn't have said it was better lol
I keep getting all lines are busy please try again later or We are sorry all circuits are busy now please hang up and try again 312506.
And I thought monday was over,,,,,,my bad!!!
Shouldn't we use ml instead of cc?
nm
He shouldn't try to think.
nm
No, you shouldn't do that. sm
I have always read NO, do not run 2 antivirus programs at once. I run Spybot and Ad-Aware along with my main antivirus (I use Avast), but you should not run 2 main antivirus (such as Avast or AVG) programs together. I don't know what PC Tools does so I don't know specifically if that is okay to run with AVG, but I would advise checking with AVG before you do anything.
I find that using something like AVG and running periodic Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware scans, plus using the immunize tool in Spybot, works well and keeps my PC free of pests (along with firewall, of course).
Just my opinion, but a lot of the "do-it-all" programs end up slowing down your computer with extra features you may not even need or want. Half the stuff they bundle isn't even necessary since many browers and ISPs bundle the same functions in their software. Therefore, you might be wasting memory resources on something you already have adequate protection for with your browser/ISP. You can compare it to medicine designed for cough, congestion, and allergy - if you only have the cough, you really don't need the congestion and allergy medicines so why buy the multi-formula med and subject your body to it unnecessarily when you could just get the cough med and be well?
shouldn't have to
you can program any key to anything you like.
and shouldn't that be...
MIIIIIIINE?
Hehehe. I'm in a mood today.
What I wanted to do but never did (and probably shouldn't)
I always wanted to tape record about 20 minutes of the yapping and then play it back right outside when the neighbor had a window open, preferably in the middle of the night!
I probably shouldn't bite, but (sm)
Almost $30,000 (including July SE bonus).
Medquist.
Shift differential.
Incentive bonus (over 17,000 lines/pp) met 50% of pay periods.
Quarterly bonus for SEs (at least $500 per quarter).
Work 40 hours per week, sometimes more if I work an occasional weekend.
Two kids at home, over 17, but neither drive (boo me).
No husband or boyfriend.
I have as much of a life as I want.
shouldn't you ask your employer
Shouldn't an employer pay
Not doing that is what has made the world go upside down right now.
If I am paid 7/cents a line and my cost of living is based on 12/cents a line plus
benefits, it's almost impossible to keep working for that company who is paying
7/cents a line.
It's pretty simple.
America still demands that we live an "American life style - no sh^t in the rivers, building codes, codes on how many people can live in a dwelling, high insurance rates, etc etc"
well, paying all that and making what a company is paying a peoples who don/'t have those demands is insane.
It's a simple question to our leaders?
Do you want us to live like the third world country? or do you want to give us ability to make salaries to pay for the LIFE STYLE America is demanding we do.
Frankly I'm sick and tired of paying for free loaders of any color. When I saw Laurie Duh (don't know how to spell her name) on Fox yesterday report that one of the homeless from New Orleans........went out and bought a LOUIS VUITTON PURSE
with the $2000 she got..........I STARTED SCREAMING and if I could have gotten my hands around the neck of the idiot who thought it was a good idea to give these people the money in the first place I would have strangled him.........and then I would have done the same to the woman who bought the purse.
I'm sitting here in pain from a bad tooth and no insurance.........and she bought a purse.........LOUIS VUITTON.
p.s. Billfolds in Louis Vuitton start at around $600 and the purses are around $1500 to $5,000.
You shouldn't be surprised
Anybody can get a husband. You are a perfect example of that. I'm not going to settle for just anybody like you did. Just in case you couldn't tell, I have standards.
You shouldn't be ashamed..
So what if it's not the South of France. As long as you had a good time and enjoyed yourself, that's what it's all about!
I have done a lot of traveling, and I can tell you the best vacation that goes down in my memory book is going to Sanibel Island, Florida - surf fishing, catching fish - swimming in the ocean - and kicking back wtih my honey with a Mai Tai. We sent out to dinner at lot at some really nice restaurants there, but the best was steaks on the grill the resort had available there and a great bottle of vino.
I hope you get to Myrtle Beach again and enjoy yourself.
(High Five To Ya')
But they shouldn't be able to make a law on it.
I find it ridiculous! This is just my opinion though, and not going against any of the others.
Unless they are going to make a law that is has to affordable for people that is!
Shouldn't matter.....sm
Your macro will open the original template each time. If you need changes to it, make the changes and save it as a different template and link your macro to it. I'm not a macro expert, but I've made a few and it really isn't hard. There's info in Word's help files.
You really shouldn't assume anything
about people you don't know. I am not overweight at all. I eat well and exercise regularly, but I don't condemn other people for eating what they like. It's very rude of you to call me overweight. You don't even know me.
Hey, I never said that an MT shouldn't send anything to QA at all. SM
I am a big believer in QA being utilized as one of the many resources available to MTs to help them do their jobs, but QA should be the LAST resource after exhausting all other resources.
You shouldn't have to. Maybe 5 years from now you will need
a Vista computer, but too many people have XP now for anyone to consider upgrading to something that won't work with XP.
