Please do not berate yourself. If I were you, and I'm not you....next birthday for anyone, I'd make myself forget and with NO GUILT. In order for them to turn it around, you have to give it back to them.......by example. Obviously, it seems evident to me that you put yourself last in your family....makes you a good mom, that...in and of itself.
Next birthday or holiday that isn't yours but is someone else's in the family? Conveniently forget....is my suggestion to you.
Sometimes you have to fight fire with more fire. Sometimes we, as moms, have to SET AN EXAMPLE in an opposite direction. Your wonderful giving examples of giving obviously didn't work. But don't condemn yourself. You can only lead a horse to water, you cannot make them drink it.
Happy Mother's Day to you!!! It's not a fake holiday...I was saying yesterday EVERYDAY should be Mother's Day...instead of CHILDREN'S Day. *lol*
Be well and don't put yourself down. *hugs*
