It won't interefere with using my pedal for other non Olympus stuff, right?
See I only use my pedal for online work and only use it one way w/Bytescribe so I'm kind of fumbling around with this.LOL. Thanks!
You can buy just the Start/Stop software w/o the pedal if you're able to use your pedal as a VEC

Starting job using Olympus Player/pedal - does this have a good player with slow down speeds - I do

Until now I have always used company software with player included.  I hate to spend money and find out the player is mickey mouse!!

Thanks- you may e-mail me if you prefer.

They're coming to take you away. Your family called 911 and explained you were sputtering and re
could not understand a word you were saying and you were about to take a baseball bat to the computer muttering something about join, CIA, MQ, dreams, lawyers.

Get some rest, take your medication and maybe you can come home on the weekends with supervision.

Found the original post about the Olympus WS110 - do I need olympus software to convert the files?

Why would Olympus files not work with FTP?
The types of file shouldn't have any impact on FTP use. FTP is simply a place to store and transfer files, whatever the type. Can you provide more details as to why you think they don't work well with FTP? FTP is the quickest and easiest way to transfer files, IMO.
Olympus 3300 ... will this work with express scribe? (sm)

I see that you can buy an optional olympus transcription "kit" but I have the pedal, ear phones and express scribe.  Does anyone know if this works with it?

Thanks!

Is there ONE pedal I can buy that will work with ALL platforms? And where do I shop for a pedal?
.
Well, you're all complaining that accounts are current and work is low, so, gee, maybe they're
focusing on WORK, as in CLIENT and transcribing, as maybe half of you should be focusing on!!
They're all really the same, from the simple foot pedal to the more technical stuff.
Doesn't bode well to me, and I'd not waste my time or my computer!
Why dont you stop coming in and agitating everyone under all your different names. Dont you work.

Help getting wav pedal to work

I ordered a new Olympus RS25 pedal off of ebay, but am not sure how to get it to work with the express scribe program.  Please help if you have any clue.

The pedal did not come with any software and the lady said it should automatically work with Express scribe, maybe I am not doing something right

TIA,

sunny!

Me too! Only wish I could work the pedal with my
Big fuzzy bunny slippers.
I could never get the pedal to work!
I have a foot pedal that is plugged into a USB gameport adapter. How hard was that supposed to be? Yeah right.
I ended up downloading Transcription-Buddy, which is a free download and then downloaded NCH Swift Sound - sound Switch converter to change them over to wave files or whatever it was I could not open. This also was free. If you get it downloaded
Go under view and options and over on the right to foot control and I ended up using the Microsoft PC joystick selection.

You're lucky they work for you. I've never gotten a refill to work right, ever.

foot pedal---any one will work I think, SM
I type on the Dictaphone Transnet platform and have two pedals and they both work. I am not sure the brand, but they are nothing particular. One is a USB and the other is a 9-pin. I am using the 9-pin right now.
Did your foor pedal work
with Real Player?
Getting foot pedal to work (sm)
Does anyone have advice for getting a foot pedal to work for downloaded internet files.  I have plugged this into the USB port but my computer is not recognizing it.  Does having an ipod and its components installed/downloaded affect the foot pedal.  TIA
how do you work the foot pedal?

how do you compare your lph with this versus a regular keyboard?

I got my foot pedal to work

THESE ARE THE STEPS YOU NEED TO FOLLOW TO GET YOUR PEDAL WORKING, I DID AND IT WORKS.

The only steps you must follow are 14-16 to get the Footpedal working with InScribe.

After jobs have downloaded, click on Options Menu and select "Separate Play and Pause".

14.

15. On Options Menu, select "Set Actions".
16. For the F9 key, you will see "Save". Drop down the list next to the F9 key and select "Pause". The actions are in alphabetical order so you should scroll up. Now select "Pause" and press OK or Close.

have never been able to get my Infinity pedal to work...
with Express Scribe. It's a pain, but I've just used the manual controls.
Help! Can get foot pedal to work

I have started a new job with Landmark but cannot get my two foot pedals to work with Bayscribe.  Could someone please help me!

Thanks in advance!

Foot pedal will not work
Sorry, I am just so upset because I need this job and neither of my 2 foot pedals seem to work with Bayscribe and in trying to get it to work I think I may have messed up the driver.  Any help would be appreciated!
will Infinity pedal work with Inscribe?
I'm switching companies and foot pedals and don't understand.  I'll be using Emdat-Inscribe, and the pedal I have is an Infinity USB1.  Are these compatible? I've done what it says to do on the site for other pedals and it still won't work.  Does anyone know if this Inifinity foot pedal will work with Inscribe?
Does your Infinity pedal work with DocQscribe?

Just wondering if your Infinity foot pedal works in DocQscribe?  Does it automatically recognise it?

My friend has a footpedal that a former employee of Medquist was using, and went to use it as a new employee with MedQuist and it won't work now.  It works in Express Scribe perfectly.  MedQuist says you have to rent one from them and they won't "troubleshoot" problems with the pedal since it wasn't purchased through them......(even though it was by this former employee).

Any suggestions?

The files need to be associated with a player for pedal to work.

Foot pedal will not work with Bayscribe

Thank you so much.  I believe we did this but for some reason it does not work.  Have been at this all day and I am exhausted from trying to figure out the problem.  Could you tell me what the difference is between a VEC USB foot pedal and a USB foot pedal.  That may be the problem, although both foot pedals have worked with other "tests" with other companies so I am just confused why it will not work with Bayscribe.

Again, thanks so much!

Susan

I put a heating pad in front of my pedal on low. Socks don't work 4 me.

A regular Infinity USB pedal should work with their system. Why not ask them for sure? nm
s
I also struggled with the trying to get the foot pedal to work so I used my keyboard.

Honestly, it was not a long test and was easy to do just using the mouse etc..It was taking longer to figure out how to use the footpedal feature than doing the actual test.

Anyone know if a pedal with Dictaphone adapter will work with ExpressScribe?

Thanks !!!

The plug is for the monitor, pedal wouldn't work there. NM

If is difficult to work in a recliner and push a foot pedal. It can
be done but creates a strain on your feet/ankles and slows you down.  I work on a picnic table under an awning when the weather is nice, but I'm not able to work as well as I do at my desk because I'm not able to have a keyboard tray and working with my keyboard on the table makes it too high.  I've even tried work in bed using a tray across my lap, but then again you have the problem with pushing the foot pedal.   You could use the keyboard for your function keys but it would really slow you down.
Lanier Foot Pedal will NOT work with Express Scribe
Sorry to tell you but no a lanier foot pedal from a transcription machine will not work with an wav.player.
Most foot pedals out there are at least 69.00. - (cheapest I found) - and be careful what kind you get - if you have a newer computer - you will want the USB one - (faster, works great)
Express Scribe and pedal DO work with InScribe upgrade
That is not the case with me. I just upgraded to 4.91 and am still using Express Scribe and it's working fine. I do have an Infinity USB pedal. I do, however, have Windows XP or ME (I never remember which - XP I think) and not Vista. The tech guy at InScribe said some people have problems with the upgrade of 4.91 and Express Scribe with Vista. They have special directions on their download site for Vista users. Hope this helps someone. The new upgrade looks good, though I've not had a good run with it yet.
Do U keep playing with the ports and the types of foot pedals? An odd pedal might not work, like a

If the latest version, post below says regular Infinity pedal will not work and cannot use outside p

Trying to take a test in Express Scribe and cannot get my foot pedal to work. I dont want to
cause a problem in DQS with the foot pedal either.  Any suggestions.  I have the foot pedal that you use for DQS.  It is an Infinity foot pedal.
This would be just a "regular" 3-pedal pedal and not the Dictaphone pedal. nm

You're 100% right! And where we work - (sm)
(and what we wear!) should have NO bearing whatsoever on whether or not we're considered 'professionals'.

I think the reason the MT industry has gotten out of the hands of MTs and hospitals, and into the hands of plain old businessmen, is because, since we're a mostly 'invisible' workforce, they could see countless cracks and loopholes they could take advantage of when it came to cheating the workers (and the laws in this country) and making more profit for themselves.

I caught something on TV last night speaking about the "equal value" laws some states have, when it comes to the disparity between men's and women's pay. Certain jobs were awarded point systems to determine their worth to an employer. One example was secretaries (women) vs. the building's heating/AC/etc. maintenance workers (mostly men). They each were worth 100 points. Yet the men made twice what the women did, and worked fewer hours on average.

Considering what MTs are expected to know (especially according to AHDI/AAMT), I wonder what our point-value would be compared to, say - a paralegal, or a paramedic, or an executive secretary, etc. (Probably not the best comparisons, but all I can think of at the moment). The only difference between us and them is where we work. They're on-site & highly visible; we are off-site and totally invisible. (How many of us have ever even met our bosses or supervisors face-to-face? Very few, indeed). But does that make an MT worth less? NO. Only in the eyes of the tunnel-visioned doctors, dictating away and aware only of their own jobs, or the hospital CEOs trying to bolster their own worth to their institutions by cutting transcription costs (many of them don't even quite know what transcription even IS), and worst of all, the owners of large MTSO's, who in large part these days are simply businessmen or women who bought the company because they felt they could turn a huge profit with it by underpaying its workers, and most of whom have never been an MT a single day in their lives.
I think you're all wrong. It's all about getting the work done
for the hospital in the fastest time possible and my company doesn't care if I do it or if you do it (if you worked for us) or if someone else does it, just get it done for the client. So complain as you like, find somewhere else to work if you need, but get the work done. That's the bottom line.
Look at what you're using now as far as ports for work. sm
You'll need to get a laptop that has the same kinds of ports. If you're using all USB, you're in luck because most new computers only have USB. If you're using a serial foot pedal, consider buying an model just off lease that has that port. There has been such a problem where I work because they don't have USB capabilities in their software yet and so their serial foot pedal does not work with newer laptops even with adapters from serial to USB.

I just bought off lease a Dell and made sure it had all the ports I wanted, including a parallel port because that's the foot pedal I have. The laptop was built in 2002, has over 1 gig of RAM, all the updates for Windows XP and it works just fine for me.
I understand what you're going through. I work both myself. sm
I have been IC for several years, and thought I might go back to employee for benefits.  But I found the insurance was so high, and the pay was not as good, so I work both part time now.  The bottom line is, I can't give up the freedom I've had in the last several years.  I am given so much work in the morning, and have all day to finish it, and I love this system.  I tried to set a schedule for my part-time employee job, thinking I would like to go to full time if it worked out.  But I had too much trouble making myself fit a schedule (they have offered to let me work when I can, so I'm still keeping the job, but if I can't do it right, I will quit).  Unfortunately, when you get used to IC, it is hard to fit back in a "box."  Maybe you could look for a company that would allow you some flexibility in your schedule, say an 8-hour window to work 6 hours.  If you have the experience, some companies will work with you that way.  I don't think IC is a dead end, it is just a little harder to manage.  But the benefits did not pan out.  I can get the insurance cheaper individually, the pay was lower so I could actually put a little back as an IC every pay period and take time off "paid."  The only thing I miss is what they pay for taxes (I think 7% or so), and having someone else do these things for me.  If you like IC as I do, try setting up your own retirement plan, getting your own insurance, and put a little back each pay period for some time off.  Good luck with your decision.
You're RIGHT, & many of us *need* to work at home
:(
How does income tax work when you're IC?
I was offered a position from a company as an IC, and the contract had a clause about being responsible for your own tax deductions, etc. As I have only ever been an employee, I am not entirely sure how this works. If you are IC how do you pay taxes? Thanks!
You're lucky. I get lots of work but have

You're right! I wouldn't work for a company that SM
expected me to surf all over the world just because some prima donna didn't want to be bothered with proper dictation.
