He is going on my church prayer line now too!

Praying for your requests also. I also had a very dear friend with ovarian cancer; seems that is something is pretty far along before the symptoms start, or, it was in her case. Bless you!

Prayer for 4-year-old boy
I just did pray for him. Please let us know how he is doing, so we can see the result of our prayers.
Thanks.
Lynn
I do not think her issue was with prayer...
I believe what she meant was that she had never heard this dictated before; therefore, she was questioning it. She was not questioning whether it is okay for a physician to pray with his patient.
Wow---chill out everyone! OP said nothing against prayer or
it was allowed in a report.
It's no different than asking if typing someone "makes her money on her back" is appropriate. It's not the subject itself---it's whether or not it should be in a medical document because it's not medical. My answer is yes...if the doc dictates it then you put it in. There have been plenty of things over the years I would've left it, but you just put it in.
There's no reason for these attacks on her though...she didn't say anything was wrong with prayer. She didn't say she didn't tolerate anything Christian.
Everyone is WAY, WAY to defensive on this. She could very well be Christian herself, but you don't know that because she didn't say one way or another and didn't say it was good or bad.
Prayer mention
Why is it that no one has any questions as to the mention of abortions or homosexuality or selling sex in any way, but we question a mention of prayer. Christians are supposed to be tolerant of freedom of speech but we no longer have it it seems. We are supposed to accept differences in cultures but we are not allowed to pray in school openly, but homosexuals for example can kiss and hold hands in schools. I am a very tolerant person I just wonder why things like prayer are not tolerated but rather some kind of violation or "no way" type of thought to others who may not believe. And before anyone blasts me I have friends that are very dear to my heart that are gay both female and male, and have atheist and pagan friends. I believe that we all have the right to believe the way we do and express ourselves freely. I am only sorry that we are looking for "rules" to avoid the mention of prayer.
How do you know they said a Christian prayer?
It is very possible that both the patient and physician are Muslims. You are only assuming it was Christian prayer and getting your panties in a knot based on that assumption.
Christian prayer
I know because I know the docs personally. I am a paramedic and have also worked as a nurse in several docs offices.
I see nothing wrong with prayer...sm
If a doctor prays with a patient then I think that is fine if the patient is okay with it. As MTs it is our job to type whatever they dictate. So if they dictate about praying we should just type it and not worry about it. It is a job.
Why shouldn't it be part of the report. It is the doctor's report for that patient. If the patient is okay with it it is not for you as the MT, in my opinion, to decide hey this doesn't belong here. The doctor wouldn't have dictated it if he didn't want it in the report. And I believe when a doctor dictates something it is your job to type it. Don't ask questions, just type, unless it is something you have been trained not to type.
I say even if you don't agree with it and if you don't that by all means is your right as an American citizen. But if he wants it in the report just put it and be done with it.
A Prayer for the New Year
As the dawn breaks on a new year, let us give thanks for all we hold dear: our health, our family and our friends.
Let us release our grudges, our anger and our pains, for these are nothing but binding chains. Let us live each day in the most loving ways, the God-conscious way. Let us serve all who are in need, regardless of race, color or creed.
Let us keep God of our own understanding in our hearts and to chant God’s name each day. Let us lead the world from darkness to light, from falsehood to truth and from wrong to right.
Let us remember that we are all one, embracing all, discriminating against none.
May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon you and bestow upon each of you a bright, healthy and peaceful new year.
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
Please pray for our little dog, Fluffy, who is in the hospital right now and on oxygen. We just came from there and he is having a lot of difficulty breathing. He has swelling on his spinal cord and they are unable to do additional testing to find out why because of this complication. Please everyone say a prayer for him that his breathing stabilizes and they can find out what the problem is.
Thank you and God Bless
Thanks to everyone for the advice and offer of prayer - sm
How ironic is this. S works in a mental health unit but they don't see children. The psychologist that Tater does see works with children but I think her 20+ years of experience is missing this particular type of behavior counseling.
Still hoping I will hear back from this doctor I wrote to last night to see if she has any advice to offer too.
Danny's on my prayer list
I'm so sorry to hear this happened. How tragic. I will keep Danny and his family and you -his good friend - in my prayers. Best of wishes to all of you.
I am glad you are doing well. Prayer does work
Mention of prayer in reports
I have never run across this problem in the past. I have a provider stating "we took a few minutes to lift everything up in prayer." My gut says NO WAY. But, I can't find a rule to support that. HELP!
mention of prayer in reports
As mentioned everyone has the right to believe what they want - even Christians. There are several surgeons in this town who pray before beginning surgery. I think it is great, both ways for them and the patient.
Post on prayer board ???
Is that for real? Is it someone here or was that a fwd that was posted? A few things jumped out at me as being inconsistent with the situation presented.
No magazine. It's from me. You're first on the prayer list though!
:)
The auesome power of prayer at work
once again! Sorta puts all our little gripes in perspective.
putting that precious little guy on my prayer chains right now! nm

It reads like a response to a prayer request.
I will keep your thoughts in mind...
What is wrong with prayer, and what rule are you talking about?
Many people have different beliefs and it is not just Christians who pray. I would greatly respect any doctor, no matter what his religious beliefs, who takes a moment to acknowledge the importance of the task before him and that he can use a little help from above. We humans, no matter how hard we try, are imperfect. Why are you so offended by someone who prays? And as for a rule ... maybe you are thinking about prayer in schools that is not allowed.
Let me guess ... you are not offended by the doctor who cusses up a storm in his reports, or are you looking up rules for that one too!
How nice is this keyboard? Nice light touch?
I have a regular Microsoft ergonomic one now but I'm thinking I should probably get a replacement and use mine as a backup.
For those that now the power of prayer, please pray for a friend whose 4-year-old son is in the sm
hospital with bleeding on the brain. She is employed in the MT field and really needs our support right now. TIA.
question, but prayer shouldn't be a problem in dictation.

original poster of prayer sentence information
I am the originator of the post on typing a sentence regarding praying with a patient. I don't care that he did it one way or the other. My concern was that I did not believe that it should be part of a dictated medical report. We don't add patient names. We carefully word sentences so that the patient is not denigrated in the process and patient care not impacted. This is not relative to patient care, in my opinion. I have been doing this job a long time and never had anything like that mentioned in a note before now. Not at hospitals with definite religious affiliations. Not when typing for a physician and his staff that regularly do it. So, I asked a question here. Based on the responses, it will be the last time I do. Yes, I do "question' everything I haven't typed before by verifying the word, disease, medication, etc.
I was nice today, and people were nice to me.
If you steer away from the nastiness, there are a few nice and encouraging posts in there.
May God bless the miners trapped in West Virginia. There is power in prayer. Let's rally MTs!
Be nice
This is just the kind of response people are referring to........ try to be a little less defensive/offensive
Nice!
Nice! My guinea pig would LOVE you!
Thank you so much! It's nice to know that someone
else believes in those of us who never received formal training as an MT but love our jobs and do them well (my QA score is 98% or better).
Not sure. It would be nice if across the
board all MQ offices would be exactly the same. It would save a lot of confusion among MTs. It seems that every single office has different policies and different requirements. They need to do something about that.
Well nice is as nice does ...
there are some people who would think I was being false and "Miss Nice" if I were to do all the "bless your little heart" business.
I'm matter of fact. I expect adults to be mature and fully developed in their thinking ... instead of the juvenile "OMG, I can't believe I can't get what I want" attitude.
We can agree on one thing...neither of us likes the other one's attitude. Hahahaha
You want to complain and whine like an insolent child. That's your right.
I'd rather throw a little mature advice, hints and tips on how to survive, how to make it, when to call it quits, etc. I'm not sitting on a throne anywhere having no idea what I'm talking about. I've been there and I'm speaking from experience - experiences of failure and success, happiness and discontentment, etc.
If you're over 18, you don't need to be babied. That's what your mother is for.
This is an adult world. Grow up. Be accountable. Be responsible. It's your life. You make every single decision and you are in control. To let anyone else control your life -- that is a choice as well and not a smart one.
You can just keep on sitting here, splashing around in the pity pool! Soon you'll be all shrivled up and prune-like. Hahaha Or, you can get out. Dry off. Decide what you want to do, where you want to go, and get the heck out of Dodge.
Guarantee you -- in 2 years, in 5 years, and more -- the majority, not all but the majority, of the complaining, whining, unhappy MTs will still be here, still on this forum, still with the same song and dance, with the same problems, with the same attitude. Not all, but most. They will be left behind.
That's not very nice to say
I do not think the employees of MDI are treated "like crap and fight for the work".
I am a Transcriptionist myself and I treat my MT's the way I would like to be treated myself.
If you don't know how we pay ALL full time employees' ULD, then you could not have worked for us.
It is truly unfortunate that you feel this way. You may call me at any time to discuss your statements. Thanks, Liz
Nice!!!!
LOL!!!
I am nice!
I do play nice until the other people throw the first punch, so to speak.
nice lie.
Whats this imaginary recruiters name
that's not nice
Hey now, I have an uncle ron and he is the best damn lover I have ever had - do you want him for a night?
yes, very nice.....
about your job with MQ! LOL
Now, this is nice!
Yikes, we must have done something wrong because our posts are all gone. Oh well. Glad we agree on some things. As the saying goes, life would be very boring if we all agreed on everything and there was no such thing as opinions. Keeps life interesting!
Actually, in my opinion, Frankie boy had me rolling on the floor. I know undoubtedly some of his remarks were down right crude, but for some reason the people were just responding to him which just kept him going and going and going.
So glad we understand each other and accept the differences we have. Have a good day!
WOW - It's nice
I work two jobs - a hospital job 10 hours per day and my night job for an orthopaedic clinic (many, many years). I just put my 13 inch from the kitchen in my office. I feel it will come in handy for bad weather, etc, during the day. BUT - at night, this is nice. I am typing my clinic notes with no problem and am listening to the news at the same time.
Usually, I listen to music. It actually is really nice with the news on right now - and I can type like crazy during the commercials!! THANKS FOR THE IDEA!!!
I had thought about it before when we were expecting Katrina, but didn't follow through with it. I'm glad I did it today.
How nice!
Okay, you B-I-G LOSER! Just because you are so unhappy with MQ and they can't cater to your every little need, don't take it out on us because we have the ability to adapt! Perhaps seeing a psychiatrist is the way to go for you. Doesn't take much to realize you have issues.
As far as brushing, flossing, and rinsing with Listerine, I done and did that - NOW IT IS YOUR TURN. Forget brushing and flossing though, just take your bottom and top plate out and soak them for a while!
A car yes, but not a nice new one
I think new cars are things to be EARNED by adults who WORK for them. Saddest story I ever heard, true: Some nice people bought their 16 year old daughter a used car for her birthday. They were so excited about it. The first words out of her mouth: "But it's a used car!"
Isn't it nice...
... that we, as transcriptionists, have mastered following all the "rules" of each client -- and 100 more not mentioned here -- that make YOUR job so easy! Kudos to us. And by the way... you're welcome!
Same to you. Nice having you here.
zzz
Be Nice
You sounded mean and I am not flakey--just trying to help the medical transcription services get quality reports from my students. I have posted about three entries on this site over the past year and have been bashed by people 3 times.....not a good record...although others were very friendly. If there are just a couple of predominately negative individuals here, please remember you don't know who you are talking to...could be your neighbor or best friend.
Wow....that is not very nice....nm

That was so nice. (sm)
It is really important to focus on the good. You know, before all this happened I was confident and cheerful and lovely. I had lots of friends and I was happy. I gave all my power to him. Even over the little things, we still constantly disagree. I realize that he and I are too different to make that "opposites attract" thing happen. I have made some huge steps in the past few days, starting with my confession yesterday. I have also made contact with one of my friends from childhood who is very good at networking and planning. She is one of the people I'm "not allowed" to talk to, just like my daughter's family, but I did and I'm better for it already. Thanks for your prayers. I think they're working. I had lots of signs yesterday.
