My husband said he had to "babysit" our children years ago. I told him it was called parenting. He never said it again. Just maybe your husband doesn't want you to be more educated/make more money than he does? That's a powerful thing for men to overcome. Go for it. for any kind of physical discipline. Its not a spare the rod spoil the child issue. When having to discipline someone elses child, the results could be far less or far more than what the parents would have inflicted. The result in some cases, especially in Texas, is the accidental deaths of children. I spank my children, on the behind but as a LAST result. THerefore, I would not allow my children to go to a school or facility, camp, counseling, etc, that would attempt to discipline my child physically. Call me and I will come and take care of it, but don't put yourself in the parents position.

now for someone to disagree with you? You really take the cake, Kikki. You came on here and posted your opinions and things that you have experienced with OMs, and this other poster did the same. There is no law against that, and it certainly does not call for you to be rude and nasty to the other poster. He/she is allowed to post their opinions and experiences just as you did. Just because they are contradictory to what you said doesn't mean they aren't true. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone in my entire life as nasty and rude as you!

Where's best place to obtain credit score?
I know I see Free Credit Report all the time on the internet, but they are not really free, right? Don't you have to sign some sort of protection coverage and pay a monthly fee? Is the best place straight through the Equifax, TransUnion and that other place? (Can't think of the name of it right now). I'm in the market for a new house and want to make sure everything is okay. Gross line counts are easier to obtain IF you have sm
a fixe font; however, 6 cents is not enough. I would not accept under 7.5 cents a gross line and only on a FIXED fot with the margins spelled out. For instance, if they say a 65-space gross line, that means 1-inch margins on each side. Of course, anything on a line is counted as a line and that means if there is only 1 character, that is counted as a line, but always get it spelled out the type of font that will be used because if you have true type fonts, you could be doing as much as 125 characters on a line.
As good as gross lines sound, today's world is not really based on that and it is much easier to calculate a 65-character line in the perspective of today's world.
I don't know how much experience you have, but even if you have just a few years, that still is not good pay and again, if it is a TT font, you would only be making something like 3-1/2 cents to 4 cents per 65-character line.

There is really no way to compare number of reports to a line count. The more experience you obtain
faster it will go and the lines will increase so don't give up. All of oldies have been there. Most companies require 1000 to 1200 a day, so you are not far off from that. Just keep plugging along, you will get there. Use Expanders for your most common phrases, words you find you have to look up constantly, etc. for starters to help build your speed.

If there is really a problem with your transcription, then I would not worry about it. They will get to you if you screw up.
As far as policies and procedures, look in your manual. I am sure they gave you info for all of that stuff. JMO.

Two different stories on this.
One daughter is a pharmacy tech at a big hospital in Mpls does very well, been there 10 or so years. The other daughter did it at Walgreens for a over minimum wage but that was in Mpls, too, and you make more at everything up there. Neither one ever spent money on a course. But the fomer is certified, she learned it on the job. The former also has a GED. I applied at the 'greens and never heard a peep back, guess they want 16-year-olds they can pay minimum wage. This is the south where you don't get a job of any kind unless you're somebody's cousin.

My husband is a CPA, and I can tell you stories!
You need to a find a good accountant to set you up and show you the ropes. My husband usually takes new businesses and sets them up with Quicken and provides lots and lots of help as far as payroll taxes, deductions and of course, the business and personal tax returns that you file. This is NOT a do-it-yourself job! He has been brought in to sort through disasters and clean up DIY messes, and it's horrible. Lots and lots of money gets spent on those sorts of things.

I switch back and forth each and every day I am working. The place I work for is a teaching hospital, therefore we have interns and those are never on VR. What is hard between working both ways? Another story that really just does not make sense.

Oh, the stories I could tell on the Post Office.
The short story is that since the rates were raised the service has declined. My PM, an acquaintence through my kids' school, doesn't even want to hear my voice on the other end of the line because he knows that something else is messed up.

Our stories sound so similiar...listen to this
My daughter was in preschool last year, 3 mornings a week. I would hear the same thing about her all the time. At the end of the year, they wanted her to go to the "junior kindergarten" which the school offered. Looking at the curriculum, it was basically full day preschool, 5 days a week (and since it was a private school, it ran about $310 a month!). Her teacher pulled me aside when I was picking her up one day, just about a year ago, and said that there was no way she was ready for kindergarten. She said she was too "in her own world." She wasn't ready to sit and listen, was immature, etc., etc. I, too, came home and cried. We thought about home school at that point, but I know that I am not disciplined enough for that, just didn't have the time to work and do it as well as seek out social situations for her at the same time. So we just said forget it...we put her in the public school kindergarten. I figured I'd just get calls and notes home from the teacher, until they finally pulled her out when they realized she wasn't ready. So, guess what? No notes, no calls. First teacher conference...she was doing very well. She would ask the teacher a lot of questions that she already knew the answer to, but she was sitting at her table, participating etc. Last teacher conference in March, the teacher said she was just doing amazing. She was an angel and a joy in the class. She does her work, she participates, she gets along with the other kids. On her testing, as far as letters sounds, counting, etc., she's far ahead of where she should be. Again, I went home and cried..because I was so proud and so happy...and yes, I felt that the humiliation of a year ago (that teacher pulled me aside with many other parents around) had been vindicated. Good luck to you. It is going to be okay..really.

about the flaky way so many MTSO's operate, I think only the newest of the newbies would interview for a position without also interviewing ABOUT the position. It's a 2-way street, you know. If an MT is asking you questions up front, rather than waiting to find out AFTER hiring on with you that the job's not a good fit, that would waste time and money for both of you. It sounds like she looks before she leaps, and that she has a good head on her shoulders. She's obviously interviewing for more than one position, and doesn't want to go any further until she's also checked with a few more job possibilities. Judging by what you wrote in your post, my guess is she's experienced, and doesn't want to get the runaround at a poorly-run or fly-by-night operation.
I've heard other horror stories by adoptees.
Their families telling them they're lucky they got adopted and that they should be more grateful and what not. I swear, people should have to get a license before they become parents. I'll be the first to tell you I was not the best parent in the world, but at least I made sure my daughters knew they were wanted and loved - even during those rare times when they weren't! LOL.
I have good news and bad news 4U...
The good news is on Saturday, July 1 many of your least favorite residents will be "graduating." The bad news is that on the same day you'll be getting a virtual box of candy with brand new residents who have no clue how to dictate! RU excited?? ARGHHHH!!!!

Could be bad news
If you have been out of work for 9-10 months for the past couple of year you might not be eligible for unemployment as you have to work so much in the past 5 quartes - 2005 to 2006 to be eligible. And if you did not make much, then your benefit will be very little and yout IC could set off that. You can look a lot of this up on your state's page. They usually list what qualifies for it and what does not. But good luck. We all need help at one time or another and that is what it is there for. I am more for you getting unemployment than an illegal coming into the states and having a surgery that I could not afford and we as tax payers pay for it. Know that opens up another bucker of worms but that is my feeling.

I was quite excited about your suggestion. I talked with my daughter - that is out of my son's area of expertise. She works with software. She said it would have to be piggy backed onto the transcription software. I don't think companies would allow that. I also thought about having a little gold coin dropping into a bucket on the screen after every line but she said same thing, piggy back. Oh well, back to my footpedal idea.
