Are you sure you're using Auto Text and not Auto Correct?
Auto Text accompanies the template, as I stated before. The Auto Correct entries are in a separate file with the .acl extension.
Transferring Auto Correct/Auto Text
I work in Word currently and have a large number of AC/AT entries. I am moving to a platform that has Instant Text or Shorthand. Is it possible to transfer these entries as a file somehow, or am I going to have to enter by hand? Also any comments welcome regarding the ease of use, etc of Instant Text versus Shorthand.
Thanks
You can auto cap in autocorrect sm
I leave autocorrect enabled since I don't the ESP program. I use Instant Text and autocorrect togeter with ET and haven't had any problems. Under the show autocorrect options, just check mark capitalize first word in the sentences. I actually checked them all.
auto text, auto text auto text - I also have ...
a couple of doctor accounts that pay me "off the books" and it's less than $800/month so that helps out a great deal.
I autotext every report until I build each doctor up to a "normal" text format. if you want more info - email me at dcr468@aol.com. I am always hesitant about writing the name of companies on this board because of the serious bashing that goes on.

Those aren't SH functions. They're Word functions, or

Auto Text entries
The file should be located here:
c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoft emplates
There are a couple of other "critical" files that you should also back up. One is CUSTOM.DIC - (this is your dictionary) c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftproof
and the other is MSO1033.acl (AutoCorrect entries) c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftoffice
Auto Text thanx for helping :)
Inscribe/auto Text
I would like to print out my expansions in Auto Text, Inscribe. I am needing to make changes and clean it up and for me it would be easier to make the changes on paper and then go and do the changes.
Any ideas?
auto text has shut off
i was deleting some entries in my auto text and now when i am typing, they aren't coming on...i must have shut them off and i can't figure out to turn it on again.
MS Word Auto Text
I had inputed a bunch of my own "text expantion" into MS Word Auto Text and went in to work today and they are all gone. It is not the first time this has happened, and then you have to go and input back everything, which is a pain.
Has anyone else experienced this or know why it happens??
Word expanders vs Auto text
What is the difference between Word Expanders and Auto text? Are they the same thing?
Thanks!

Emdat Inscribe Auto text
New to Inscribe and when I try to expand my word in auto text the cursor jumps to the next line. Even did this when I tried a key other than the enter key. Also have Instant text(older version, Instant Text III Pro, but seems to be taking a long time to get used to. Any thoughts on these two expanders, which is better to use? Thank you
MS Word 2003 auto text
I use Word 2003 with the platform that my company uses. I am able to save autocorrect entries, but whenever I save an autotext entry it is gone the next time I open Word. Is there some Word option I need to click that will enable my entries to be saved? It would save me so much time if this feature worked.
Auto Text too full-slow MS Word
Has anyone experienced having their Auto Text in MS Word so full that it slows down getting into and out of MS Word Program? This seems to be the problem, because when I accidentally deleted my "Auto Text" entries, my Word program worked fast again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Auto text entries are saved to the template.
Open a document (even a new, blank one). Click on Tools, Templates and Add-in. Click on the box at the bottom, Organizer. Choose the Auto Text tab. If the AT entires you're looking for are shown, make note of the template that they're attached to (in most cases, this will be Normal). If you want them to be copied to a new template, simply choose that template in the opposite box and copy any or all entries that you want to copy.
open a word document, under help type in auto text--sm
and you can learn how to create, save, delete, edit entries.

transfering autocorrect/text
Anyone know how to transfer autocorrect and autotext entries to a new computer from my old one. These are in MS Word. Any help appreciated
Autocorrect vs Instant Text
In AutoCorrect you have a dedicated short forms for each entry. You enter every new entry manually, assign a dedicated short form and make sure it is not a word.
In Instant Text you can do the same thing.
However, Instant Text can do a lot more. In the beginning, to make the transition as smooth as possible, you may want to use IT the way you use AutoCorrect, and then discover little by little all the things IT can do for you to increase your productivity even more.
When you use the Instant Text features, you use the skills of your fingers, your memory, AND your eyes with the result that you fingers and arms will hurt much less.
You can have the same short form for different expansions, and for all the drug names you don't even have to use a dedicated short form.

AutoCorrect versus Instant Text
Thank you, thank you!
I have both and I was wondering about this! Can't believe I came across your post, it's just what I needed. Now I have my answer and since I have IT, plus I've imported my PRD files as a glo.file, I know what I'll stick with. Guess I'd only use Auto Correct if IT wasn't available. I will sorely miss my PRD and WP51. Nothing could be faster. But in a mouse-driven world, an upgrade is inevitable at my job. We will soon be using Word and I don't know if IT will interface with out system. Then again, the job will probably be shipped to India shortly. And I'll be ready.
convert Instant Text to Autocorrect
Can anyone help me with this? I am using eScription as well as Inscribe software and it does not appear to be compatible with Instant Text (if it is, please help!) so I was hoping to be able to convert my IT glossary over to autocorrect if at all possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Can I transfer instant text word list to autocorrect??
Hi all. Well I have a ton of entries stored in my Instant Text program. The problem is, that now that I am using Editscript version 8 instead of version 6, whenever I use my instant text program, it freezes up on me.. So I am just wondering, is there any way that I can transfer over my IT word lists over to autocorrect in microsoft word?? I think this is the only text Expander I can use with editscript 8. I really appreciate any help with this!!
Under preferences, auto display, and make sure
there is no check mark in front of the option to use Shift plus enter to expand.
Make an autocorrect entry of bid that expands to b.i.d.
tid to t.i.d., etc. That's what I do, it works for me.
Can you use the Word autocorrects or only Smartype? What about the Word auto text? tia nm

How do I get AutoCorrect/Text to do a backspace, i.e. {backspace}-year-old?
I use yo in my Shortcut and that can handle the backspace function but now I'm using a new platform and had to import my Expander BUT it won't import entries with {BACKSPACE}. I'm trying to put it into the AutoCorrect/Text but it won't take the command to backspace so now when I type yo it comes out looking like this: 35 -year-old and I have to manually go back and take out the extra space. When I try to enter the command exactly like in ShortCut, {BACKSPACE}-year-old, AutoText sticks it in EXACTLY like that.
Is there a way to get it to do what I want???
Does anyone know how to make the text larger in Word?? TIA

Does anyone know how to make Instant Text work with EditScript?
I have funky things happen when I use it, like losing a whole report. I have heard others say they use it and it works fine, so what am I doing wrong?
backup, backup, backup!! Always, make this a habit even with your auto corrects. (sm)

Functions
Do you have any small children????? Mine reprograms my function keys and I cant figure out how but you can reprogram your function keys through your tools/customize/highlight edit/hightlight cut/click keyboard/ and pick you shortcut.
Functions
I just left them as they were when I loaded express scribe.
No they aren't , they are SH functions. My
company offers brief overview of ShortHand and she was able to automate several functions.
I can't ever get the search functions to work for me either
This site definitely has one of the worst search functions I've ever seen. I've tried all different sorts of ways and though I've seen posts on subjects in the last month, will NOT come up in search, old archives, etc. VERY annoying!
Thanks very much, Pebbles. What functions do you assign to them?

Does anyone know of keyboard functions for Powerscribe for...

Did you reboot for starters? Are the other functions working? nm

Did they check his liver functions and does he still drink?
My son had that problem a few years ago. He's 30 now and his liver function tests were through the roof when he was checked. Once he stopped all alcohol intake, his night sweats completely disappeared. He used to sweat so much it looked like he wet the entire bed and even his wife would be wet.
I don't necessarily need one at this point. I just prefer using keyboard functions rather than m
plus if I buy a new wav pedal, I have to switch it out daily when on my other accounts. Just look for keyboard functions at this point.
They're similar and easy to use, but ExText just functions better. Loved it where

put it in your auto correct if your (sm)
program allows; the way you spell it incorrectly to the left and to the right the correct spelling and when you type it its corrected for you. Have done that several of my words I have the same problem with.
