Just watched the rescue of doggies, kitties and birdies with 1700 animals rescued. My wallet just got a couple dollars lighter. Poor little things.

disaster
Why on earth would you think we are exempt from natural disasters? We are part of this planet just like everyone else. We have had several natural disasters in the 20th century alone. One was a huge flood in the same area where this hurricane hit. In 1927, thousands of people were killed by a flood and they actually put black Americans in concentration camps and made them do the physical labor of cleaning up the mess.
We've had earthquakes - not just the San Francisco one, but on in the 1880s or 1890s that killed tens of thousands people in the Midwest, mostly Missouri.
This mess is the result of FEMA and Homeland Security not doing their jobs, and the result of having so many of our National Guard serving in Iraq.
This is a tragedy for the people who are the immediate victims of the Hurricane, but also for our nation. We look like a bunch of nitwits who cannot even take care of our own people, but think we are fit to be the leader of the free world.

Are you sure you are not me?
Possible disaster. I can't believe what I'm reading.
Lots and lots of sites on the internet with good coverage. I've been following it all evening. They are saying it if doesn't weaken significantly it could be one of the greatest natural disasters in this country in this century. 60-80 percent of the homes could be washed away, 1000s killed, 30 foot high water in the city if the levees give way and there is a 70 percent chance that could happen. This is from the Associated Press and a meteorological website - I am not making it up.
natural disaster
well, if Mt. Rainier even erupts or sends a lahar through the Puyallup Valley, thousands of people will be buried alive in 30 feet of 300 mile per mud and rocks the size of dump trucks. But unlike New Orleans, we have drills, and evacuate routes already set up. Incompetent planning is all it is.
wishing disaster on anyone is
no matter how strongly you feel, you should never, ever wish disaster on anyone. Don't you know that could come back to bite you in the butt...not a nice place to be bitten...except by you hubby maybe! For real though, that was cruel. Too many innocents suffer when a disaster like a hurricane or tsunami sweep through, not just the ones you wish it on. Remember, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
ICs are a bane on MTSO society.
Legally, they are an uncontrollable resource. They tend to be prima donas who have never seen the inside of a BOS, much less read one. They work. They don't work. They don't care. In a business where TAT and quality are key, they are a production and QA nightmare. Yeeees, there are wonderful IC MTs out there, and you should be (and hopefully are) treasured by your contractors. I admire your work ethic. However, you are the exception to the rule.
I've been in management for two nationals who have decided during my tenure to take on ICs. The top brass see this as a GLORIOUS concept, but the rest of us see the decision as a QA nightmare and a production hell.
JMHO.

trying to re-enter society and failing miserably
After 11 years at home minding my own business, having a fairly peaceful life, seeing people when I wanted to, not because I had to, i've become quite spoiled. I find that when i'm around new people, (trying to go to school) i'm easily annoyed and have no sense of humor like I used to. I've completely changed. I feel like a stick in the mud judgemental person, but people laughing annoys me and makes me tighten up rather than join in like I used to. I can't stay in my MT hole forever, but I feel like cousin IT amongst society now. Will this get better??? I miss my old self! I used to be FUN!
I am heavy by society's terms. I weigh
about 210 and am 5'6" tall. Every single female in my family tree for generations had the exact same body habitus. We are all German with big bone structures. I cannot lose weight - period. Been there, tried and done that save for gastric surgery. It is genetic in my case. Seriously, it really can be. I am totally comfortable with my body and how I look - I even love clothes, shoes, jewelry, until....I have to go to the doctors for anything - a hang nail, and its because I'm -- OBESE -- you name it, a cough - its because of that. And THAT makes me MAD! My cholesterol is normal, I don't have high BP and am 50. I am what I am what I am, and am happy with it until the med profession makes me feel like pond scum. All my relatives also lived into their 80s and 90s, the old healthy as a horse body types. I am super strong and in shape. I guess you get the picture. I have no arthritis, either, or any of the normal problems of mid life. I also drink milk - I LOVE MILK. I would probably lose 10 pounds max if I eliminated milk, but then I feel sick and run down. Its been a long time until I did get happy and satisfied with my body structure, but I still honestly hate doctors for their bias. And sometimes it is bias.
Maybe you local Cancer Society unit would have suggestions? nm

It's been all over the news about Bush being to blame for this natural disaster. Anyone sitting i
would have been blamed, too. It really doesn't matter what political affiliation they would be. People HAVE to put the blame somewhere and why not right at the very top? What this really comes down to is that PEOPLE, not VOTERS must come together and work in harmony for the common good of our fellow man. If we leave all the political baloney out of the equation, something good can be done.
If you are a visitor wanting to turn the Hurricane Katrina disaster into politics, take it to the

relief
I start to brace at night. Believe it or not it helps. Warm soaks help too, take a potty break and run under warm water.
I'm sure it would come as a relief to be fired.
What an ego! Hasta la vista, baby!
tendonitis relief
I'm looking for ideas for symptomatic relief of tendonitis, sleeping in a brace doesn't seem to be helping much. The pain started in my left pinky finger and is now traveling up toward my elbow. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Transcription Relief
Does anybody know anything about this company? I tested for them and wonder if anybody has any experience with them. Thanks.
pain relief
A conservative measure would be to purchase an ergonomic chair, if you are not already using one. They are costly, but work well in alleviating alot of the 'stress points' while transcribing. If you want information on where to purchase one, please contact me.
Big sigh of relief
from the other posts I thought perhaps not supposed to claim things for the work I have done at home, even at regular employee. I am spoiled by getting full check but know I have to start putting money back soon.
Transcription Relief
I took the test for Transcription Relief Services a year ago and passed. However, they only offered me 7.5 cpl even with over 20 years experience. So, you are not missing anything.
I just saw on MSNBC where relief efforts sm
have finally reached Slidell. From the video, there are boats and jetskis and FEMA is there, too. There is flooding and the homes have been severely damaged. Hope we can hear from her soon.

No to tax relief agencies. Depending sm
on your situation, you can do this yourself through an offer in compromise. Most are a scam or a ruse to flush out people who do not pay taxes. I answered an ad on TV for NADN for help with taxes, and ended up with someone from the Treasury Department at my front door. That was just the beginning of my nightmare.
Wow.. Thanks.. what a relief.. no blanks in that report thanks to you!!
Anybody had any experience with tax relief services SM
for back taxes owed, specifically state tax? I owe some back taxes to the state (2005), not much, $1200. Need to come up with it pronto. I saw an ad on TV about tax relief and was wondering if anyone has done this. Thanks.
Neck Pain Relief
The main problem I have is neck pain from typing. Found some good products to help and especially the neck exercises that keep me going with less pain and headaches.
do't worry, go for the steroid shot and relief!
I have tendonitis along with RHA. When my elbow flares up (as it's doing now), I pop the ibuprofen, use a gel wrap for "tennis elbow" you can pick up in the drug stores and try to limit my heavy movement with that one.
That said, I have to have it along with my hip injected 3-4 times a year. Not sure if my rheumy is just the best or not but I've never had any pain with the steroid injections. I call him slick and the relief is almost instant, no more tears from the pain. HTH
Similasan for earache relief. It is homiopathic.

Why is the AAMT promoting this?

For temporary relief, try Salonpas patches SM
I have chronic back pain and went through the chronic pain classes with my HMO. The spine surgeon suggested trying Salonpas patches. I didn't think they would help at all, but they did give me some temporary relief. I feel they work as well as the expensive "name brand" heat patches you can buy, although if I am going to be on an airplane, I wear one of those bigger and longer lasting patches. The Salonpas are about 2 x 3 inches, flat, have a pleasant odor, and I have used them on my back, on the wrists, and one time even on my face for a sinus-type headache. (My daughter says I was crazy to do that, but it helped). You can buy a box of the Salonpas very reasonably at any drugstore but they are VERY cheap at Sam's Club or Costco. It is really awful to have to transcribe (or do any work) when it causes pain. I hope some of these suggestions others have made will help you. I have used the type of neck pad that you heat in the microwave, but that was a long time ago. I just saw them on the Mouse Mitts site, thanks to the MT who posted the link. I'm going to order another one of those right away. There are a lot of helpful people out there. Take care...

Yes, thank you! And thank you for locking out some of the negative messages. What a relief!

donations for the relief coming from 50+ countries, including
-- India is making a $5 million donation to the American Red Cross, Ambassador Ronen Sen said Saturday. In addition, Sen said India was willing to donate essential medicines to the relief effort, noting that India has the largest number of Food and Drug Administration-recognized pharmaceutical companies outside the United States.
My kiddos start school next Wed and I'm not ashamed to say it will be a relief. My teenaged son
gives me hourly updates on his boredom every single day. Now, my daughter is starting kindergarten this year and I will be sad probably the first week because she's my baby - my last baby - but she is sooooo ready for school. She just can't wait. Maybe I should be the one with hurt feelings since she can't way to leave me!
I highly doubt my son's feelings are hurt when I say "Just think, you won't be bored when school starts."
Relief from this coal miner's daughter for all of those families and prayers for the one fallen.
Coal miners are a rare breed. Thank God these were saved.
