You are right about the books, tapes, and seminars, but....sm
that is where the "big" pins make their money. Great book to read about a former Emerald is Merchants of Deception. I happen to know that an Emerald made only 32,000 last year and 10,000 of that was a bonus. NOT WHAT THEY SAY. They didn't say how much money was made on tools (books, tapes, seminars). Quixtar has good products, overpriced shipping.

I am referring to personal development materials by the likes of Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, Dale Calvert, Brian Tracy, Norman Vincent Peale and stuff like "Chicken Soup For The Soul" as well as inspiratoinal music. I know Amway & Quixstar has bad reputations, but please don't put down the entire industry of network Marketing because of one company. There are several wonderful companies out there.

I was simply asking for suggestions of other places on line that I might look for the latest info, especially considering that my work is on the internet, what the hell is wrong with trying to be more productive and efficient?!?! Good Grief!!
I prefer books. I'm kinda old school. I like to be able to write new terms in my books. I do
have Stedman's Medical Dictationary on CD and I do use it quite a bit, but that's more because the actual print dictionary is so darn heavy to pick up and look a word up!

Click on tools, AutoCorrect, and click on tab that says
AutoFormat as you type and uncheck the ordinals option.
If it's installed, click or F10 to open it, click on...sm
the little white piece of paper icon to bring up the window where you ADD your new entries to, type your abbreviation in the Keyword box, then drop down to the Text to Type box and put in what you need it to say, then click Okay. You're done! If you want to delete your entry, arrow down to it, then click on the Trash Can icon. It'll ask if you want to put it on the clipboard, say yes and hit okay. If you want to modify it, use the little hand on the piece of paper icon. I like to click on the Disk icon to save stuff once I enter it, too, as a backup. If you're working and want to enter a paragraph or a page, you'll hightlight your stuff, bring up the ADD window, copy and paste it into the Text to Type area using the commands on the bottom of that box, name it, and hit okay. To use hot keys and stuff, you'll have to read the instructions in the help file. Good luck! ..nm

a short report for one of my usual dictators I just transcribed to get a % to pass on to you. I do almost all editing these days, though, so this test did not include a number of standard words and phrases I would either have in storage or remember and use if I did more transcription, i.e., Shorthand's contribution would be higher (gotta be fair to my precious expander!) :)

I was sent a courtesy copy of the office notes for a family member once.
This was soon after I became an MT. I was so appalled at the sloppiness of the typing and the rampant use of inappropriate abbreviations that we switched doctors. At least I knew what the abbreviations were for, not sure the typical lay person would have.

Too funny. I think she just wants attention and this is not the place. I'm sorry for her situation and glad she has done something about it, but really...enough already. Sheesh!
She needs to learn to make some decisions on her own. She says she is supposed to type 500 lines per day on her job....she types that many lines here on MTStars per day...telling everybody her personal business and wanting folks to feel sorry for her.

I must be dense or blind or something, but I see nothing about a Santa house - only how many days and seconds until Christmas - and nothing to the left of it that says to post a new message. Am I supposed to see that at the top of this thread, or at the top of the main board - doesn't matter, I can't see it either place!

What a wonderful and fun thing you provide for us MTs. Indeed, it is we who should be thanking you for the opportunity to come to this board and network with fellow MTs throughout the year. I am very grateful that you are here in spite of all the grinches who try to ruin it for the rest of us all year long. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness and care in giving us this respite from our difficult jobs and stressful holiday season. It is MUCH appreciated by most of us! I got to a new board I hadn't reached before - and there was the Santa house. I still don't find any box about posting, though. I'll keep searching. Ithas to be there somewhere!
