I am supposed to be independent, but I think you might learn as others have posted, a lot of places still want you to work certain hours and certain days. I do not mind that as I only work part but you should know some places really want that and yet you are supposedly independent. You do not worry about the Medicare part- when you pay taxes that part is taken out for you. My tax person gave me the necessary information to get my taxes started and I am sure you could get from your internal revenue web site but once you send the first payment, they follow up with preprinted forms, you will know when the payment is expected and you just do the required percent amount. I know others will probably want to flame this because I do have set hours but it works for me just fine.
