My take...

Well, I don't know how much experience you have w/hospital dictation or what your financial status is. .. but this is my experience.  I once worked for a hospital making a great hourly rate....great insurance .....job security....no stress...yes gossip and all that, but that kind of entertained me...

For the past six years, I have been at home working for two different companies....struggling and stressed out to my max to bring home a paycheck that is less than what I was making.  But, I have become a much better Transcriptionist and I get to stay home.  I felt much more job security working for the hospital.  I also miss those women I used to bicker with!!!   Sometimes, being at home 24/7 in your PJs isn't all it is cracked up to be....At home, it takes a lot  more work to make it!!!  I would recommend staying w/your job and IC part-time especially to be sure the company is decent ....you never know what your in for until you actually start working a few months and seeing the checks... Good luck to ya!!!
