My hubby works for one of the top Oil Companies in USA - with overtime - $150K a year for him. He has all the bennies, pension, 401K, profit sharing, etc. I am about 50K shy of his salary.

She obviously has issues with feeling inferior somehow! What kind of person says, "I make XYZ amount of money" when no one even asks?
Mine is straight salary with the hopes that we can make
our MTs happy enough to stay and try to make them happy. We don't just hire anyone though and we thrive on quality. We want as many quality MTs as we can get but our bottom line is not the number of heads, but the number of heads that stay, are quality, are happy and make us happy and that's the way it should be.

I try really hard not to laugh at him, but sometimes I really can't help it. Watching a grown man throw a temper tantrum over what in reality is the equivolent of "spilt milk" is really humorous. My teenagers behave better than the grown man does.

The worst case I had was when my sister and I were in business together - I happened to get a dictation for a man who had molested my sister when she was younger. I had called the office and asked that if this particular patient had ever come into the office again that they please be sure to notify me (I would split the work up between me and her), so that I would be sure to get the tape and not her. The administrator told me that this was not possible and I feared that my sis would end up with his reports. I eventually gave up the account for this reason.
Another time I had gotten my uncles report and he was seeing the doctor for Viagra.....i just wanted to die!!!

line expectations/requirements up to 1800 a day, the QA/editors I saw expectations 3000 a day, 2,3,4 cents a line.
What do you suppose this comes out to hourly, say 4 pages an hour, 35 lines/page times 140 lines an hour, say 6,7,8,9. And, now what are the requirements.
.I see where they expect/require the MTs to pay for just everything, THEIR costs to do business. Recently saw -- need 3 phone lines, provide at your cost, long distance plan buy this and that. Nonsense. .
After all this output who knows if in 30 days either side wants to continue relationship and look at all the money and equipment, Lanier $250 footpedal, thousands on some type of Lanier equipment LX something, 500 deposit to return in 6 months, this is nothing more than free interest loan for the business to fund their equipment purchase.
There is a lot of anger, frustration and disrespect out there, you can tell by the ads posted, a slave-like attitude toward the MTs.
Frustration/anger fosters errors.
AND, look at what the MTs have to put up with in terms of dictation, if we can't hear how to make production and accuracy. It is, anything goes, take a deep gulp and see if you can finish report before you need to take another breath. Dictate at live football games and "whisper" Intentional speed dictation because they don't want to say it again, no matter how many times yuu rewind, can't make out the dictation. Anything goes, just dictate dear doctor, just dictate, we expect/require 99.5% accuracy.
Yep, I too am frustrated and saddened.
What could be done is--- nicely state on ads, be sure and run a spell check, "smile"---- problem solved ----instead of the disrespect you feel..

What is the difference between AMD Sempron, AMD Athlon and Intel Core processors? These are the ones I find on Dell that still have Windows XP. What is the difference between the SDRAM size at 533 MHz and 667 MHz. Hard drive speed 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM (I have a vague idea about that)? What is considered acceptable for doing MT work? How do you tell the speed of the processor, and does this mean the surfing speed and the speed work can be uploaded and downloaded? I really feel lost here!!! TIA.

of much anything. I am with the rest, I top over 3000 lines a day, make few mistakes, have been at this for 3x as long as you and I never had anyone bow down before me. I think your attitude is bad.

per loaf, milk was $2.90 last night (gallon). Our home cost $171,000, we paid $1450.00 per month for mtg payment. Not totally clear on the taxes and other things. My son goes to a private school, but have heard wonderful things about the public schools in the area.

I love zucchini sliced and sauteed with onions, Rotel tomatoes, and crumbled cooked bacon (saute the zucchini in some of the bacon drippings if you can afford the fat/calories).

I mean really had not a penny for 2 weeks. We just emptied the cabinets and whatever was in there, we made do. Personally, I know what a terrible feeling that is, downright awful! Remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel. If you have anyone close to you who can help you out - that is one thing, but if not - you will have to make do with what you have.
Try the really cheap stores - the ones where usually you wouldn't even look at before. They have great deals, like Aldi, or the dollar stores, the outlet stores like Wonder, Hostess, etc.
I have to say that experience has humbled me and my family significantly.
Good luck - things will work out. Sometimes, we get wake up calls, and this might be yours. I think I have had quite a few already.

I'm the "bread winner" in my family
and my boyfriend, who doesn't work outside of the home, handles all the activities normally associated with the "housewife" role.
It's not an arrangement for everyone, but it works perfectly for us.
No complaints here :-)

you are lucky...they were my bread-and-butter at my past job...
very difficult at first, and I did NOT want to do them; then found out they were pretty much 'standardized' once you got used to the dictators, they say the same thing. Make templates, normals, whatever.
They are interesting, and I could make tons of lines in no time.
Then, I must have gotten 'bumped' when new managers came in and brought in other MTs, because they took them away from me. Never saw them again after that.
Ended up leaving that sorry job, anyway. Very bad experience...
BUT, those ERs paid my bills for 1 full year until then...
