Can you imagine having to say I live at 555 Squirrel Run or 555 Wild Turkey Walk for the next 10-20 years?  Just the image of squirrels and wild turkeys alone would force me to look elsewhere.  Got any good names for streets? 

What is this all about?

I worked in the diagnostic imaging department at a local hospital for five years. The front desk clerks, who at the time were also doing the scheduling, had to know the preps for all the exams, how to use the scheduling software, answer the phones and field all kinds of questions, not to mention deal with cranky patients and irate relatives who wanted to pick up films (after HIPAA was introduced), started out at $7.00 an hour.

Transcriptionists started out at $13.00 an hour. Need I say more?

Well, I am anyway.   Yes, I can do transcription without totally concentrating on it, in fact a lot of times I am mentally making up grocery lists, planning the rest of my day, etc. But I've been in the medical field, mostly in transcription, for over 20 years. And even I have to concentrate hard when I get a new doctor, particularly an ESL one, until I get used to him/her.

I am really tired of hearing people put down this field. Sure, it could pay better. So could about 95% of the jobs out there. Yes, outsourcing is a problem. Talk to the people who used to work for GM and all the other manufacturing plants that have closed down and moved to Mexico or wherever.

There are darned few jobs where you can work at home and make as much money as you can in medical transcription. No, you'll never get rich doing it. But you can make decent money. And it is an honorable profession - you are doing something to help people. Compare it to telemarketing, which you can also do out of your home, where you are trying to fleece people, or at the very least convince them to spend money they may or may not have. Compared to that, I would say we are pretty high up on the food chain.

so I believe it's from having TOO MUCH ON YOUR PLATE.....*l* - really, more responsibilities, more things to remember......all that stuff.....so who would remember typing the report.

What's great is....if someone down the road ASKED you about that certain report(s), MQ, QA, or an MD's office....you'd most certainly remember it......*LOL*

So, it's only the short-term memory that is affected FIRST *l* - that and the eyes.......first to go *rofl* 

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have. 

Anyone else experience this problem with their C-phone?  Is there a problem with my C-phone?  At first I thought it was my telelphone line and called the phone company.  They sent a technician out to replace the lines and check the house, but the hum is still there on the C-phone.

It's driving me batty!

We only have one phone line.  I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones.  I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone.  I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report. 

I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie. 

Makes no sense!  Wonder how these types of people are running the HR depts?!!  I am fortunate enough to have three offices that I IC for.  So, you moved because of the pay situation??  Hope your in a great position now!

Are you serious?  I can't believe they would cut our pay.  The more you produce, the more the pay should be.  They are getting paid per line from their clients.  I'm sure they are not getting less from their clients because of DQS.  If that happens, I'm quitting.  I barely make enough now!!!  How much was the cut, if you don't mind me asking?

Although you may be expecting too much of yourself too soon in your MT career.

I have been in over 12 yrs.  I have my own Expander with 20,000+ short cuts in it (if you email me, you can have a copy of it).  I know this expander like the back of my hand after using it for about 10 yrs.  I make about 1800 lines or so a day, less if I am tired like I have been lately :(. 

It IS doable, but I don't believe you have enough expansions to maximize your skills and time.

 I am not sure what would trigger anyone to think washing a keyboard in the dishwasher would work.  I know from others who have had accidents by spilling a cup of coffee, water, soda etc it shorts out the keyboard so what would make anyone think washing it in a dishwasher is smarter?  I cannot believe someone would try such an insane thing.  Oh my.   Those who have tried and ruined a keyboard obviously like to waste money on having to buy a new keyboard.
